Order Matters—But Is That an Arrow of Time?

In reversible systems, order dependence (non-commutativity of operations) and arrow of time (distinguishable forward vs. backward histories) are independent phenomena; a system can have order dependence without an arrow, and an arrow can only arise from an internal biased clock, not from the order dependence itself.
