White House Declines Comment on Iran Proposal via Pakistan Mediators | NewsX WorldAdded:
For breaking news, the White House has declined to comment on a new Iranian proposal submitted by Pakistani mediators saying it will not disclose private diplomatic conversations. In a statement, White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly has reiterated that President Donald Trump's position remains unchanged stressing that Iran must not be allowed to develop or possess a nuclear weapon. She said negotiations are continuing aimed at safeguarding both short-term US national security interests. The comments come amid ongoing diplomatic efforts involving intermediaries even as tensions remain high over Iran's nuclear program.
Washington has maintained a firm stance that any agreement must prevent nuclear escalation while keeping details of back channel talks confidential.
Now we are moving to another breaking news. The United States has warned a shipping operations against paying any tolls for passage through the Strait of Hormuz saying such payments could expose them to sanctions. Washington has indicated that any companies engaging in such transactions may be considered in violation of restrictions raising fresh concerns for global shipping routes through the critical waterway.
Now we welcome back Mr. Dan Perry. He joins us live from Tel Aviv. Thank you very much Mr. Perry for staying with us.
Of course, these are privileged conversations about uh the uh the proposal by Iran. We can only speculate here, but uh a lot of analysts are thinking that maybe the focus has shifted. What do you think is stated or prioritized in this fresh uh a proposal and do you think the focus is shifted from diminishing the nuclear ambitions and regime change to Strait of Hormuz? Uh what do you think would be uh the strategy moving forward for US as well?
Is it the US will uh resist uh playing Iran's game, which is to have turned Strait of Hormuz into the center of the conflict and to simply return to the status quo antebellum. [clears throat] Uh if Iran were to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, it simply isn't good enough. The Iranian regime cannot have nuclear weapons. They cannot have long-range ballistic missiles that are aggressive.
They can no longer uh uh fund and arm and train and guide uh proxy jihadist militias all around the region undermining the sovereignty of Arab countries.
And realistically, the the trigger for all this was the massacre of thousands and most likely tens of thousands of Iranian protesters at the hands of their own government. A government that is a complete and total criminal operation. It is rare in in geopolitics uh countries intervene to uh um prevent uh evil from being done by governments to their own people. Uh but there's a limit. There's a limit. The there is currently, for example, some notion of disgrace for the Americans for having waited as long as they did um before taking action against the Nazi crimes against the Jews and others in World War II.
Never even bombing the the rail tracks leading to Auschwitz. That wasn't the Americans' business. But there's a point where the world needs to intervene. Uh there even is a concept in international jurisprudence called the the duty to protect.
Um and the Iranian people need protection. So the idea that it just comes down to the Strait of Hormuz and this vulgar issue of the Ayatollahs is is wrong.
Uh and I support also the American position uh in taking action against anyone who pays this ransom. No one should collaborate with the Iranian regime. It's as simple as that. We simply have to outlast them. The West has to outlast them. And I say that obviously as a citizen of the world, as as an analyst of events, I uh am willing to predict that the Western alliance will not be quite so weak.
Cuz that would be craven.
And clearly, it would have downstream consequences for the idea that maritime trade is safe. For the idea that authoritarian regimes can uh uh do uh illegal blackmail and shake downs with impunity. And for the notion that um uh uh justice can prevail in geopolitics as well as in politics in general.
Thank you very much Mr. Perry for joining us today and sharing that insight throughout our news.
Now we move on to Cuba. A Cuban immigrant has passed away while in
