Successful negotiation in PC flipping requires making the sale easy for sellers by being polite, offering clear prices, picking up items quickly, and paying promptly, while avoiding negative openings, excessive criticism, or over-explaining offers; the key is to solve the seller's problems by being straightforward, asking fewer questions, and creating positive interactions that make them more willing to accept your offer.

How to Negotiate Like a Pro | Become a PC Flipper Ep. 14
Added:You always make the money when you buy, never when you sell. That's the first rule in PC flipping, but also in any kind of flipping business. And today, here at Mountain PCs, I'm teaching you guys how to negotiate like a pro and without sounding like a low-baller.
That's going to get you more deals, and this actually makes a big difference in your profit margins. So, with that said, welcome back again to my become PC flipper / PC builder course. Let's get started. Now, the first mistake I see people doing is just opening up negatively. Nobody wants you to critique what they're selling. Allow me to explain. Because very often, if you can point out a problem, people are going to come down with the price. So, that's something you should do. However, if there is no real problem, you should not just critique or or, for example, bring out the market or those things when negotiating. I find less words are always better online. In person, if there is any kind of problem, you're already in person, you already negotiated, you're actually buying the component. If you see anything that's wrong, just point it out. Okay, act a little bit annoyed because you should be annoyed because you went there, you wasted your time. And just tell them, "This is wrong. You should give me a discount." Obviously. However, like not even ask for discount, just tell them, "This is wrong." Act disappointed and see what they do. Then tell them, "Okay, I can buy it to either way for X discount." This is in person. But, online is where most people actually make mistakes. They don't even get to the in-person part. And I find a good opener is very neutral. It's like you offer a solution to their problem. Their problem is they want to sell whatever they're selling, and they want to sell it fast and seamlessly, in a convenient way, without doing strange stuff, wasting time. The less questions you ask, the better. And the more straightforward you are, the better. How I open usually, if I see the ad is okay and I I don't really have much to to inquire about, is I just tell them, because it's always a low-ball offer, keep in mind. So, I just tell them, "Hey, I'd be really interested in this.
I can come pick it up today or or the first day in which you're free. I'd be able to offer X. And this I find gets me the most results. It's very simple, very easy, but it works the best because you are already solving their problems.
You're telling them, "Hey, this is going to be very easy. I'm going to pick it up." You can also tell them pay by cash if you're paying by cash, and just tell them, "Hey, if you just tell me yes and you agree to my price, in a few hours you won't have your problem anymore. You can take off the ad, stop answering to all the low balls, and just get done with it." And this works the best. Now, if you have to inquire about stuff, for example, there is a not very clear ad and you have to ask a few things, and they come back with some negative information, I always think you should open with some good. Allow me to explain. I want to buy a GPU, right? The ad is a bit strange. I I don't really know. Maybe there are two models of this GPU. One is 8 GB, and the other one is 6 GB. The seller that doesn't list how many GB it has, you ask them, they don't know. You ask for a GPU-Z screenshot, they send it to you. You see that it's the lower capacity model. That point, I would tell them, "I see that unfortunately the GPU is the 8 GB model.
I think it's a really good card. I would like to buy it. I can buy it today. I can come by, pick it up, and pay it by cash. But I would have to ask you to meet me at said price." And you make your offer.
So this, as you can see, is very polite, very neutral. You're not like annoyed because the price was very high and it and it actually was the lower GB model.
And when the seller reads this, he has a positive interaction with you, and he wants to sell to you. If you instead went there and told him, "It's actually the 8 GB models. It's worth so much less. I mean, I can maybe still buy it, but I can offer X." This, some people may say it work because you are like you're making them feel like what they have is not worth much, which psychologically does make sense, but I find you have a negative interaction, and just statistically, because I've tried it all, I'm not going to lie, just works worse. So you shouldn't do this.
Sales is a complicated thing, and even if you're buying, you're selling because you're selling them to to sell to you at a certain price. So, you need to be a good salesman in this business, and there are a lot of tricks you can go over and a lot of things you can do, but I like to keep it simple. So, very polite, just state your offer, make it easy to go by, and don't be afraid to make some, not too much, small talk. So, if they give you something, for example, if they tell you, "Ah, I'm selling this because I have to move abroad." Just uh make sure you you answer to that. Just don't ignore it. Just be like, even if it's something very trivial, very pointless. Just Just tell them, "Ah, I see. I know what it feels like. Don't worry. I can come get it." You know, just just This is This is a pretty simple example, but the thing is, if, for example, they tell you, "Ah, I bought an RTX 5090, that's why I'm selling my 5060." Just tell them, "Wow, that's a massive jump." You know, because it it creates a little bit of a human interaction, and that means they're going to be more willing to sell them to you. I feel like I'm teaching you how to be like a decent human being, but uh you know, we buy and sell. For us, it's mostly numbers, and sometimes you have to remember us that we are dealing with people, and it's good to be nice. And also, if you start to develop a little bit of a good relationship with them, when you actually go pick up the card, remember, always ask them if they have more hardware for sale because very often, since you're there, you have cash in your hand, you can buy more, and you can get some very good deals on stuff they haven't listed or stuff that they have listed, but that you can then inquire about. I never inquire about other stuff they have online, unless if I'm not able to make a deal, and they have, for example, more components, I ask them, "Hey, if I buy them all, can you give me a discount?" And that also works really well. So, those are my two cents. Uh if we were to cover in depth the the whole sales and buying, it would be really long, but if you guys are interested, I can make a part two of this. But, I also want to know your tips. So, if you do have any, and I'm sure you do, drop a comment down below and let me know. And if you watch the video this far, thanks a lot. Drop a like and subscribe.
