Velvet crabs are small, fuzzy, and aggressive predators found in the cold, rocky environments of the North Sea. Despite their name suggesting softness, they have hard shells and are fierce hunters that feed on mussels, limpets, and other crabs. They are highly territorial and will attack to defend their space, making them dangerous despite their small size.

You’ve Never Noticed THIS Crab… 🦀 What The FishAdded:
Are you ready for another what the fish?
Hello, my name's Emma. I'm a scuba diver in the North Sea and this is a series where I spit you some facts about an underwater creature. We've done the edible crabs, so this time it's the turn of the velvet crab.
>> [music] >> Now, just because he's a velvet crab doesn't mean he's soft like a handbag.
They're fast, they're furious, they're fuzzy, and they're fierce. These guys are actually hard as nails, you know.
They like the cold, rocky environment and they're real camouflage apart from their red eyes, which says, "Back away, human." Or anyone, really. They're small, but very deadly. They tear apart mussels, limpets, even other crabs.
They're basically the Jackie Chan of the tide pools, and they'll fight you to the death cuz they're proper territorial and that. So, they'll hide in the seaweed and then bam, you're dead. So, just remember, velvet crabs, they're small, fuzzy, angry, low-key terrifying, and you must [music] respect the foes, people. Respect the foes.
