A very good morning to you. Today it is Wednesday. Today it is the 20th of May and it's a very very special day cuz it's my mom's birthday and she is the most wonderful woman in the world. So I've decided today to make some earrings with you. Now they're really lovely. I'm delighted with them. We've got the most beautiful little moon charms on them.
There's a little heart and star cutout shape on those. We've got pretty little biconeses, some chain, and then we have some studs which are star shaped and I will get them out and I will show you them on the mat. So, they're really pretty little earrings. If I just take you quickly down on the mat, you can see how they look. We've got lots of lovely colors.
Really dangly, really lovely. Now, the reason why I'm doing these today is because me and mom always say, "Love you to the moon and back." Now, there's a book that we used to read many moons ago by uh Sam McBratney, I think her name is or their name is, and it's called Guess How Much I Love You. So, it was published in the UK in 1994, and I think it was published in the US in 1995. So, I wanted to include something kind of moon and obviously it's got the little heart cut out as well. Um, and I just thought it was really, really pretty.
Now, obviously, we've got lots of moon kind of themes at the moment, which are very popular because obviously we had Artemus not that long ago. Um, and I just thought they'd be a really nice thing to do today. So, these are the earrings that I'm going to be making with you. Um, so yeah, I mean, the moon and stars, it's it's a symbol for lots of people, for lots of things, isn't it? But, um, I just thought they were pretty. In fact, I'm going to take these ones out and put them in. I might do a mix of the colors as well today. I'm just trying to see.

Um, I'm I'm really really pleased that he he stuck to this name because I just thought um he's called it moon and star on the description, but I wanted to call it moon and back. Um, so these are your earrings today. They're just £249, so for less than 2 pound50, you're getting a gorgeous pair of earrings.
These come with your little rubber backs as well. And all of our um findings are nickelfree. So look how pretty they are.
We've got an amethyst. We've got an green iris, we've got silver, we've got sapphire, and we've got silver peach.
Now, those colors in the description are for the biconeses. So, we're using pretty little biconeses, some little spacer beads, and they're all on kind of like an antiqu silver or yeah, is a silvery finish. That will be your chain, which um I think I'll double check on the the chain. It might be stainless steel, but it is soldered. So, you're going to need to you can cut your chain um to, you know, if you want to change the length of those dangles. And the moons are um the same front and back. I wonder where the moons have gone. There they are. Um so, it doesn't matter which way round you put them. Um I've decided to do them as mirror image cuz I think earrings look lovely when they're mirror image. I'm just going to get my components out while I show you these.
So, £249 today. I'll show you exactly what you're getting in your kit.
So, don't worry if it says anything sold out on the description. All the kits have been put together, so there's plenty available um for you to get them as the kit. So, you're going to make one pair of earrings with your kit. You've got your star stud earrings, which are these shaped at the top, which are really, really pretty. I love them to bits. We've got our chain included.
You're going to get a tiny little jump ring to be able to attach them all on together. You've got your head pin balls, which are these at the bottom that we're going to make our dangles on.
If you want to do a wrapped loop with that, you can do. Just make sure you add your chain in. I'm just going to do a turned loop. So, they're really quick, nice make. You've got your little spacer beads in there. And of course, your gorgeous colored crystal biconeses as well. Your dimensions on things are at the bottom. As I say, please don't worry if it says out of stock. You won't be able to buy these maybe individually um but you can buy them as the kit. They're all put together. So this is 4 mm on the biconeses. We've got a stainless steel chain which is got little oval links in it and it's 3 mm in size. And then we've got those gorgeous uh stainless steel stud earrings as well which you're going to get um two pairs if you wanted to add those in as an extra. They're just a pound and they come with a little rubber back to your um your earring post. So, I've got I've put some with butterfly backs, but they will come with the rubber backs, and I quite like the rubber backs because um they're less likely to kind of tangle and get caught in your hair, but also you can push them up tighter and I think they just give a snugger fit and you can adjust that to however you want your your earring to, you know, be comfortable in your ear. So, £249 today. So, that is the amethyst colorway for you. I'll show you them all in the different colors. You're getting everything the same in each of your kit.
The only thing that changes is the color of your biconeses. So, these ones here are the green iris. They're really pretty. I love the color of these biconeses. You've got um greeny blue kind of gold flash on there as well. And of course, there's your your details down the bottom if you want to add anything else in. So, this is how your E-ring looks. You've got that gorgeous star at the top. We're just attaching that with a little jump ring. Attaching our chain which will run along the bottom. Don't worry if you can see white behind this. Um there's obviously it's been overlaid onto a different background [clears throat] so that they are clear. It looks like that. And then you've got that little kind of pierced cutout of a heart and a star on the dangling moon as well. So lovely little cres moon charms. would look lovely on a little bracelet as well to be fair, but I thought we don't do earrings very often and it's nice to have a quick make and a really cost effective make. I think these would go really well at craft stores and artisan fairs. You know, they are all handmade even though you are buying those components and you know you're piecing them together. I think they'll be quite popular. You can adjust um the length of the chain as I say and you can even mix your biconeses up which I think I'm going to do today.
I think I'm going to use two different colors of the biconeses because it'll match me top and I'd like to to make a pair to wear. So, this one here is your half silver. So, your biconee, sorry to be scrolling up and down, is exactly that. You've got kind of silvery on one side and kind of like an opaque color.
You can see them a little bit better at the bottom here.
So that's your half silverplated and they're your moon and back earrings in that color way.
We've also got these gorgeous sapphire.
So I think I'm going to use the amethyst and the sapphire today. I think those colors would look lovely together.
Gorgeous sapphire colored um glass biconeses for you. Don't forget your biconeses are 4 mm in size. So they're small and dainty, nice and lightweight, but of course we're using the biconees.
So, the cut of that crystal is going to mean they they're going to twinkle while you're wearing them. That's why I've attached them to the chain because I think you're just adding that extra little bit of movement. And I think when we we look at composing a piece of jewelry together, we're we're looking at maybe, you know, designing something which has got texture, has got color, has got movement, got all those kind of lovely elements to them. And I just love the shapes of the actual ear posts. And I really like the the um the moons as well. So, a little splash of color with your crystals. If you want to know any more details about the stars, you can click in here and you can see it says these are stainless steel earrings in a star shape with a loop on the bottom to thread your beads on or your chain in this case to make your own design. But of course, if you don't want them that dangly, you don't have to add the um chain on at all. You don't even have to add your moon on if you wanted to just add a bead directly onto that. And it says it comes with an ear stopper, which is like a little rubber like silicone stopper at the back. They're your dimensions for that as well. So, we've got this beautiful green iris.
So, if I give it a little twinkle, you'll see we've got kind of olive greens on there, golds, we've got a deep kind of almost greeny blue, I think.
Yeah, we are on Facebook. Hopefully, it's working.
So, you I really love the different tones you get in those ones in different lights. It gives really different colors.
Really pretty. You can see there's our little moon. And it is the same both sides.
So, they're nice to wear if you've got hair up or short hair cuz you're going to see them. They're looking pretty from the back. And then you've got your lovely little star post as well. So, they're the green ones. These are your half silver.
So you've got it coated in a lovely silver color and then on the other half you've got almost kind of like a transparent look.
There you go.
We've also got these really pretty pinky silver colored ones, too.
So again, half has got the silver and then the other's got that lovely pale pinky peach tone to it.
These are absolutely gorgeous. These are your sapphire colored glass by cones. So really deep blue.
And then we've got this amethyst color which is you can see there that kind of petrol finish on it that twinkly.
Really gorgeous. So I'm going to mix these two today. Don't quite know how I'm going to place them, but I'm going to mix them cuz I think they're gorgeous. So there are moon and back earrings. To start I'm going to take my chain. So you're going to get a length of chain in your kit. This is stainless steel and it means the links are soldered. So, pull, pull, pull, pull, pull. They're not opening. It's really strong and sturdy. Now, I'm going to cut two lengths. And you can change this to how you wish. Um, so for one pair of earrings, I'm going to be cutting two lengths on one and two of another length because I would like them to look staggered and drop um sit like this. So, the longest length I've done includes 20 links of chain, which works out to be 1 in in length. And then I've used the shorter one, which is 10 links of chain, which is half an inch. So, I'm going to be doing for [snorts] one earring 1 in and half an inch. And then obviously on the other earring, I'm going to be doing the same. If you want to change that up, you absolutely can. You're going to get the chain in your kit. So you can play about that design. Because these links are soldered, we're not going to be able to just open them up like [clears throat] a jump ring. You're going to need your cutters to cut through it. So what I'm doing is either going to lay it out and go that's an inch there, that's half an inch there, and cut. Or I'm going to count my links to make sure they're exactly perfect. If I'm counting my length, so say for example, I'm doing the half an inch, which is about 10 links. I'm going to cut the 11th one. So, I'm going to go one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10. And then I'm going to cut through the 11th link.
Just make sure you pop your open cut link to the side. And then I've got my half an inch there. Let's just check.
So, it doesn't matter if you do longer or shorter lengths of chain. You just want to make sure they're same for both pair for both of your earrings in the pair. If you would like that symmetry, you don't have to have the symmetry. If you don't want, you could make them a little bit more um asymmetrical.
So, again, I'm going to do another one for my next earring. I want 10 links on that. So, 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10. This is my 11th link.
And I'm just going to cut through.
Making sure that I'm just cutting through that 11th link. Now, I've [snorts] chipped the very end of my cutters. So, you can see I'm missing the tip.
Really disappointed. Um, I didn't do that while I was working. I think they were in my bag and they've chipped against something in my bag. So, you'll find that any cutters will cut through this fairly easily, but make sure that you've got your links the same. So, I should have two pieces with 10 links, and that is half an inch. And then I'm going to have two pieces with 20 links, which is 1 in. So, they're going to go in my pairs like so. This is the quickest make you'll you'll do. So, I just prep my chain first. Once I've done that, I'm going to make turned loops with my beautiful little biconeses and spacer beads. So, I'm going to get two of my um ball pins.
So, there you go. You've got your pin with the little ball on the end, which is going to look nice with the uh spacers. And I'm going to add my spacer on first so it won't fall off. It's just going to go along the bottom. And then I'm going to add two biconeses. So I am going to do a mix of the color. I'm going to go for a sapphire color and the amethyst color.
So these colors will be separate in the kits, but today I want to mix them up.
And then I'm going to put another little spacer on the end. So, I think for my other earring, I'm going to do the same, but I might swap them round. So, I might do the spacer.
And then I'm going to put the amethyst on. You're just going to put on two biconeses. And they're going to be kind of top and tailed with a little spacer. Now, I'm just going to do a tail loop with this, but you can do a wrapped loop if you want to. to do a turned loop. I'm just going to bend nice and close to the top of that last bead.
So, you can see that bead wants to to move up. So, I'm just going to put a horizontal bend. Um, so we're going kind of like a a 90° angle. And then going to come in with my cutters and I'm going to trim leaving about cm. I only want to turn a small loop so I only need a little bit. And I'm bending that pin first because then when I turn and roll my pin into a loop, that loop will be sitting nice and flush on the top. So I need to take my round nose pliers. I'm going to support that bead because, as you can tell, it's wanting to rise up and go over. So I'm just supporting the beads between my thumb and my finger to keep it in place. I'm going to use the smaller end of my round nose pliers, the tapered part which goes to the smallest bit, so further away from the handle, cuz I want a small little loop. So, I'm going to flick it up, reposition my hand, and then little rotations all the way around until we have that loop sitting nice and flush at [clears throat] the top of the bead.
Just make sure we're turning it all the way.
And I'm going to do the same on my other for my other earring. So I just tend to make them at the same time. So I'm going to have on one earring two bic cones and two spaces on one pin.
And you can arrange your beads any way you like. So again going to cut leaving about a cm from the bend to the cutters. Just keeping hold of that extra bit of pin just so it doesn't fire away. Coming in with the round nose pliers. Making sure it's flush so there's no pin sticking out the back. So we're turning the whole thing. Just keeping that bead down underneath the bend. So as I turn it with my pliers, I'm making a nice loop which is centered on the top.
Now I'm going to make another two pins.
So I'm going to take my ball pins out of my pack again. So your your ball pin has got a little ball on the end. Your head pin would have more of a flat tip like a nail tip finish. Now this time I'm going to add on my spacer bead again first, but I'm only going to add one biconee in. So, I'm going to go for I'm going to go for the pinky one, I think.
Should I do opposites?
And then I'm going to have another little spacer bead. Let me just get another spacer bead out of my kit. These are acrylic spacers, so they're nice and lightweight. So on my next pin, I'm adding spacer bead, biconee, and my spacer bead.
Again, you can do a wrapped loop with this if you want to. That means you're going to leave a little bit of space before that bend to wrap that pin round.
But if you are doing that, you want to add the chain in before you wrap it round. Otherwise, you're not going to be able to you're not going to be able to attach the chain cuz remember these links are soldered closed. So again, coming in with my pliers nice and close to that last bead and giving it a little bend, trimming off.
Push that bead down between my thumb and my finger to keep it in place.
small little loop. So towards the end of the pliers, nice and flush and nothing sticking out.
Little flick up to turn. Reposition my pliers and all the way around to create that little loop flush on the top. Now again, you can add whatever bead order you want to do with these.
You could um even add a biconee maybe into the length of chain. you would need to um use a very fine piece of wire um to attach that on if you wanted to do that, but you could arrange your spacer beads or your biconeses in in any way you want to. I've done mine like this so you can follow along. So again, I'm just going to flick up.
So nice and flush between the jaws of the pliers. flick up. I'm repositioning my hand so my knuckles are now facing away from me and little little tiny rotations all the way around to create that loop at the top. So, I'm going to pair Let me just check that loop is nice and straight. I'm going to pair that one with that one. No, that one with that one and that one with that one.
Just because I've mixed the colors up.
You do whatever you want. really really straightforward. Now all I've got to do is attach them together. So I'm going to pop my um the bic cones with the the pin with the two bic cones on that's going to go on the longest length of chain. So that's going to go on the chain which was an inch long. So I'm going to open that up because we've just turned a loop. So I'm just going to flick it up.
take the length of chain and I'm just going to attach it on. Making sure it goes onto the last link and then closing it down and making sure that loop is fully closed and turned in.
If it's not fully turned, then that chain could fall off and we don't want that. If you're going to do a wrap loop, it won't fall off, but you need to make sure you add your chain in as you go.
I'll show you how to do a little wrap loop at the end if you do want to do it that way. So, my longest pin with the two bic cones on is going to go on the longest length of chain. And I'm going to make sure I open and close that properly. And then my shorter length of chain, which is just half an inch, which was 10 links. I'm going to attach my pin with just the one by cone on.
And that is going to go onto the last link of that chain.
And again with the other. So a little flick up just to open. So I'm opening up like a jump ring. Just giving it a little flick.
Just a little flick up. Not much. Just enough to get hold of the chain.
And slide that on. Now we've only got small links on this chain. It's nice and fine and delicate, but it's really, really super strong having those soldered links and that stainless steel.
And then just pressing it back down to close.
And all we need to do now is just assemble our earrings. So, in your kit, you're going to get some 4 mm outer diameter jump rings, which are these lovely little rodeium kind of colored ones. And I'm going to open them up.
by giving it a little turn towards me.
So, I'm going to make sure they're nice and aligned. Now, we need to be really gentle with these. They're only small.
So, we're just going to do really, really gentle. And then what we're going to do is we're going to attach our long piece of chain on first. So, again, just that last link.
So, we're attaching the long chain.
Then we are attaching our small chain.
Then we're going to attach our moon. Now our moon is the same both way rounds um on each side if that makes sense. So there's there's no kind of front or back. But what I'm going to do is I'm going to consider how I place my moon on because I would like them to be mirror image. So, I want my moons to face inwards. So, if this is going to be this earring, it's going to go that way. And then when I make the other one, I'm going to pop it down that way. So, when I've attached my moon on, my moon's going to sit at the front. And then I'm going to take my gorgeous star. And the star, we've got the post on the back and a little loop on the bottom. I'm just going to attach a loop of the star on.
So, I've got all of my connecting points onto my jump ring now. And I'm just going to close that over.
[clears throat] Making sure my jump ring is lovely and fully closed. We want those two pieces of the jump ring to be aligned.
And that is my first earring.
I'm going to do exactly the same for the other one. So, I'm going to take my jump ring, which is 4 mm out of di outer diameter. So, nice and small. Give it a little turn towards me. Now, if we were to open the jump ring outwards, we're going to distort that shape. We're never going to get fully circular again. So, I'm just giving it a little flick to open towards me like so. Good morning, Cindy. She's in Miami, Florida. Um, Camille says, "I would be tempted to dollop a bit of colored nail varnish in the center where the heart and the star is." That's a really lovely idea. Yeah. So, you're kind of filling in that little pierced cut. I like the negative space, but I think Camille, that's it's a genius stroke of that's a stroke of genius.
[laughter] Good morning to everybody who's joining us. If you are, these are our moon and star or moon and back earrings. So now I'm going to take my longer length of chain, which was the 1 in with 20 links, and the pin with two of my biconeses on.
And I'm going to do the same again, attaching the jump ring through the last link of the chain. Then I'm taking the smaller of my lengths of chain which is half an inch and 10 links with the one by cone.
And that's going on. And then this time I'm going to put my moon on. So it's facing this way round.
Taking my star earring stud through the loop and closing it over.
These will be super quick makes. Just make sure you're taking your time to have that jump ring fully fully closed.
Now your earrings are now ready to go and ready to wear. They come with these little rubber backs.
So, all you will need to do is pop it through your earlobe and then attach that little rubber back. I'm not going to do that because I'm going to put them in so you can see how they look. So, these are the moon and star um or moon.
Yeah, moon and back earrings. I've named them. Um let me see if I've missed any questions. Lots of people coming in joining us. Good morning to you. Angela says, "These earrings look lovely." Really good idea. So all you need to do is just pop on take the earring out if you were wearing any. [laughter] Pop the star ear post through the lobe on your ear. They are stainless steel.
You've got a nice like long post. It's not too long. Just enough for you to be able to get that rubber back on. And then there is your earring. So the star is going to sit on your actual earlobe.
The moon's gonna dangle. The moon's got that gorgeous little heart and star cut out in it. And then I've got my twinkly biconeses. So, at this length, this is where they look like they're coming on on me.

Um, and we have uh lots of lovely things to make. I will show you one of the things I'm going to be doing on Wednesday. So, I'm not back with you Monday. Monday is bank holiday here in England. Um, ooh, Hell's Bell says, "I've already ordered the Green Iris kit and the amethyst kit last weekend, and I used the discount code." Um, and she's just read it's already been dispatched. So, that's lovely. So, these are earrings from today. Moon and back. I just think they're gorgeous. I'm going to keep them in all day. Match it. That's why I did the pinks and the amethysts and the blues cuz thought it match me top. I'm going to take you down on the mat. I'm going to show you sneaky peek on what we are doing on Wednesday. So, I'm going to be showing you how to make these pretty wire rings. I'm using a little bit cup chain and they are adjustable. So, you can see you can open them out at the back. So, you can I'll show you how to make them to size. So, you can I'll show you how we measure it and how we work it out. But using the little pieces of cup chain, oh, this is going to go with my outfit today. Is going to give the illusion of creating um kind of a channel satin and a prong satin on those stones. And you can see we've got three in gold and three in silver and lots of gorgeous Oh, look at that one. Gorgeous. Gorgeous like little rhinestones in there. So, this is what I'm going to be making with you on Wednesday. They are straightforward. Don't worry if you are new to wire work. I'm going to be showing you how you can measure your finger. Even though they are adjustable, I'm going to be showing you how to do this tutu weave or whichever weave you want to add into it. It's going to be a really comfortable shank, which is what fits around. This is like your ring band. I'm going to be showing you how to turn those loops. >> [laughter] >> Sheila says adjustable is good for those with arthritic fingers to get over the joints. Yeah, absolutely. But also, you know, if you are making these to gift, it's hard to say to somebody or to look at somebody and go, I know what ring size you are. And if it's a surprise gift, you're going to need to know the measurement of the finger. Um, you can do these and make them to size.
Uh all you need to do is it just opens out a little bit more or they close together a little bit more. Um but nice comfortable fit on your finger. So that's what we're doing on Wednesday.
