[00:00:01][music] >> Centipede literally means 100 ft, but it it's kind of surprising that we've never actually found a centipede that has 100 [music] ft. And when you look at centipede species, they have 15 pairs of legs, and indeed almost every odd number of segments until we get to the maximum number, which is 191.

[00:00:21]But there are some exceptions. There is a single specimen that's been found in the field that [music] has 48 pairs of legs, which is a an even number. So, 96 legs.

[00:00:31]So, if we had another specimen that had the same kind of genetic mutation that made this 48 segment, we'd have 50 pairs of legs, or 100 legs in total.

[00:00:43]So, while we haven't found the 100-legged centipede yet, it is a possibility that it could be out there.
