We finally did it Ep 143
Added:Yes, it finally works. I KNEW IT. YES.
THAT WAS A PRETTY FUNNY video with Jan. That was created with AI with a buddy of ours.
That was pretty fun stuff. Anyway, good morning. Welcome to another week at the High Maintenance Shack.
Uh we've got lots of shenanigans going on this week.
First one is we're going to be installing windshields in High Maintenance this week.
So, I have to get the edges lined with felt for the installation.
Um these are the original windows. They're not perfect, but they are what we are and replacements are like five grand a piece.
So, we'll make do with what we have.
They're going to work just fine.
Uh also, uh I alluded to last week, we're going to get the carburetors hooked up for the first time and get the carburetors wet. Make sure we don't have any fuel leaks anywhere in the system.
And then we're going to have to get a bunch of fuel to test the fuel level sender gaskets to make sure that they don't leak.
And then we finally got a replacement panel for that nacelle.
So, we've got it all polished up.
We still need to get some paint on the inside of the door.
But all of this stuff is going to come culminate here hopefully by Thursday.
No, I'm just kidding. People ask me when we're going to fly, I'll say Thursday, but I don't know which Thursday.
Anyway, I'm going to start getting this windshield all lined and uh looking forward to getting the windshields in.
Okay, it's going to be a big day here at the High Maintenance Hangar.
Thought we were going to be installing windshields this week, but there was some complications with the installers.
So, at this point it'll be next week.
In the meantime, picked up one of the final pieces for our fire suppression system.
We still need to send the bottles out and have them hydro-tested and painted and filled and then that'll be the final thing for the fire extinguisher system.
And then right now, we're getting set up to pump fuel up to the carburetors to check for make sure we don't have any leaks.
So, stand by. Hang on a minute.
Well, so the good news is after all of that, um we don't have any leaks.
Uh uh that is great news.
And now we got to get some more fuel in it, so we know we don't have leaks where the fuel level senders are.
We have this poor this poor guy here is here to help us cuz we have to climb into some really nasty places. Yeah, it's tight. So, we're going to be standing on this scaffold trying to get up in here.
First thing we got to do is we've got to safe put some safety wire on one of the control cables. Then when we get the induction unit on, we'll uh have to tie up the other control cable.
In the meantime, we're going to try to uh put the uh put the boot on the the induction unit and put the Zeus fasteners in and connect the control cable for the carb heat, which is Hold on just a minute. Uh which is all the way up in there where Doug's trying to get stuff done.
All right.
All right, Doug's already got safety wire threaded through the hole and he's already poked himself with safety wire, so he's off finding a Band-Aid.
He likes safety wiring just about as much as I do.
Maybe.
Anyway, we're going to get this twisted to about where this this here is where the carb heat function cable goes in.
And so, he's going to get it twisted to about there and then once we get the induction unit on, we'll uh we'll finish the twist.
Yeah.
Yeah.
All right.
Got it.
Good enough.
>> Okay.
That's a groovy start.
And I think I think with that we're ready to make sure we know what we're doing to put the induction unit on.
All right, so before we put this on now talking to some of the other Invader guys they put these in dry, but this is not very stretchy.
So, we're just going to put some old ring lube on this just to help us get this on here.
Okay.
>> [laughter] >> Okay, I'll set this up in here. You're going to have to be cognizant of where this other cable has to go.
Well, I don't know. It's got to go there. Uh hand me that front clamp.
Yeah, it's right here. Never mind. I have it. Never mind.
Okay, that's in position and that one's in position.
All right.
Here we go.
Okay.
All right.
I think I've got it.
Take another route.
Don't worry about the pedal later. Okay.
Do it again. Take it out.
>> Okay.
What do you think?
Man, can you get again like you, Nick?
I did. All right.
Ha, okay.
>> You got it?
>> I got it around the corner.
>> Hip hip hooray.
>> Yeah.
All right, I'll don't you guys get inside?
>> [laughter] >> Hey folks, the French dropped a few pictures of what they've been doing over there in France. They're still getting along really well. They've been able to make their own uh control cables.
Nifty stuff.
Okay.
It's been a long day.
But, this is all it is all Zeus'd down, cables hooked up, the uh we start with these covers on.
Let me get up in the other side.
We've got everything tied off up there.
We have There's a couple more things we have to do in here.
We have to tie off this wire bundle up there.
But, essentially this is getting very close to being done.
Still have to put on the exhaust and the cowl flaps on this side.
Those are something that I can do alone.
Nate and Doug were just absolutely stellar.
It's been a long day. It's hot, tired.
But, we're going to go get started on the other side.
But, in the meantime, we'll do that off camera. I'm tired.
And maybe Wednesday-ish, we'll have that done.
Also, uh supposed to get the windshields installed on Wednesday.
Be a good thing.
We'll be back.
>> Thank you.
Bob Bob is really confused. He thinks He doesn't know it's Friday.
He doesn't know what day it is. He's out to lunch.
>> Well, I I was thinking it was Monday and I was going to go about my business.
Anyway, appreciate you guys watching this >> [snorts] >> do make fools of ourselves.
We'll We'll see you >> easy to do, isn't it?
>> [laughter] >> We'll see you next week. Thanks for watching.
