In the Makerfield by-election, voters expressed frustration with local governance, with some prioritizing immigration over traditional concerns like cost of living and housing. However, critics argue that Reform UK's policies, including tax cuts for the wealthy and cuts to public services, may not address the needs of ordinary working-class residents, raising questions about whether political candidates truly represent their constituents' interests.

Angry Voter Explains Why He Is Backing Reform Over Labour!Added:
Hi guys, with the Makerfield bi-election just around the corner, we're now starting to see some polling and one has come out recently that has put Labor on 43% and Reform UK on 40, which according to this poll would mean that it wouldn't exactly be a cakewalk for Andy Burnham.
Now, I want to show you this clip here where a guy was interviewed in his car about the bi-election and who he's going to vote for. And this is from uh Manchester Evening News. And I'll leave a link in the description to the entire clip, but I wanted to show you this part here where well, have a listen to what this guy had to say.
>> I think um but I think it needs a big change around here, doesn't it? And I'm all for a change for get someone reform in something totally different, new ideas.
>> It sounds like obviously from you saying that there's a bit of frustration maybe how the area has been run. Um do you know how you're going to vote in the bi-election?
>> I'm with reform million%. Immigration for me is the biggest key of the lot.
And >> so immigration is his priority. Not cost of living, not housing, not not NHS.
Immigration.
You know, it's interesting because the guy is sitting in a Mercedes.
His priority is not cost of living. So he's going to vote for reform. But have a listen to what he says next. And um it's just come it's been ri you can see over the last two years it's just rife now and it's getting worse and then my kids don't feel safe. I've got four kids in the area. Kids don't go around streets as much these days.
>> And how are people feeling it? Is is there anger? Is there frustration?
>> It looks like it doesn't it? Yeah. Yeah.
Oh yeah, there's definitely anger and frustration. But that's why I've got I'm even driving reminisce.
>> Oh my goodness.
What can I say? This guy is an activist.
He's not just an ordinary member of the public. He's not just some guy who, you know, look, I'm not happy with the current situation. I think I'm going to vote for somebody else. Who else can I vote for? Oh, maybe Reform UK. No, this guy is an actual activist.
Um, you know, because what type of person drives around with a sign in their car for a political party?
Activists do that. Or very strange people. So, this guy is either an activist or he's a very strange individual.
He mentioned at the beginning of this clip change, but the problem with reform is that they don't represent change.
They represent more of the Tories because most of the people in reform at the top level are extoories.
So how is that change from the Labor Party to the to the extories? How is that going to improve the situation for people in Makerfield?
Because that's what they'd be basically voting for. Yes. The candidate is a plumber. The candidate is probably workingass, but he's not there to represent the working class. He's not there to improve the situation for ordinary people. He's there to be a bum on a seat for Niger Farage. Like, does anyone honestly believe that when it comes to voting on policies that he will break from reform? Because the policies that Nigerian reform support are tax cuts for the rich, cuts to public services, austerity, and just blaming immigrants for everything. Like, do these people honestly believe that the candidate that if if reform if the reforming UK candidate wins, he will actually work for the people in the constituency? You know, if Nigel Farage wants to push measures that um damage worker rights, do they think that the the Reform UK candidate or the Reform UK MP will vote against that? Like, wake up and smell the coffee.
>> So, yeah, I'm big on it. Yeah.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I'm big on it. They've not done what they said Labour when they got in. They've definitely not done what they've said. They've gone back on the word straight away. If you if you grow up in Hingley around here, what what are your kind of opportunities to to kind of, you know, progress your life, get a good job?
>> There's no good money.
>> Okay, but but this guy doesn't care about those things. He only cares about immigration. He said it at the beginning of the interview. It's like immigration is my priority. So what's the point in talking about, you know, cost of living or jobs or housing? These are not a priority for this guy. in a lot of trades these days. But obviously with what's going on in the world, we don't know if that's could be a recession very soon coming, which is looking that way with the economy. So if that happens, then the work will go slack and make it even harder for people around here. It's very interesting times. This is just a start this. I think it's going to get a lot worse. It was pretty much it is going to get a lot worse. And who is responsible for this current crisis we're going through? Donald Trump. And who is Donald Trump's biggest fan in the UK? Nigel Farage, although he's not talking too much about it at the moment.
So, you know, would it be good to have somebody like Nigel Farage as prime minister? Is he going to prioritize the British people? Or is he going to prioritize Donald Trump if Donald Trump is still around?
You know, one thing is to interview somebody on the street as a regular person. Another is to interview an activist. And the activist doesn't care about cost of living, doesn't care about NHS, doesn't care about the issues that face ordinary people. They just want Nigel Farage in. And this guy will vote for Farage. He or what he thinks is Farage. Um because he cares about because he's concerned about immigration. Do people have a right to be concerned about immigration? Of course they do. But Farage is not going to fix this.
It's about blaming everything on immigrants. We've seen it before. Farage was doing the same in 2016 when it came to the European Union. We leave the European Union, it'll fix the NHS, it'll fix housing. So, he was very good at convincing people that one action would fix pretty much everything. And it's the same again with immigration. Oh, if we kick out all the immigrants, then there'll be enough housing and there'll be enough uh doctor's places and, you know, the economy will improve. That's the line that they're selling. And unfortunately, people are buying it.
So when it comes to the Makerfield bi-election, as I said at the beginning, the polling is looking pretty good for reform. This is generally a Labor seat.
Andy Burnham is the favorite, but you know, six week or what is it? Four weeks left. Uh, anything can happen. Let me know in the comment section, guys, what you think. And I'll see you in the next video. If you've made it this far, thank you so much for watching this video.
