Choosing Happiness Despite the Pain

[00:00:30]And that is to help people who have terrible pain in their lives, emotional, psychological, or physical.

[00:00:42]Uh endure it and and even achieve happiness.

[00:00:49]I I tell you Dennis, I've heard I've I've heard from from friends that they are amazed. Every day they would come to your hospital room when you're in the hospital, and you would have this great attitude, and your your attitude was "What choice do I have? Let I mean, I don't want to be miserable." And I don't know how you do that.

[00:01:14]I'll tell you how I do it.

[00:01:16]I'm an extremely rational thinker. The title of my biblical commentary is The Rational Bible.

[00:01:27]Uh I If it doesn't make sense, I don't I don't believe it. I don't I reject it.

[00:01:34]So, anyway, I uh I realized from day one I had only three choices.

[00:01:46]Death, depression, and uh or uh persevere.

[00:01:57]Uh And that that's it.

[00:02:00]There Really, there is no fourth alternative.

[00:02:06]So, I thought about that.

[00:02:09]And I don't want to die, and I don't want to be depressed.

[00:02:13]So, I have to persevere.

[00:02:17]And I will say this, in my book on happiness, I I happiness is a serious problem.

[00:02:27]I have I have now vindicated everything I wrote.

[00:02:38]And now, with much greater credibility, because having endured being paralyzed from the shoulders down, every person with terrible pain in their lives can take what I say very seriously.

[00:03:09]You have always been an icon and a hero of mine, Dennis, and you're you have just grown in my eyes over the last year watching you even to be a bigger giant.
