This weather forecast from KSL TV for May 11, 2026, predicts record-breaking heat in Salt Lake City with a high of 93°F, combining with very dry conditions and low humidity in southern Utah to create elevated fire danger. The forecast explains that triple-digit temperatures, low humidity, and gusty winds create the recipe for increased fire risk. Temperatures will drop to the low 70s by Thursday behind a cold front, with isolated mountain showers expected on Wednesday afternoon and evening. The forecast also notes that water temperatures remain cold (52°F at Bear Lake, 63°F at Utah Lake) despite the hot air temperatures, and that a low pressure system will move into the Pacific Northwest on Wednesday and Thursday, bringing additional weather changes.

Afternoon weather forecast, May 11, 2026Added:
Well, it sure is hot. I mean, I I know we're kind of enjoying it, but we really don't want to see this kind of weather when we talk about fire danger.
>> Yeah, especially because it is combining with very dry, low humidity in southern Utah. So, I know that fire is in northern Arizona, but fire danger is elevated for us here in Utah, mainly in southern Utah with when you have tripledigit temperatures and you have very low humidity and gusty winds, which we will have on Wednesday. That's the recipe for elevated fire concern. Now, here's how things are looking out there across northern Utah. This is Utah Lake at Lynen Marina. There were a couple of boats going out, so I know these temperatures are making us feel like it's summer and are pretty representative of early July given that 91 90° is typical of uh July 1st and July 2nd. So, some of our water temperatures, while it looks nice, it's still very cold. I mean, 52 degrees at Bear Lake. And then the water temperature at Utah Lake is about 63 degrees and even cooler down south at San Hollow around 62. Upper 80s right now for temperatures in Moab. Upper 90s in St. George. You can see Las Vegas now has jumped up to 104. We're sitting at 90 degrees now in Salt Lake after peaking at around 92. And it's 84 degrees in Logan. Clear and quiet skies not only across Utah, but really much of the southwestern or western United States because of the strong high pressure system. Now, this will shift slightly to the east tomorrow, but it's still going to be in control and we'll have another day with record warmth.
Eventually, the low pressure system that we still see well over the Pacific will move into the Pacific Northwest and northern Rockies Wednesday and Thursday, and that will offer some changes for our 7-day forecast. So, for now, as the high shifts ever so slightly to the east tomorrow, we will see temperatures actually warm a degree or two. So, we have a forecast high of 93 degrees here in Salt Lake City, which would uh beat the daily record high tomorrow, which is 92. Now, as we look ahead to Wednesday morning, that low pressure system will begin to move on shore. The wet weather with this storm system will stay to our northwest and our north, but we will see a cold front come through that'll give way uh to some isolated mountain showers. This will be Wednesday in the afternoon and early evening. Again, most of these showers will develop up in the mountains, but they could roll over to an adjacent valley. more so they're not going to produce a lot of rain, but they will produce some gusty winds. And really statewide winds will be elevated on Wednesday just because of these two storm systems kind of passing through.
By Thursday morning, that cold front is to our southeast. And we will see temperatures drop from 90° Wednesday to the low 70s on Thursday. And then we have another temperature drop kind of later in the 7-day forecast that you'll see in just a moment. So for central Utah tomorrow, low 90s in Nephi, Delta, Manti, Richfield, Southern Utah, near 90 degrees in Beaver, Cedar City, low 90s in Canab, 97 degrees in Moab. St. George could have their first triple digit day of the year, 101 tomorrow, dropping to 94 on Wednesday, then kind of on either side of 90 for the rest of the 7-day forecast. Upper 80s in Logan, near 90s in Hebrew City tomorrow. Uh for the Wasatch front, we'll be in the low 90s.
It'll feel very similar to how it feels out there right now. Hot 90° on Wednesday. We drop to the low 70s on Thursday behind that cold front. And then another dip in the 7-day forecast.
Mid70s Saturday to mid60s on Sunday. So, a little up and down here.
>> Yeah, it is. That's all right though.
Time of year, right?
>> You can handle it. Thank you.
