It's very important to be very clear about what leaving the ECHR would actually mean, because Reform talk about it like it's some distant bureaucratic inconvenience. The ECHR doesn't just protect immigrants. It also protects you and your right to a fair trial and your right to not be tortured, your freedom of expression, your right to privacy.

That should massively concern you regardless of how you feel about immigration. And this deportation plan itself is one that we've definitely seen already, not just as a proposal, but as a reality currently in America. Mass detention, deportation flights, removal centers, and unfortunately what we're witnessing in America is just chaos. Wrongful deportations of legal residents, children separated from their parents, billions spent with barely any result, and the courts are overwhelmed with legal challenges. That is a live preview of what Reform are proposing. It is absolutely not working there, and it definitely will not work here.
