Overachieving to compensate for past pain or inadequacies is just as destructive as addiction because it provides temporary relief while the underlying nervous system issues remain unresolved, and society's praise for success makes it even more dangerous since it reinforces the behavior without forcing individuals to confront their true needs.

Overachieving Is Just as Destructive as Addiction | Gabby ReeceAdded:
I started thinking of maybe 10 years ago, oh, I'll shift it. We're given to our parents, they're given to us. Like it's a whole thing. And I used to think, oh, that was the homework. You're born and God goes, here's your homework. And we all have different homework. And when we can look at it and say, oh, I didn't know how to solve that problem, now I do. I've been really studying and working on my homework and trying to get back to love or to healing or to acceptance and not to blaming or making excuses. And like in my case, overachieving to compensate, which is just as bad as like people do if they become like drug addicts or this way they go, oh, they're this. It's almost more dangerous.
>> Yes, because it's like, well, this works.
>> Right. And society >> they go, good job.
>> Yes. Wow, you're rich, you're successful, you're whatever, right?
>> And so I think it's so important for people to realize sometimes even the things that work, it's okay to question those. Sometimes people look at from the outside and they go, well, that person has it together. It's like, no, that's dangerous, too. And that's suffering, too.
