This Week in YouTube Golf - Good Good Drops a New Channel Plus a Whole Lot More!

[00:00:00]new series we're kicking off here this week in YouTube golf we're calling it.

[00:00:07]So we'll go over what's happening the current week and little tidbits and insights that we can pick up from along the way. So if you like it great we'll keep it rolling. If you don't then it will be one and done. But uh nonetheless, I like to stay uh up todate what's going on so that we can kind of understand the trends and the little information bits that we can gather as we go. One of the biggest things that I I think is one of the biggest things kind of shocking funny at the same time is with good good. All right, we've got good good massive channel, right? We got good good extra right there. Extra channel. We've got good good pros.

[00:00:56]So, we got that channel. We got good good girls. We got that that channel.

[00:01:00]Now, there's a new one. Good mini golf. Check this out. They just launched their mini golf channel. Uh, first video, the mini golf major.

[00:01:15]I mean, this is kind of cool. What other good good channels are we gonna see?

[00:01:19]It's kind of funny, but I like it. They know what they're doing. They make good content. So, it's I would imagine all mini golf, which they've done mini golf.

[00:01:29]Garrett's done mini golf videos. And there is like a cult following in the mini golf space. I thought about doing mini golf uh country club review like course reviews of mini golf but it just didn't fit my audience. They're not so much into mini golf but that younger audience is. So I never did it but they're doing it. They're doing a whole channel good mini golf. They know what they're doing.

[00:01:58]So congrats to good good. I I like the logo. I like the design. They got a great team over there. So, I would imagine we're going to have some pretty cool teams out there in uh or videos surrounding the world of mini golf. So, if you're into that, check that out.

[00:02:15]Now, what is has Good good been doing this this week?

[00:02:22]They are on their fifth episode of their survival series. kind of a Survivor knockoff or owed to Survivor obviously by the look of the um thumbnails, but and the the uh format of the videos, but their number one video of that was their first video. Obviously, the thumbnail of that blows all the others away with their heads in the sand. So, that was pretty um great thumbnail design there. The rest of them are great. They're just crushing it though with their survival. Not survivor. I would imagine there's some trademarking issues if you went survivor. So they did survival.

[00:03:07]Good idea. Wonder what's next. Maybe they will do like an amazing race. Uh good good amazing golf race or something like that where they're zipping all around the planet. Who knows? I would imagine that would be something they've at least kicked around. the good good survivor survival series crushing it right now. Okay, so that's been good.

[00:03:32]Here's what's also kind of intrigued me a little bit is this foreplay and they did a collab this week with the Brian Bros is the Brian Bros challenged us to a match. I want to know like everybody's doing these challenge matches. How do you officially challenge somebody? Because I want to challenge somebody. I got somebody in mind. Well, I'll I'll share that at the end of the video. But I want to challenge somebody.

[00:04:02]How do you officially do that? Is there a bullet bulletin board we posted on?

[00:04:06]Well, I'm going to post it here. So, this will be my official challenge. We'll see if the challenge gets accepted or not. I don't do a lot of these style videos, so I would I love to do more. I would love to do them. Uh but nonetheless, the Brian Bros apparently challenge for play. So that video is doing uh pretty well. Just got launched today, so it's in its beginning stages of doing well, but I just was curious how we officially challenge someone. There's a lot of challenging going on. All right, next on the docket is Bryson's channel. Bryson's been in the news a lot lately for a lot of different reasons. mostly not good.

[00:04:52]Withdrawing from the Live Mexico event, his performance at Augusta National, is he going to stay on live? Is he going to go? He even today indicated in an interview that he was committed to live golf, that he was he as long as Liv was around, he was going to do his best to be there, and they're trying to work out all the details to keep him there. Nonetheless, he drops his video with Garrett Clark where they see, can they beat two randoms? Basically, two random golfers think they could beat us.

[00:05:29]I'll be honest. Um, are there truly any random golfers that think they could beat Bryson? I don't think so. I don't think just two dudes think, "Hey, bro, I think you and me could beat Bryson." And then Bryson gets a partner. Not that he needs one, but just in case Bryson hit a nonplayable shot, you got Garrett or Bryson has Garrett putt first so he can read the break and see the line and then make the putt himself. So, nonetheless, they take on two randoms.

[00:06:07]It's a interesting idea.

[00:06:10]It's just tough to be believable for me to say like, "Oh, that's something I think could be a reality." I I just think it's kind of fake. Fake in terms of no random golfers are really going to think they can beat one of the best players in the world. So, interesting concept. I'm not knocking on it, but that's out there. You let me know if you when you see it. If you see it. I didn't watch that one. I watch a little bit of it, but I'm like then I started thinking like I don't think it's so random. I don't think they're so random. So, uh, we'll see. It's It's doing well on his channel, but it's kind of in the middle tier of what views he typically gets for that period of time. It's not like a one of 10. It's not a 10 of 10. It's like right in the middle. It's average. But that's good. I mean, he still gets a ton of views. Then, let's move along to what I really enjoyed was this from Grant Horvat, the Brian Bros, and the Lads. I haven't watched much of the Lads channel. Uh, I've seen some pieces of it here and there, but nothing I really watch. But I watched this first video on Grant Horvat's channel, which has over a million views. So Grant's channel always gets the most views, even though it's like all the same content. It's interesting to me that one channel just gets way more views than the others. And uh although it's the same video and so it's weird. It's that if you watch Grant's channel and you like that video, I would assume you would jump over to Brian Bros, but they kind of get the second most and then the lads get the third most. But I went to the lads channel because I really like the first one. I wanted to kind of see how it ended and it ended at TPC Sawrass, the back nine, one of the most amazing places to play golf or to watch golf.

[00:08:18]And it was interesting.

[00:08:20]I really was like to me the person who stole the show was that guy Bat. He in my opinion uh he's one of the most likable and the most relatable because he's a great player but he he hit a lot of bad shots and so it was kind of fun to see him go through that. To me it was just like you're good, right? You're a great player, but you're not necessarily performing like a PGA Tour pro and you're more performing like I would perform. I mean, you could hit good shots, but you're going to hit some squirrely ones here and there and it was just fun to watch and he had the greatest attitude. So, for me, he was really like the most enjoyable part of this series. So, hats off to Bat.

[00:09:10]Congratulations. I really enjoyed watching the content and how you were in the content. So, I'm like it was the um the award for most entertaining creator of the week bat from me there. I just made that up. It's part of the series.

[00:09:26]Congratulations. We should do that at the end. I did it in the middle of the video. But the um he won the first ever um YouTube this week in YouTube golf content uh creator of the week. Yeah, entertainer of the week. Whatever. We got to come up with a cool name. Bat, you're the winner. So, here we go.

[00:09:48]Moving on to the next uh channel, which is u the Boba Sports Crew. These guys absolutely crush it. And uh they had their video where um they had a meltdown stroke play meltdown. Okay, cool. They crush it.

[00:10:12]They are crushing it in views. They drop these videos. They're all kind of the same, but they get massive views. They have a huge, huge fan base. So congratulations uh Bob does sports and uh I think Joey is just the the perfect candidate to kind of go through golf golf is what we call it. So good job. Good job Bob does sports 1.2 million views at the time of filming this video. Now, one of the couple um couple more to call out here was uh one is this one. Peter Finch. He released his video match this week against Ian Palter. So, they're doing nine holes on Finch's channel and then nine holes on Ian Palter's channel. So, Peter Finch is kind of doing the Rick Shields little bit where he does a lot with uh the Liv players and he does a lot with other players too. So, he is bouncing around.

[00:11:19]He was at Harbortown. He was at Sawrass a while ago. Now, he's released his video with Ian Palter. Interesting because Palter is a fun person to watch.

[00:11:29]He's very entertaining, engaging, fun YouTube personality. He's got his YouTube channel and they have a great battle and I watched his first episode.

[00:11:41]Entertaining and surprising. So, that's a good video. I would recommend that.

[00:11:49]one also I watched which I don't typically watch um this person uh much but it it kind of turned me on to a lot of other things that some other interesting things that were going on and I saw the thumbnail because I was searching for thumbnails for a video I did where I went and competed in some I'm like restarting my career and I'm going level by level by level. So, I was in search of like I needed some creative thumbnail ideas and I was having a tough time and I tried like five or six different thumbnail styles. Anyways, I stumbled across this. I didn't steal his um thumbnail, but I saw this and I liked it and it's from Evan Thompson and it says, "My first win on a pro tour." on a tour. My first win on a pro tour. on a tour and I was like, "Oh, did this guy win a tournament?" So, I watched that video and interesting video and I'm not going to spoil anything. I mean, the title kind of gives it away, but it was interesting. And then I was more interested so in the tour itself, and it's this here, and I'll show it to you. It's this Malban buckets cup. I didn't even know this tour existed. But Malban, the clothing manufacturer, has a tour where they play Tory Pines. They're playing PacMo. They played Evan played and filmed the one at Panther National in Florida. So, good players. And they have um different divisions. So they have a pro division and an amateur division and they pay a lot of money but you get to play these pretty epic courses like Tory Positbo Panther um Swani and there's one at uh Planefield Chambers Bay Conway Farms Merido I mean these are exclusive courses Pioneers non-sponsored video I just saw this I was like oh this is interesting 750 bucks to play so I mean you have to get there and get your room.

[00:14:11]But if there's one near your house and you wanted to play, let's say, Pasatmpo, which they just went through a major redesign, that was pretty interesting. I thought that was really cool. So, the Malbond's Buckets Cup, Malbond is doing some crazy stuff. Remember, they had that house that they rented at Augusta for the week and they would open it to the public and you could come in and like hang out. I wish I was in town. I would have totally went there. It seemed like a good time. So, good job, Evan, on your video. And let's um um I I've just messaged Evan a time or two. I've never We used to work out at the same gym at in Georgia when I lived there. He would be there and people were like they would see me and they would say, "Hey, Evan Thompson was just here."

[00:14:58]I never saw him there, but apparently um we would almost cross paths a few times.

[00:15:03]But nonetheless, he's at 99,000 subscribers on his channel. So, go there and just give him a He just needs a few hundred more to break 100,000. So, shout out to Evan. Great job. Uh you're going to break um 100K soon. Now, that's going to be cool. He also he said in his video that he's preparing for a lot of competitive golf coming up. So, is he going to be part of the your golf tour, the YGT?

[00:15:36]I think at this point there's a high probability that he is just based on he said that it kind of threw out a little nugget for us. I he also said he was prepping to qualify for like the US Open and he's got some qualifiers up. So, there's that, too. He could be qualifying. It could be the other thing, the York Golf Tour. Who knows? but he's a good player and um he might be entertaining on the your golf tour. The last thing that's going on this week is right here. This is happening as we speak. It's the grass leagues qualifier. The grass league qualifier field. So what happens is the grass league is a team event par three course they're playing at rolling hills grass clippings in Scottsdale as we speak and this is the leaderboard as you can see for the 18hole qualifier I competed in this last year a year ago and look at this you look at these tea times there's people yet to tee off now this is horrible you see like um Mason Nut and Colance like they have one of the last tea times.

[00:16:55]This was myself and my partner Mike last year we had one of the latest tea times.

[00:17:02]That is the worst possible tea time you could have at this thing because it took us and I like the grass league so don't get me wrong when I say this. I like it.

[00:17:14]But these 10 unders, nine unders, eight unders, they all went early this year.

[00:17:19]And the same thing happened last year.

[00:17:21]If you're out early, you can go low. We teed off late. We didn't get done till like after it was nearly 1 in the morning. But when we walked off that golf course, it took us 6 and 1 half hours to play 18 holes of twoman scramble golf on a par three course. It was horrible. We were five under going into 15 and we had to wait over an hour in the dark and cold waiting to hit our shots because there was such a backup.

[00:17:52]Then we double bogey that hole and then we were just done. We couldn't wait to leave. So it was torture. So good luck um Mason and Cole cuz uh I would imagine you're going to like like how did we get this time? Sadly that's what's probably uh going to happen. But nonetheless, Grass League, these teams, 25 of the qualifiers are in the draft for the event that's coming up on Friday, Saturday. So, the draft is tomorrow, Thursday, then Friday, Saturday, two-day event, grass league, uh, is happening. So, that's this week in golf. Let me know what you think of the episode.
