Marco Rubio To Visit India Ahead Of Quad Meeting And G7 Summit | U.S-India Ties | N18G | 4K VideoAdded:
As America gets ready to celebrate our 250th birthday, we look forward to doing it with our partners in India. India is the world's largest democracy and we are the world's oldest. So, we look forward to celebrating together. The first big visit of Secretary Marco Rubio to India will commence from 23rd May. Rubio will be visiting four Indian cities including New Delhi. He'll be taking part in couple of meetings in New Delhi including some events at the US Embassy.
He will also be participating in the National Day event of the US Embassy.
On 26th May, there's going to be Quad Foreign Ministers meeting which will be taking place in New Delhi. In fact, Foreign Minister of Japan and Australia are also traveling to New Delhi for the same.
Marco Rubio will also be holding bilateral talks with the EMS Jai Shankar and NSA Doval and will be calling on Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with other Quad Foreign Ministers.
This is a second high-level visit from the United States to India and first visit after the rough patch in relationship due to US stance after Operation Sindoor, tariffs, additional tariffs, etc. etc. Many are calling it a repair visit. Secretary Rubio is also National Security Advisor of the United States and somebody who is able to find a fine balance between President's priorities and traditional foreign policy approach of the United States.
The focus of this visit will be on energy cooperation, more trade and defense cooperation and also to build trust and positive atmosphere which was missing in the relationship from last one year.
Of course, a big credit also goes to US Ambassador Sergio Gor for bringing relationship back on track. He used his clout in DC to make DC realize the importance of this relationship. Ambassador Gor and Secretary Rubio get along very well.
So, a lot is riding on this visit of Secretary Rubio to India.
Also, it is expected PM Modi will be meeting President Trump on the sidelines of G7 Summit in France. So, both India and the United States will use this as an opportunity to decide the agenda and do a groundwork before the big meeting.
