Bengal CM Suvendu Meets Rajnath Singh In Delhi, PM Modi Meeting Scheduled Today

[00:00:00]Delhi meet that has come into focus after he's become West Bengal Chief Minister. Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari who met with Prime Minister Modi as [music] well. Suvendu Adhikari is also to meet with President Murmu and Vice President. That's the latest coming in as far as back-to-back meetings, especially in Delhi, that are happening with West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari where he met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Murmu, Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh. [music] Let me take this back to my colleague Indrajit Kundu who continues to stay with us on the broadcast. Indrajit, do give us a wider sense of what is being discussed as part [music] of these meetings, whether it is uh more about the way forward in terms of governance in West Bengal [music] and how Delhi is looking at it.

[00:00:48]Well, this is very, very crucial because this is of [music] course the first uh Delhi visit uh by the West Bengal Chief Minister ever since he took over as the Chief Minister of the state. Uh last night when he reached Delhi, uh >> [music] >> the Chief Minister went straight to the Home Minister's residence and met Amit Shah. Today, just a short while back, he met Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. This is very, very crucial. This comes in the backdrop of the West Bengal government's decision to hand over land parcels to the BSF in the bordering areas for fencing [music] activity uh in the borders. This has been a long-standing uh complaint as far as the central government is concerned when the TMC government was in power. Now that the [music] BJP has taken over, uh one can see better coordination between center and state over border issues. Suvendu Adhikari will also be paying a courtesy call to the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, and the Vice President as well.

[00:01:42]And in the later half of the day, the very, very much anticipated and crucial between meeting between the Chief Minister and Prime Minister Modi will take place uh sometime in the evening at around 4:30 is what we are given to understand. And we are expecting a slew of uh you know requests [music] of demands on behalf of the state government to be placed before the Prime Minister.

[00:02:05]Remember the BJP has made you know big promises, pre-poll promises. A lot [music] of them are already in the pipeline like the Annapurna Yojana in which 3,000 rupee direct benefit transfer for women [music] which will start from next month, 1st of June. So there are financial implications even in the previous regime. We have seen how multiple times the state government would write to the central government to clear Bengal's dues. Now that the BJP is in power [music] in West Bengal a lot of the central schemes which were earlier blocked, they have started their implementation in West Bengal like the Ayushman Bharat scheme or the Swachh Bharat Yojana. So a lot of these funds which were stalled earlier due to the difference between the two governments in center and the state, that is being cleared through the pipeline and one can expect all these come up for discussion when the Chief Minister calls on the Prime Minister this evening.
