This video exposes the ethical bankruptcy of the exotic pet trade, where biodiversity is commodified at the expense of basic animal welfare. It serves as a sobering reminder that tourist curiosity often fuels systemic cruelty under the guise of commerce.

I Regret Going to Thailand’s Animal MarketsAdded:
Beyond that fence line is Chattak Market here in Bangkok, Thailand. It is Thailand's largest market with around 15,000 stores divided into 27 sections and it attracts around 200,000 visitors every single weekend.
But there's something else inside that market is the world's largest exotic pet market with countless endangered and illegal animals. I just saw some sort of like small leopard. So, in today's video, you and I are going to go and explore that market and see what animals are on sale for whoever wants to buy them. Now, we do have to be a little careful with the camera because there has been problems with people going in taking photos, taking films of these animals. Can I have a look?
>> And that's because of the harsh conditions that these animals are kept in. So, we do have to be a little cautious.
So, let's get started. Brother, is these mia cats?
>> These are mia cats.
Hey. Oh. Hey, you're grabbing at the camera.
Oh, look at that one. He was digging in the corner just trying to get out of the cage, mate.
I'll be honest.
I don't know what half of these animals are, but um mate.
>> Hello. Is that why is that a raccoon? Is that a raccoon, brother?
>> Hey, what is your name, mate? You can see like the cages they brought in. They're just tiny little sweat boxes.
And you can see how hot I am. It's absolutely dripping. It is in the month of April right now and it is scorching.
So, um it's reaching heights of like 38 degrees at the moment. So, you can imagine here with the fans these the they must be baking. Look at these.
Some squirrels.
Oh, mate. And then look at these brother. Is this a python?
Is that python?
>> Wow, brother. Bai.
>> Ah, you know what? Are you cleaning?
Okay, brother.
>> Yeah, look at that.
It's crazy.
>> Hello, little Portuguese. Hello. Hello, man.
[ __ ] [ __ ] me up, man.
Yeah, you got these iguanas, mate.
>> It's wild.
>> It is wild. Just cages, animals all over the shop.
Who's this thing?
>> Hello.
Hey. Hey.
What?
What?
F me. [ __ ] pled me.
No rabies. No. No rabies. Hopefully not.
>> Oh man. Look at these. What is that? Is that an ostrich?
Wa. That's crazy.
And they get out of this section.
This baby mir cats, mate. It just got like grazed by that big eared thing.
Hello.
Hello.
Little baby mir cats.
>> Yeah. So, what I just shown you then is just one is just one of those like market stores. Just one of them in the corner here. Look how many you've got.
You've got them all stretching down around where I've just came from in the market.
There's a guy cleaning the cage down here.
Mate, it has been said that last year there was even a cheetah in one of these markets. A cheetah for sale for people to buy. An actual cheetah as well as some stuff that we're not going to see by just, you know, lurking around the surfaces. There's going to be things, there's going to be animals that are, you know, the most endangered are going to be in the back somewhere as ones we're not going to see. The ones you can see on the forefront, mate, it's wild enough.
>> Parrots, you hear me?
Look at how many lizards are in this cage.
Are they monkeys, mate? They actually look on the brink of keeling over.
What's in there?
Oh man, that is crazy.
>> All right, so check this out. These pet stores are just spread like throughout various sections of this market. Now, right here you've got the JJ Mall shopping center, which is like, you know, it sells food, it sells clothes, it sells any other assortment of items that you want. And then just outside you've got well this Hello.
What is it?
What What name?
>> Bengal.
>> Bengal. Bengal.
Yeah. Hey, hey, hey, hey. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. How are you? No good. So, 2,000. Hello. Hello.
2,900 B. You are. I know.
Bye.
I know I'm smiling. Have a little bit of a laugh, but I'm getting eyed down like severely by the vendors here. Look at this.
Brother, is that raccoon?
>> Raccoon.
>> Raccoon.
>> Is that milk?
>> Milk.
>> Milk.
What is that? Hey.
What is this? A monkey baby monkey.
Oh, mate, that was absolute savage. Did you see that? That little mircat just dropped all the way down. He just flung it back.
This is brutal, mate.
>> Hello.
>> Can I have a look? Is it Labradors? No, no, no. Labrador.
>> And what are these ones?
>> Bai 9,5,000.
>> 6,000 9,000.
>> Okay. Thank you.
>> Hello. Hello.
It's rough, isn't it?
More cats there. More dogs.
And then check this out. Little snakes.
Wow.
orange lizards.
You see uh those tiny little holes for those snakes in that Tupperware box.
There's some parrots.
Hello.
Say my name is Chrissy Boy.
Yeah, like I said, there's just food here. Smoothies, drinks right on the surface, right by this stuff.
Hey, check these turtles out. Just in these boxes here. What the trying to uh trying to get up, which I think is impossible. And then these goats, >> more mia cats, baby turtles. And then this o big boy iguana, I think.
>> Oh.
That is absolutely mental to see in person like how crazy that is. And that is just one tiny little section of this place.
More over here.
Birds, turtles, chickens.
Rabbits.
Look at this.
>> Little ducks.
>> Then you've got a little kid buying a rabbit or something.
I think they're hedgehogs. Let's actually try and go into this store and see if we can actually go in.
>> Can I have a look? Can I have a look?
No.
>> Not allowed to go in there.
Oh, mate. This is rough. Look at this.
That is a pig.
Yeah, I asked if I could go in just because there was a load of cages like wheeling all the way back to that shop, but she said, "Uh, no, Christy boy, you can't, mate.
The smell in here is absolutely huming and the noise is ringing my brain.
Wait, wait.
>> Can I have a look?
>> No. No.
>> Okay.
>> I told you that's three times I've been told for the camera to stop.
Look how many people this attracts. Like 200,000 visitors every weekend. It's crazy.
More hedgehogs. You got rabbits in here.
Let's have a browse down into the the dark alleys here.
Mate, look at the size of this.
I think it's an eel. I'm not sure if it's electric, but it's definitely an eel.
>> Check that fish out. Look at the skull on this guy.
>> Goldfish. Obviously, I can't read tai, otherwise I'll tell you what type of fish these are unless it just says do not film, which it probably does.
Yeah, we are into obviously the fish section of the market, which is indoors away from the beaming sunlight and those animals that we just saw. It seems that this the same fish in here.
250 B. You got a bag of fish.
Look at this. There's just these bags of fish everywhere.
50 B smaller fish.
Not sure what that one is.
All down here.
Mate, just cooking under this Thailand heat.
>> This place is massive. It's spinning me out. It's It's super difficult to navigate. Now I'm back outside. There's winding alleys everywhere.
And here more fishing bags, more alleys.
Hang on.
That they're literally scrambling to get out of this box. Ah, brother. This one's on its back.
Brother, do you flip this one?
No. This one you flip.
>> Okay. You >> You want me to flip >> there? Done, >> brother. Are these turtles or tortoises?
What's the difference?
>> Turtles. Tortoises.
>> I know the big name.
>> Okay. No worries, brother. Yeah. Direct.
in the the sunlight here. Check, mate.
They must be absolutely cooking.
No speak.
>> No speak. Okay.
>> Okay. Do our eggs.
>> Hello. Wake up. If you're not dead.
>> Is it dead?
>> No.
>> No.
>> Ah. Sleep. Okay.
Hello brother.
Wow. What are these monkeys? Oh, sorry about that, mate.
What's his name?
>> Well, they got little necklaces attached to the rope so they can't run away.
Hello.
>> Oh, wow. It's a raccoon again.
Yeah, they definitely didn't like me filming that.
But everywhere you look is just different animals that I've never seen before. It is wild.
Just boxes upon boxes of snakes of all shapes and sizes and colors.
Check it out.
Brother, can I have a look?
>> No. No.
>> Oh, no. Photo. Okay.
Mate, mate, I just saw a lynx or some sort of like small leopard in a box. But there was actually two of them.
And I was just about to film it. He told me to stop filming.
No, no.
dogs.
Look at this dog. Hello.
It's like some sort of husky or something.
Hello. Hello.
We got gold changed on the next.
Right, I think I'm going to call it cuz uh a few people back there certainly weren't happy with me and I'm not going to push it. But uh more cat stuff here.
More dogs make whatever these are.
Hello woman.
>> Yeah, that is uh the exotic pet market here >> in Chhatu Chhat. What is this thing?
>> What is this?
What on earth is that?
>> Friy, mate, I had seen that thing before.
>> All right, I'm getting out of here.
I'm not going to say I hope you enjoyed because of the obvious, but that's our whip round before I really do get told off cuz they're probably starting to foam people around, I imagine. Especially that guy back there with the lynx is whatever whatever that leopard style thing was in that box.
All right, guys. See you.
