Only black Republican in Ohio House loses primary for majority white congressional district

[00:00:00]Derek Merrin won the nomination with I believe it was 44% [music] of the vote.

[00:00:05]So, that means over 50% of Republicans in the 9th District did not vote for Derek Merrin. And now they're going to possibly, probably, most likely vote for him in November, even though they didn't want him as the candidate.

[00:00:20]Cuz that's how Republicans roll. They vote for the people that they didn't like in the first place because party politics means more than anything.

[00:00:30]But I was happy, actually, that Josh Williams lost.

[00:00:34]He didn't even win his home county, Lucas County. And so, I knew that he was going to have a problem running for the 9th District. And those rural people in Northwest Ohio, they're not Ku Klux Klan racist, but they're less likely to vote for a black person.
