High humidity reduces the body's ability to cool itself through sweat evaporation, making the perceived temperature (heat index) significantly higher than the actual air temperature, which can lead to dangerous heat stress symptoms including dizziness, vomiting, and fainting.

Thunderstorm development in the forecast for Friday and Saturday evenings
Added:All right, the Pepto-Bismol planet.
That's nice.
>> No, aw, come on. That's a daisy planet.
That's a princess planet.
>> I'm wearing pink today.
>> director, Summer and I want to That's the planet we want to go to. Oh, there you go.
>> See?
>> We support pink. Forget the red planet.
We want the pink planet.
>> That's right. Here we go. All right, we're talking about hot corsets. It's hot out there right now. The extreme heat warning is still in effect till 8:00 for the entire valley and tomorrow we'll have another advisory for you. 81° tonight overnight.
Mostly clear, hot and humid. That's just the way it rolls, but things are improving in the forecast by the weekend. Heading out the door in the morning, 86 and partly cloudy and icky as it'll be plenty muggy outside.
Running 95 by noon, 97 by afternoon. Be 100 plus in the upper valley and looking at southeast breezes 10 to 15 gusting 20 to 25. So, a little bit on the breezy side.
As the day wears on, as I said, we're going to get hot. You bet you. We're going to run up to see 96, 97° from 1:00 to 3:00 and it will feel more like 115.
So, the usual rules are still in effect for breaks and water and pets and all of that. 98 the forecast high for tomorrow McAllen, 96 Brownsville, 88 on the island, but there's good news for the island forecast. 102 Rio Grande City, but the dangerous heat index is going to be crushing everybody again tomorrow. Not as bad as today, but pretty bad. Extreme heat watch is in effect for the entire valley from one end to the other. There you go. So, be sure to take it easy out there with your, you know, temperature of 95°. Let's say it's your house, all right? And then you take all that humidity into account and now it feels like 115 because your body can't cool as efficiently if it's humid outside because the sweat evaporating off your skin is what cools you and then that sweat won't evaporate as quickly if it's all soupy outside. So again, we're going to feel more like 113 tomorrow at Brownsville, 105 on the island, 115 Lyford, 116 McAllen, 120 La Joya. So it's still going to be a mighty hot day for tomorrow. Heat stress threat remains dangerous. In other words, you could succumb to heat stress. That is, you get dizzy, your ears are ringing, you throw up, you maybe pass out. Any of those things can happen from heat stress. So be good. Slow down out there.
Check the back seat, parents. Stay hydrated. Drink water. I don't care if you're thirsty or not.
Cuz when you're my age or older, once you're thirsty, you're already starting to dehydrate.
Don't forget your AC filters and check on those that you think may be struggling with staying cool. Don't forget the pets. Now, looking at what might happen over Friday and Saturday, we might see some high pressure that's over us might relax its grip and allow showers and thunderstorms to develop over the mountains of Mexico. Some of those could spill into western parts of the valley Friday night and again Saturday afternoon. So we'll keep an eye on that for you. Beach forecast, here we go. 86, 87° air temperature.
Wow, more cloud cover on Saturday, but still okay, no problem. And in water temperature of 80°. Get in the car, we're going to the island. All right, cuz it's just going to be nice. Drought monitor shows that the drought conditions even upstate are improving and we don't have any drought conditions in terms of short-term soil moisture situation. Our reservoirs are still in trouble. 7-day forecast shows that we have that shot at a shower Saturday afternoon, but that's it. Back to normal as we get to the weekend.
