Fire danger is assessed by analyzing multiple weather factors including temperature, wind speed, humidity, and cloud coverage; elevated fire threats can persist even when temperatures decrease due to strong upper-level winds and gusty surface winds, requiring continuous monitoring and warning systems to protect communities.

Fire concerns continue across the state into the workweek追加:
It's been another hot one with that elevated fire threat, and as we head into the beginning of the work week, we'll see that continuing. As we look out over Sandia Peak at our time-lapse today, we can see increasing cloud coverage in place this evening. That's been building throughout the day, keeping those temperatures a bit warm, slightly cooler than yesterday though, 83° here in Albuquerque at this time, but we do have some gusty winds, 31 mph wind gusts currently here across the metro. As you look elsewhere across the state seeing temperatures ranging from right around 70° into the mid-90s. So, we have seen some cooler weather moving into southwestern Colorado, northern parts of New Mexico.
And we'll see these cooler conditions continuing into tomorrow for some areas.
But, looking ahead at our satellite and radar, once again, have that swath of cloud coverage that's continuing to push through. No moisture really associated with that. We're staying dry for the rest of the day today. Could see a few shower chances picking up tomorrow up north, but we do still have those red flag warnings in place for the majority of the state until 9:00 p.m. tonight.
We're going to see these reissued once again tomorrow as we have that fire threat thanks to those upper-level winds continue to strengthen throughout the day Monday. That in turn will bring in some strong wind gusts at the surface up to 55 mph potentially. But, we also have these cold fronts that have moved through by tomorrow afternoon. That will have cooled those temperatures down a bit across the state ranging from highs in the low 60s into the mid-90s. But, we're also going to see that elevated to enhanced fire threat out across the entirety of the state even under that extreme level there in east-central parts of New Mexico. So, keep an eye out for that as we head into the day.
Northern parts of the region could see a few showers moving in tomorrow afternoon along with those gusty winds from time to time with wind gusts up to 55 mph possible as we head into our Monday afternoon. Temperatures up north will continue to slightly cool into Tuesday before we start to see more chances of some showers, of some storms in place out across large parts of New Mexico throughout the middle to end of the week. That will keep those temperatures near to slightly below average as we head into the second half of the week.
But as we look into the central parts of New Mexico, we once again will see highs near average tomorrow along with those gusty winds before we start to see a very brief warm up through the end of the week, but overall staying dry.
