[00:00:14]It is Thursday, May 21st, 2026, and we're going to go over the sun, seismicity, the latest on the galactic current sheet, and the sun is misbehaving a bit when it thinks we're not looking. This is the last 24 hours, and the sun was very quiet. No solar flaring, no eruptive behavior notable for the Earth. It's been about as calm as you could imagine, even in the filaments. The satellite calibration role is the only motion we're seeing.

[00:00:39]Very quiet, and we still have a day or two of that quiet. The sunspot situation is unlikely to develop considerably today. Haven't seen these spots do much and so we are eyeing the ones incoming.

[00:00:52]Biggest far side spots are still lumbering towards visibility. Top seismic event of the day was a 6.6, but luckily out in the middle of the ocean.

Our first article today comes from the same team studying the galactic current sheet that about 5 months ago identified the diagonal local imprint of the galactic field. We're basically looking right down the reversal line, meaning the local galactic environment is magnetically reversing. The main coverage map in their newspaper today shows what every other all sky map shows except this time they also picked up huge readings from the central current sheet. Look at how much there is right there. And when they break it out into the different profile lines they get the positive peaks of the central galactic current sheet and then the negative peaks both on the same frequency band. I know every study ever on the galactic current sheet. I've never seen that before. The top story is making waves on social media already. The sun did something preposterous and the data analysis is telling us just how crazy it was. Most radio bursts from the sun last minutes to hours, a few last days with the record being 5 days. This one lasted 19 days. And that is so preposterous it falls into the same category as the extra dust accumulating in the upper corona and the changing helium profile in the corona as unexpected major behavior from our star.
