The segment effectively simplifies complex atmospheric dynamics into a practical guide for local residents. It values immediate public utility over a deeper, more rigorous exploration of regional climate patterns.

Plenty of heat & humidity, a front arrives soonAdded:
Okay. Cinco de Mayo on a Tuesday. Taco Tuesday, to be more specific. The last time this happened was 2020. Stop it.
The pandemic. Did you look that up? And you know, we couldn't celebrate really back then. Not properly.
>> couldn't. So, you have to properly celebrate today. Um another kind of crazy fact is this is the first time since 2020 uh that we've had this hot of a Cinco de Mayo. 90° is where we'll be at today. Wow. Yes, it's going to be I love all that, Haleigh Ann. Good for you. Look at you.
>> Information overload this morning. I'm loving it, too.
>> Um and then here's kind of a crazy thing to think about. 2020 was 6 years ago. I feel like just yesterday we were talking about all that stuff, and here we are, 6 years later. Time really does fly. Um speaking of time flying, it was just the weekend, and last Saturday, this past Saturday, we reached 78°. Today we're reaching 90°. So, it is going to be very hot this afternoon. The 90s don't stop here. We'll reach 90° tomorrow, and then looking ahead to Thursday, we'll see our temperatures drop nearly 10° into the low 80s, and that's all thanks to our next front that'll move through Wednesday night into Thursday. That will help to pull in that cooler air, along with a little bit of rainfall. Now, if you're going to be traveling tomorrow, keep in mind that front's going to move through Central Texas and East Texas, where they're set up for some severe weather. That severe weather threat is not in the Coastal Bend at all. It really doesn't even look like we're going to see a lot of activity as this front moves through Wednesday night into Thursday, but we could still see a couple of showers pop up, especially by this time Thursday morning, some showers, even a couple of thunderstorms firing up just west of our western brush country counties. Then by 9:00, as that cluster of thunderstorms tries to push into our western counties, it begins to fade out, and then we'll still be tracking some light passing showers here and there throughout the day, uh morning on Thursday, as well as the afternoon on Thursday. Otherwise, high temperatures, because of that cloud cover, plus that front, most of us will be in the 70s.
For now, I have us at 82° on Thursday, but we may have to trend on that downward side into the 70s on Thursday.
So, that's something that we'll be watching very closely. But for today, it's just all about the heat. 90° in Beeville, Corpus 91 in Robstown, 97 this afternoon in Falfurrias. So, we'll tack on yet another 90° day temperature to our count. So far, we are at eight 90° day temperatures for uh 2026 here in Corpus Christi. This time last year, we were still at five, and our average 86.
So, this is well above our average. It is going to be hot. Eventually, we'll see some sun, but we'll start off this morning with mostly cloudy conditions, a mix of sun and clouds by the afternoon, and then a little bit more sunshine during the early evening hours.
Tomorrow, we're back in the 90s. When you factor in the heat and humidity, it'll feel a lot more like the triple digits. Now, tomorrow morning, we'll start off mostly cloudy, a few isolated showers. Most of that activity will begin to lift as we go into the afternoon hours, and our clouds will clear as well throughout the afternoon, but we still can't rule out maybe one or two isolated showers in our forecast for tomorrow. That's why we have a 10% coverage of rainfall. That front arrives on Thursday, increasing our rain chances on Thursday and on Friday to about 20% with high temperatures in the 80s.
Looking ahead to Mother's Day weekend, it gets hot once again with highs in the upper 80s and low 90s.
