The White House paused military strikes on Iran to review a peace proposal, while maintaining military readiness with troops 'locked and loaded' and enforcing a naval blockade around the Strait of Hormuz that has redirected approximately 89 ships; intelligence reports indicate 10 mines have been identified in the waterway, and the Senate is advancing legislation requiring congressional approval before future military strikes in the Middle East.

White House reviews Iran peace proposal after Trump delays strikes at request of Arab partnersAdded:
Turning out of the war in Iran where the White House is still reviewing the peace proposal sent over by the regime.
Earlier this week, the president paused starting up strikes on Iran again in order to review this proposal. And the president says the troops in the Middle East are locked and loaded. They're ready to strike should the US move again.
I'll tell you what, when we explain it to people I don't really have enough time to explain to people. I'm too busy getting it done.
Uh when they understand, I think it's a very I think it's frankly very popular.
But whether it's popular or not popular, I have to do it because I'm not going to let the world be blown up on my watch. Listen all that construction noise there in the background. That was yesterday.
Meantime, CENTCOM forces continue enforcing the blockade around the Strait of Hormuz this morning. They posted some new video in the past 24 hours showing the military there chasing off a cargo ship that was trying to run right through the blockade. Since it started, CENTCOM has redirected about 89 ships trying to leave that area. There are also concerns about mines in the Strait of Hormuz. According to a recent intelligence report, the United States forces have identified and found 10 mines that are in the waterway. And that's going to be one of the biggest problems if they don't find them all once the ships finally able to flow through and the strait reopens. They're going to hopefully have all those mines gone by then. Finally, on Capitol Hill, the Senate advancing a resolution that would limit the president's war powers.
Under the legislation, the president would have to get congressional approval before launching new strikes in the Middle East. While the bill does advance here, it still has to clear congressional hurdles. So, you might see some headlines and think, "Well, this is the end of the road." Well, it's not. It just has to make it now through the Senate vote before it goes on to the house. So, definitely more hurdles ahead before it reins in Donald Trump.
