The Toronto Blue Jays made significant roster moves by designating Eloy Jimenez for assignment after his poor performance (9-for-32, negative WAR) and reinstating George Springer from the 10-day IL, demonstrating how teams evaluate player value based on both offensive production and defensive capabilities while balancing immediate team needs with long-term development of young prospects like Yohan Pinoago.

Jays make MAJOR move... Multiple HUGE Injury Updates | Toronto Blue Jays NewsAñadido:
Some big news to go over today is following the Toronto Jays, kidding yet another series win yesterday. We have multiple moves to go over today including one major move as they have officially gotten rid of a very notable name. I'm going to write down exactly what the move they made is and discuss what it means going forward. But not only that, we do have multiple huge updates ahead of the series starting tonight as not only are more reinforcements coming folks, but vibes are very high and a ton of updates to go alongside it. But before we get into all that, quick reminder to rather quick thank you to hit that rather thank you for your support. Make sure to hit that subscribe button, ladies and gentlemen, and let's dive right into the news. Now folks, yesterday was a fantastic game.
There was absolutely no doubt about it.
A big win. But on the back of that big win and following the big win, we have of course George Springer making his return. We have some young prospects playing extremely well. But let's start with the move of the day and of yesterday and that was George Springer being reinstated from the 10-day IL and of course was active and pinch hit. We all suspect for him to start against the Twins tonight. And the first baseman / outfielder Eloy Jimenez really DH at this point, but he was designated for assignment. Now, I have multiple videos on this. This was actually at this point the move makes total sense, right? I'm not really surprised by it. For a while there up until you know, Eloy Jimenez got cold, there was a lot of conversations about when George Springer comes back, who's going to get sent down, DFA'd? Is it going to be Davis Schneider because he has an option? Is it going to be Lenyn Sosa? Is it going to be Eloy Jimenez?
And Eloy Jimenez ultimately ended up being the I guess the odd man out, you can call it. And again, this was his first time back in major league action since 2024. Finished with a negative one uh point one war. That's because of his defense. A 77 OPS plus good for a 290 average. Didn't show any slug, but he was hot for a while. Like he was hitting when I was making these videos like 340 and he ultimately finished I believe it was nine for and we'll dive into a ton of stuff including some Eric Lauer stuff. But he finished nine for 32 or something like that. So not great. Uh ultimately though, comment down below.
What do you guys think about this?
Because again, it was a very difficult decision for a while. I don't think this one specifically was that difficult now uh because of the fact that Eloy Jimenez they played him a bunch or at least a good bit and they give him an opportunity to see if he could continue to swing the bat decent.
He didn't, right? And and Lenyn Sosa can at least play some defense. So comment down below what your thoughts are on that. Unfortunate uh if you're an Eloy Jimenez fan, he'll get claimed. He'll probably have a decent season elsewhere, but not being able to play any defense at this point of, you know, the Jays team, they need defense if you can't provide with the bat. Now of course, George Springer also is back and he's quietly having a pretty rough year. But again, he didn't miss the he missed a week or two and ultimately has a 672 OPS following yesterday's pinch hit appearance. But folks, getting George Springer back is better than uh better than a lot of fans think for a lot of different reasons. Yes, he's a leader of the clubhouse. Yes, he's having a bit, you know, a bit of a down year thus far in a very short period of time. But there's something else that I want to dive into and also of course last year he had his breakout year, the best season of his career. There's a tip here I want to dive into uh but before I do get into that folks, let me ask you all something before we get into the rest of the news. Have you ever Googled your name? Because if you haven't, it's actually crazy how much of your personal information like your address, phone number, even family details is just sitting online. Again, you DFA Eloy Jimenez, he went nine for 31. You of course have Yohan Pinoago. George Springer is going to provide that spark, right? The spark in the lead-off spot. This has been a team now for the past couple of weeks that of course you're going to always going to miss, you know, George Springer's leadership. But the actual lead-off hitter position, you were rotating between Myles Straw, Ernie Clement, Davis Schneider, and others. Having George Springer in there every single game now in that lead-off spot, lead-off spot sorry, is going to be crucial. It's also going to be crucial to have him in that uh you know, in the pinch hit option like we saw yesterday.
Obviously blew the uh blew the Red Sox out. But comment down below. What are your thoughts on this move? Do you think Eloy Jimenez, you know, should have been you know, should have been kept? And who would you have traded him for I guess in the in the DFA department? But speaking of things going really, really well, the Jays are now won seven of 10 games, three straight series, now on an upward trajectory. You have Yusei Kikuchi Savage coming back. Uh Yusei Savage is back. Springer is back. Bullpen changes have looked really well. We're at a point now and I want everyone for those of you who were around in the Rafael Dolis days in days in 2021, I mean there's a lot of Chase Anderson days, uh which is a little bit crazy. But look at the bullpen now. You have Spencer Miles, the ninth guy in the bullpen, coming out and painting 98 against Roman Anthony I mean it is it is insane to see what has happened. They've weathered the storm. They're playing really good baseball and it doesn't just stop there because you have young guys who are absolutely shining. You're up to 14 now in 16. And one of the most important things is you have a guy now in Yohan Ramirez Pinoago who has been really solid in his very brief period of time and might force the Jays into another difficult decision when Addison Barger returns in the very near future.
You can see here from Mitch Bannon, been really impressed with Yohan Ramirez Pinoago hitting the ball hard which he always has, but in the air a lot more than he has in the minors historically.
Maybe a casualty when Barger returns, but a good crack for the Blue Jays prospect so far. And I'm curious to see what happens cuz he's a lefty bat and he plays the outfield. How long is Davis Schneider going to have? Now of course, you can make the argument again, Pinoago is a left-handed hitter. You can have you're going to have Nathan Lucas, you're going to have other guys.
Schneider's struggling heavily and it's something that I'm not going to talk about in this video cuz the vibes are going to be high. But you look at yesterday's game, right? And the offense has started to look good.
You have Brandon Villano Zuazola hitting two hits. If he can even remotely be instead of like a nine WRC plus like he was before, up to a 59 now following yesterday's game. If he can just be like a mediocre like a bad hitter instead of a completely awful hitter, this team will be in amazing shape. But having young guys like this come up and just be able to perform is exactly what this team needed. It is exactly what this team needed. You need guys to be able to do that. And it gets me super excited.
Now on the same front, he's getting some opportunities because also Lenyn Sosa, infielder, is injured at the moment.
He's dealing with a minor right quad / hip ailment per manager Blue Jays manager John Schneider. Doesn't sound like it'll require an an IL stint, but they're working through his status as well. The reason this is important is because Addison Barger who's coming back soon, they're going to have to make a decision. Pinoago makes by far the most sense to send down. You continue to get him reps. You let him develop in the minor leagues. On the flip side, y- do you really want to even like if you're putting in the best team to win right now, it's probably involving Pinoago. Again, it's a little bit of maybe even overreaction. He hasn't played a ton of games. He looks really good though. And I do think they're going to keep Lenyn Sosa around. But again, with the Davis Schneider conversation, Lenyn Sosa conversation, there's some guys that I'm not going to say their jobs are in jeopardy, but it makes it a little bit interesting. So comment down below your thoughts are on that. Also, Vladdy leading all major league baseball in batting average, had a three for three performance yesterday, being able to get to balls all over the plate. A little bit of luck on the side as well, you know, with skill with luck comes skill of course as well and vice versa. But he's up to hitting 358.
Behind him is Yordan Alvarez, Xavier Excuse me, Xavier Edwards, Yandy Diaz, and Nick Gonzales. Some interesting names there like Yordan you expect, you know, you can expect Yandy. Xavier Edwards and Nick Gonzales some younger players some younger players in Miami and Pittsburgh less highly I guess sought after highly viewed teams and so shout out to those guys. Shout out to Vladdy approaching 360. And shout out to the starter tonight which is going to be Mr. Kevin Gausman versus Bailey Ober. Vladdy crushes Bailey Ober historically. And Patrick Corbin versus Simeon Woods Richardson. Dylan Cease versus Connor Prielipp. And Trevor Richards versus Joe Ryan. That'll be a match up. Hell of a match up on Sunday and we'll keep you up to date every step of the way. Thank you guys for watching. Guys are peace.
