Electoral repolls can significantly alter political outcomes when allegations of malpractice are substantiated, as demonstrated by the BJP's decisive victory in the Falta Assembly re-poll in West Bengal, where candidate Debangshu Panda won by a margin of 1,90,21 votes, raising the BJP's assembly strength to 28 MLAs compared to Trinamul Congress's 80 members, and illustrating how electoral integrity concerns can reshape political fortunes in competitive regions.

Falta assembly re-poll: BJP’s Debangshu Panda storms to victoryAjouté :
The Bhartya Jantaa party has registered a massive victory in the Fala assembly repole in West Bengal. BJP candidate Debangu Panda won the seat by a huge margin of 1 lakh 9,021 votes on May 24th.
CPIM candidate Sambhu Nath Kurmi finished second with over 40,000 votes while Congress candidate Abdul Razak Mhola secured just above 10,000 votes.
Trinamul Congress candidate Jiangir Khan who had earlier withdrawn from the contest ended up in fourth place with 7,783 votes. The election commission had ordered a repole after allegations of electoral malpractice during polling held on April 29th. Fresh polling took place on May 21st with an impressive voter turnout of 88%.
The repole followed widespread complaints from local residents who alleged they were prevented from voting during the earlier election under the Trinamul regime. With this victory, the BJP's strength in the West Bengal Assembly has now risen to 28 MLAs while the Trinamul Congress has 80 members.
Reacting to the result, BJP leaders called it a sign of the Thrin's declining political fortunes. BJP leader Amit Malvia described the outcome as the collapse of the diamond harbor model associated with Abhishek Banerjee.
However, Trinamu leader Abhishek Banerjee alleged that more than 1,000 party workers had fled Falta in recent days and questioned the speed of the counting process. He demanded an explanation from the election commission claiming there were glaring inconsistencies compared to the counting process on May 4th. The Fala repool result has now intensified the political battle between the BJP and Trinimul Congress in West Bengal.
