[00:00:00]Hello friends, today we are at Basilica of St. Dennis. It is located in the commune of St. Dennis, a northern suburb of Paris, France.

[00:00:10]The 12th or 13th century Basilica as we know it today is 108 m long and its vaults reach 29 m. It is a masterpiece of Gothic architecture and burial site for 40 French kings, 26 queens, and a dozen servants of the monarchy from the 7th to the 19th century. The cathedral remains open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. from 1st April to 30th September and from 10:00 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. from 1st October to 31st March. It opens at 12:00 noon on all Sundays. The cathedral remains closed on 1st January, 1st May, and 25th December every year. The basilica became a place of pilgrimage and a necropolis containing the tombs of the kings of France, including nearly every king from the 10th century to King Lewis 18th in the 19th century. King Henry IVth of France came to St. Dennis to renounce his Protestant faith formally and become a Catholic. It houses a unique collection of 70 recumbents and a spectacular set of stained glass windows.
