[00:00:00]Okay, before we come to our Karnataka Game of Thrones, I have a quick bit of [music] breaking news from neighboring Kerala. There's a new government there and a scuffle has broken out in Thiruanandapuram. We've got [music] pictures on your screen as part of this news break where uh where Pinarai Vijian supporters have attacked CRPF officials.

[00:00:18]The outgoing chief minister's supporters [music] have attacked CRPF officials uh in Thirvanapuram. Pinarai Vijian supporters threw bricks and smashed vehicles. All of it caught on camera here that you're looking at in these pictures on NDTV. This scuffle was during ED raids at Vigan's residence.

[00:00:36]Vigan supporters have attacked CRPF officials. [music] Supporters have thrown bricks and smashed the CRPF uh cars and vehicles that are parked right outside the former chief minister's residence. This was like I said uh during ED raids at Vijayan's residence.

[00:00:50]I have Ashwin Nand Nandakumar with me live on this erupting story from from the Kerala state capital. We'll have uh uh Ashwin with us in just a moment from now. But these are uh important pictures coming in. In fact, our political editor Vasuda is with me.

[00:01:07]So I'm going to quickly pull her in on this news break uh just before Ashwin joins us from Thirvanapuram. uh dramatic scenes from Travandram that you've just heard about Vijayan's supporters smashing ED vehicles right after this ED raid temperatures up in Kerala.

[00:01:22]>> Absolutely. You know sh this was expected to happen earlier but uh you know that and because it did not happen UDF also made this the central point of its narrative that there is some uh deal there is some sort of arrangement between the BJP and of course the LDF but but now all of that is playing out.

[00:01:39]We told that there could also be a char sheet that's that could be uh you know filed soon. What I hear from BJP sources is that processes are being followed and this is just basically you know one of the processes being followed and nothing political to be seen and read into this but yes we will do that because that's our job to do.

[00:01:55]>> Yeah immediately after an election result of this kind you can imagine emotions running very high among supporters. Ashwin Nandakumar our man on the ground in Kerala is with me on the phone line. Ashwin. Uh uh uh pretty uh disturbing scenes there. Vehicles being smashed, bricks being thrown during this ED raid. How is the situation right now?

[00:02:13]Because what we're looking at is pretty uh uh pretty unsettling.

[00:02:18]>> Uh absolutely this was expected. But there was this crowd that was uh swelling in by the hour. They have been protesting for the last five years.

[00:02:25]Emotions were high and what we actually saw, what I witnessed was absolute vandalism, a complete disregard for any kind of democracy. In fact, the CRPF officials who were inside this car.

[00:02:38]These were CRPF officials. They were doing their duty of protecting their enforcement directed officials. Their car was completely smashed left, right and center. At least three stones just whispered me by hardly few centimeters.

[00:02:52]And all these have been recorded by my VJ also. Uh we have to put it out. But what one thing was it was absolute craziness that that happened over here.

[00:03:01]There were some 300 to 400 supporters of the CPM to stop the complete convoy.

[00:03:06]There were around 100 policemen who were supposed to be protecting these vehicles but they failed to protect. So in is essentially it's a failure of the home ministry itself who was unable to give the kind of protection. Absolute ruffles that happened. We could see like youngsters everybody throwing stones. I can identify these people. In fact, some of them who threw such big stones they were right after throwing these stones they went straight to meet the chief minister the former chief minister. That is how how unbelievable that that events that occurred right now. All these the vehicles were flashed. If I could uh you know show this entire road around 50 m.

[00:03:44]It took it took these vehicles to move out of the 50 m 50 m of distance. It took the vehicles at least 15 minutes to cross. There were people there were young SFI casers. There were DFI casers all standing in front. They were kicking these cars. They were taking whatever they could get on their hand. Stones, bricks, bottles, stones, bricks, bottles, everything was slung at it. And just before also when the CRPF officials were doing the duty, we could see them taking the helmets and throwing it at them, taking slippers and throwing it at them, including women's slippers. So we could see women cattle also attacking and this was a kind of a vandalism that was that was on display truly what what would he say? We we were saying that once the left will come as an opposition, we could see a lot of uh uh display of democracy. But this is absolute absolute madness. This is nothing close to what democracy is. We could see people fleeing for their life even in fact there were a lot of people there were just uh next to that I just want to show you just next to this this is the uh this is the chief minister's residence just next to that is a hospital there were patients in that hospital there's an ambulance over there all these were completely in a danger there were patients coming out nobody knew what was what is going to happen there was absolute ruckus vandalism complete destruction and it was uh it was unbelievable what occurred It's something which I've not witnessed in the last 10 years I've been reporting in Thranapuram.

[00:05:14]>> Uh you know Ashwin very very dramatic scenes that you've captured on NDTV's cameras. I just want to you know give our viewers uh full context of these scenes uh that we're seeing out of Kerala's capital barely a few days after a new government has taken over. The enforcement directorate has been conducting searches at 10 locations linked to former Kerala chief minister Pinari Vijan, his family members and senior executives as part of a larger moneyaundering probe. So it's the ED's vehicles uh that are there outside the house uh including his own house. This is also Pinay Vijan's own house in Canor district. The corode residence of his son-in-law and former minister Mohammad Riyaz. The premises being searched include Vigan's rented residence uh in Thiruanatapuram where this violence is apparently taking place where stones have been hurled at CRPF vehicles. Uh bottles have also been thrown according to Ashwin. Where is the the former chief minister at this point of time and is the situation escalating or is it under control now? Ashwin, >> right now everything is under control.

[00:06:18]What you see behind me, this is the exact place. This is where chief minister after the crowd did whatever the show of strength and complete vandalism chief minister without the former chief minister without any qums without any kind of uh uh you know call calling for you know any kind of restraint he went and spoke to the media and this is where he went inside after briefing the media about the situation that has unfold. Essentially this entire issue is about which took place in January 2024 when the when the income tax also found out that money of CMR uh the Kochin Minerals and Routtiles Limited uh which has been given to multiple parties a sub a subsequent chunk of money 2.72 crores were diverted to the uh company that is run by Pindra Vijay's daughter Xalogic which is headquartered in uh Bangalore. Now this money trail is what essentially became a question and the uh the in income tax uh also found out that uh there has been a uh there has been a financial fraud that has taken place because what they essentially found out was that the money was given for no services which was rendered by this company and whatever they put out that this was the kind the kind of services that were rendered all found to be fake and that is where the enforcement directorate was trying to uh find out the reality of this case and yesterday the Kerala High Court gave a complete green flag to the uh enforcement directory to go ahead. In fact, there was a petition that was filed requesting to quash the uh the investigations against uh the CMR company as well as the investigations against Wina Vijay that was quashed and after which within 24 hours because enforcement director officials told that they would definitely go for an appeal.

[00:08:05]So before they could go for an appeal they wanted to take this action. So that is why this raid at multiple places took place. But what it was met with was absolute uh vandalism that had occurred.

[00:08:16]These enforcement directed officials, at least five of them, four men and one woman I could observe. All of them literally ran for their life. There were CRPF who couldn't do anything. There were 100 policemen who couldn't do anything. And bricks, uh, stones, bottles, helmets, everything was thrown at them. And we could see I could we could capture young SFI CADS kicking this uh you know standing right in front of this car and stopping this vehicle and breaking the glass. In fact all parts of the car were completely shattered and this is what has essentially transpired in the capital city of Thurvantapuram in what could probably be the trailer of what could happen when the left is in the opposition.
