The video reports on the ongoing US-Iran conflict, where the US military has conducted self-defense strikes against Iranian missile launchers and boats while diplomatic negotiations continue; despite President Trump stating negotiations are proceeding nicely, there is deep skepticism among some Republicans about the value of any potential deal, and the gap between public statements from both nations reveals the fragility of these talks.

Iran war: US launches strikes as Trump pushes for peace dealAdded:
5:33 now. The US military has carried out new strikes against Iran, even as talks may be moving forward to end the war, >> but still unresolved is what to do about Iran's nuclear program. Doug Lazer joining us live in Washington this morning, getting us all caught up on where developments stand on this Tuesday morning. Good morning, Doug.
>> And good morning. President Trump says negotiations are, in his words, proceeding nicely, but the details are still scarce.
President Trump laying a wreath at the tomb of the unknown soldier at Arlington National Cemetery for Memorial Day.
>> America has always stood as a great and moral cause.
>> His remarks included recognition for 13 American service members who have died during Operation Epic Fury.
>> These incredible men and women gave their lives to ensure that the world's number one state sponsor of terror will never have a nuclear weapon. Oh, and they won't.
And while the US military says it carried out what were termed self-defense strikes against Iranian missile launchers and boats laying mines, the Secretary of State Marco Rubio said a deal may be close.
>> Like anything with something like this and it's going to take a couple days uh to settle on even down to the disagreements over a word uh sentence.
>> But there is deep skepticism even among some Republicans. The chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Senator Roger Wicker, wrote on X that the president is being ill advised to pursue a deal that would not be worth the paper it is written on.
The US and Iran may be far apart on the nuclear issue.
>> The gap between what we're hearing publicly between the two nations shows just how fragile these talks really are.
And for the White House, this may be a difficult balance between pursuing a nuclear deal and reopening the Straight of Hormuz to help stabilize world energy markets. Back to you guys.
>> Yeah, just another day. Doug Warrior, we say, well, we'll see what happens. Thank you for the update.
>> Thank you, Doug. 5:35 now. Protests outside a federal immigration facility in New Jersey are growing louder. People have been demonstrating at this detention center in Newark for several days. They say detainees are being held in poor conditions. More than 300 uh people detained at the facility went on a hunger strike last week in an effort to draw attention to the conditions they say that they are facing. Governor uh Mikey Cheryl and fellow Democratic Senator Andy Kim joined the demonstrators outside the center.
>> This type of facility shows exactly why we should not have private mass detention facilities. They were raising not just concerns about the conditions but about how they are intentionally not being given access to the courts uh that this is a farce of a system. A spokesperson for the facility says detainees are given three meals a day, clean water, clothing, bedding, showers, soap and toiletries. The Department of Homeland Security dismissed New Jerseys Governor Charelle's visit as quote nothing more than a political stunt.
Well, this morning, evacuation orders are lifted for some residents living near a damaged chemical tank in California. The threat of a potential catastrophic explosion was just outside of the city of LA. It has now been eliminated. Authorities say they found a crack in a tank at an aerospace plant.
It had been overheating and it is at risk of exploding and releasing a toxic plume. It's uh now officials are helping to release pressure on that tank and are saying now that the evacuation order is lifted.
>> Letting this thing just fail and blow up is unacceptable to us. Our goal is to find something and not allow that happen, not let it damage our community, not let it damage our environment.
That's unacceptable.
So far though, no timeline has been given for when everybody will be able to get back into their homes in that
