BRIN says it is developing nuclear-based technology for health, food, and agriculture, including food irradiation for fruit products bound for export. For years, Indonesia relied on irradiation facilities in other countries, with some products sent overseas before reaching their final markets, adding logistics and production costs. Now, BRIN has developed food irradiation facilities in Jakarta, giving exporters a way to preserve [music] products at home while maintaining nutritional quality and protecting food from microbes and pests.
