El-Rufai: Family Laments Health Condition, Accuses DSS Of Illegal Acts

[00:00:06]Family members and associates of former Kaduna state governor Nasir al- Rufi are worried that his health may take a deep plunge if he's not allowed to see his personal physicians. They also describe his trial as political saying President Bolame Tinubu's government is afraid of opposition. Tunji Olani Pekkun reports >> after the incident at the federal eye court. Family members and close associates of Malam Nas El Rufi gathered just behind the DSS office in Hass drive Abuja deliberating on what next to do.

[00:00:39]Family members left worried for the health of the former Kador state governor. Speaking with journalists in Abuja, Erui's wife condemned DSS for waging a psychological warfare against her husband and his family. She says the agency is deliberately frustrating the Kaduna court order. He has been denied doctors even uh even though they were the ones that took him to the hospital.

[00:01:02]In the first instance, it is their own in-house doctor that recommended that he run some tests and then they took him to the hospital. I was there with him after the hospital visit. We agreed that once the results are out that Malam will the doctors will come and talk to him about the result. He was denied access to the doctor because in their own explanation they said Malam was not aware that uh the doctor was coming. We are worried as a family and they have told us point blank that no family member will see him again. This man will be taken to court in the morning from here to Kaduna at 5:00 a.m. He will appear in court and he will be brought back to Abuja.

[00:01:50]Then he will take be taken back the next day again for another hearing and then he will be brought back. We don't sleep. We don't know. Every day we get a threat.

[00:02:07]Police are coming to raid your house.

[00:02:08]You are being followed. Our phones are tapped.

[00:02:12]What is this? If Mala has done something, let the court decide. is not about Malam Nasu Aeropi. It's about all of us Nigerians. It's about can things be done right. It's about being fair.

[00:02:25]It's about the rule of law and justice and due process. Is about our shared humanity. Today is the 91st day and everybody's keeping quiet. Is it fair?

[00:02:37]Federal lawmaker Honorable Boo Rufi who also laments the treatment given his father described the trial as political urging President Batinu's government to address the problems of the country and not focus on victimizing his father.

[00:02:50]>> I am telling you it is political and it doesn't matter what it is um with Malam or without Malam with the plan that if Malam's free or not you still have an opposition to deal with I am part of it.

[00:03:03]The best thing if you are scared of an election is to serve the people we represent all of us. And technically we're failing at that.

[00:03:10]>> We're calling for his immediate release and uh the bell conditions.

[00:03:17]He's one of the elite in Nigeria. So he should be on self recognition. He deserve that.

[00:03:24]The family says since Eeri is being denied quality medical attention, President Batinobu's government will be held responsible if anything happens to their bread winner news.
