In Indian state politics, leadership transitions involve formal party processes where outgoing leaders propose new leaders, followed by high command decisions and strategic cabinet formation that balances factional interests while considering upcoming elections.

BREAKING: DK Shivakumar Elected As CLP Leader, To Be Sworn In As Karnataka CM SoonAdded:
As expected. So that is what is coming in from the Vidhansoudha after that D K Shiva Kumar is the CLP leader. So it was actually a formality after what has been decided by the party high command that he is to now be sworn in as the Karnataka Chief Minister. So the formality has been done.
CLP Leader It Is. DK Shiv Kumar Afreen.
Well absolutely griha yes the CLP meeting started a while ago after Siddaramaiah entered the Vidhan Sabha and he went on to the third floor where the decision is being made and we are getting to know that like Siddaramaiah had previously mentioned during his breakfast meeting at his official residence also he had said that he would be the one to mention the name of DK Shivakumar at the CLP meeting and that is what we are picking up here also he has been named and officially this comes to an and DK Shivakumar is ah ah Chief Minister designate now from here the next course of action is that he will head to the Lok Bhavan ah and he will go ahead with the formalities and the protocols that has to be completed ah going forward for him to stake claim and form the Government griha.
Well absolutely. And Pallavi, all eyes are on this big meeting. Now it's finally concluded. The formality has been done. It was directly Ramaiah proposing the name of DK Shivakumar as a CLP leader. Now the Chief Minister elected for Karnataka.
Absolutely one thing I mean up until now, after years of covering the Congress party, I think this is for the first time in a long time I have seen them make a decision so smoothly and so quickly. In a span of three to four days, you have a new Chief Minister of Karnataka and this is a decision which was waiting to happen in the last three years, but the high command as they have called has never mastered that kind of courage. We have been analysing in deep also that why is it that finally Rahul Gandhi was able to take a bite of the cookie and how is he able to take that planchette finally to decide that time has come.
So Hans on What Happens Now this is just a technique. I think the most important job now before the top leadership is to be the cabinet formation, as we have been reporting at two, 10 ministers are likely to take the oath along with the CM designate. And you have the Congress party cannot afford to have a full-fledged cabinet taking oath and the reason is that Rajya Sabha elections are coming up it would be really suicidal it would be deeply embarrassing if the Congress party does not win and loses even one of the two Rajya Sabha seats and then you have to dangle this carrot of hope in front of all the MLAs. We no Sherin, ah you no Afreen, Harish, me all of us have been getting multiple voices of many MLAs and all of them have been saying one thing we do want to become a minister. So how do they decide whose camp gets to be the one which decides where they will have the maximum number of ministers. Straight Ramya Wood Certainly Wants His People To Be Accommodated.
So that in a convoluted way, he has control and a grip over the new government. Ah DK Shivakumar has said only one thing. I want to be a real CM. Them. I don't want to be a rubber stamp Chief Minister. It should be my gubbins, my team and I'm going to take everyone along.
As a state Congress chief, that was his job to try and take everyone along.
As a chief minister, he will have to deliver because this is the same government which is going to face elections in 2028.
Ah eventually and frankly speaking just has one and a half years left. We have to complete his work. There is plenty on the agenda, plenty of perceptions, which need to be cost corrected. There for a cabinet formation who are they going to be the bunch of ministers are going to take charge that work they are going to get down from later to night ah KC Venugopal Randeep Surjewala Seedha Ramaiah and of course DK Shivakumar all of them are going to be deciding this so this is going to the next big step third around 5:15 PM as we have been reporting they are going to be the oath of DK Shiva Kumar.
Ok. Ah so like Pallavi was mentioning after so many factions hectic parties are going on they are lobbying so that they can get that ministerial berth but initially to down any flame of factionalism probably they are looking at just five to 10 a small group of ministers not even 10, 10 is the number on the higher side who possibly are going to be taking oath along with DK Shivakumar. Is that right?
Well, absolutely, Griha, that is the information that we are picking up along with DK Shiva Kumar, it would be approximately 8 to 10 MLAs who are going to take oath, and the high command is trying to balance out the permutations and competitions, when it comes to who these eight to 10 people are going to be, they are going to try and take more than two people from DK Shivakumar camp as well as Siddaramaiah camp, so that there is no disentanglement among any of the camps, and they are trying to also here that some of the faces that were already part of the cabinet will be again reinducted along with some fresh faces who, like I already mentioned, are going to be part of DK Shiva Kumar camp and a few others from Siddaramaiah camp, so that the high command is here trying to balance out, rule out all equations where There could be any tension, there could be any dissent or anybody upset with how the cabinet is going to be formed and we are also picking up that the cabinet expansion will happen by June 18 that is when the Rajya Sabha polls are going to happen after that it is going to get completed is what we are hearing.
Wright and Pallavi The next step is of course the Deputy Chief Minister Kurandram Siddaramaiah camp wants different Deputy Chief Ministers to cater to the various communities in Karnataka. Let's stay on with us Pallavi.
