When a region faces economic blockade from its federal government, it may develop economic dependencies on neighboring countries for essential goods like fertilizers and fuel, which can simultaneously fuel calls for political independence as the region seeks greater autonomy and control over its economic relationships.

Update from Tigray Eritrea Border | Calls in Tigray for SecessionAdded:
Is Tigray importing fertilizer from Eritrea or through Eritrea?
Secondly, why is that calls for independence in Tigray are getting louder?
And thirdly, AU and IGAD observers are going to hold a press briefing tomorrow, reportedly.
Welcome to the channel. Thank you for watching. Good to be with you.
Two stories. Firstly, uh IGAD, Intergovernmental Authority on Development and African Union, uh sent observers to observe the election in Ethiopia.
Election has been concluded and uh AU uh and IGAD observers are going to present their report, their monitoring report, in coming hours.
The observers mainly visited polling stations in Addis Ababa. Everything was peaceful.
Everything was in accordance with the election code of conduct.
Whether everything was in accordance with the code of conduct or not, but IGAD and AU will put a seal of approval on this election in coming hours.
You will see that Uhuru Kenyatta, former Kenyan president, uh is one of the observers appointed by AU to monitor Ethiopian election.
This is how elections which are controversial, which are not inclusive, which are not transparent, are legalized by African bodies like IGAD and African Union.
And that is why these organizations have been insignificant.
They have not been able to make Africa a better more prosperous more modern, more developed, more democratic continent. Why? Because the people in these organizations uh who are from different countries they want to protect their positions.
They want to continue because they are getting lots of financial benefits, salaries perks and privileges uh which they're getting being members of IGAD and AU.
So, what matters for them is their position.
They don't care about human rights, they don't care about uh democracy, they don't care about uh independence of uh media, independence of judiciary.
They only care about their positions.
Soon you will see IGAD and AU put a uh put a seal of approval on the election in Ethiopia.
Secondly, viewers, uh is Tigray importing fertilizers from Eritrea or through Eritrea?
Well, a few days ago two days ago I did a video. I told you that uh Tigray is buying fuel from Eritrea or through Eritrea.
And I mentioned the name of one of the border crossings which uh is being used for the transport of fuel from Eritrea to Tigray.
Another piece of information for you from Tigray is that it's not just fuel that is entering Tigray from Eritrea.
Fertilizer trucks have also been seen entering Tigray from Eritrea.
Uh obviously Tigray farmers need fertilizers.
Ethiopian federal government is continuing the siege of Tigray.
Movement of even food items being restricted, movement of fuel, movement of fertilizer being restricted.
If farmers don't get fertilizers, then won't be able to grow crops. That could lead to real food crisis in Tigray.
That is why Tigray has decided now to rely on Eritrea. Eritrean ports are being used by Tigray uh for the import of fertilizers and fuel. Question is, is this strategy viable?
Uh well it depends on how much Eritrea is charging.
We're trying to get information about how much fee is being charged by Eritrea to handle Tigray's imports and exports.
Obviously, Eritrea would be charging fees.
Eritrean Port Authority would be charging fees. Secondly, uh I don't think that Tigray has its own transportation vehicles transporting goods from Eritrean ports to Tigray ports.
Uh if Eritrean vehicles are being used, obviously, that uh is also an expense, an added expense for Tigray government.
Uh Is Tigray buying fertilizers directly from other countries or through Eritrea?
Is it buying fuel directly or through Eritrea?
And we could not confirm direct engagement between Tigray and other countries. Tigray is a region of Ethiopia.
Perhaps it won't be easy for Tigray to negotiate rates and prices directly with other countries.
So far what we have learned is that Tigray is operating through Eritrea.
Eritrea is negotiating terms and conditions to buy fertilizer, fuel, uh and that fertilizer, fuel, and other items are then being bought from Tigray.
Uh it's uh it's an opportunity for Eritrea to make money. It means that continued hostilities between Tigray government and federal government of Ethiopia are basically an opportunity for Eritrea to take to to make money.
Just like Djibouti is making money by handling Ethiopian imports and exports, Eritrea is going to make money by handling Tigray's imports and exports.
But this strategy is not viable in the long run. I mean uh Tigray will have to have direct relations with other countries.
Otherwise, it will always have to rely on Eritrea for everything.
Lastly, it was wise that voices for independence, for secession in Tigray are getting louder.
Tigray leaders are openly, publicly saying that Ethiopianism is a disease.
One of the main backers of this idea that that Tigray should be an independent country is a former Metec chief.
Major General Kinfe Dagnew Dagnew. Kinfe Dagnew is a Tigrayan Major General. He worked as head of Metec with European industrial uh mega uh complex and company.
Uh he was accused of some wrongdoings including financial irregularities.
He was arrested by PM Abiy's government.
A trial began.
He remained in prison but then he was released. And after his release, he returned to Tigray. Now he is in Tigray, I think.
Major General Kinfe Dagnew.
Major General Kinfe Dagnew in an interview says that this is time for Tigray to separate, to secede with Ethiopia.
He said that these Ethiopian leaders, they want to continue the siege of Tigray.
What they are doing is an existential threat to the lives of the people of Tigray and to Tigray.
I know this is the time for the people of Tigray, for TPLF to announce independence.
By the way, Kinfe is not the only one.
There are others, too. They are appearing in interviews. They're giving interviews.
They are in social media. They are on Tigray regional media channels, too. And they're saying They're openly saying that secession is the solution of problems. I think they're being watched.
I think that uh discussions about independence are ongoing in Tigray.
Is TPLF is Tigray military going to make an announcement?
Are they serious about these discussions?
Or is it a pressure tactic by Tigray leaders to pressure federal government?
By the way, Kinfe Dagnew led Metec during EPRDF and back then Ethiopianism was not a disease.
And now when he's been removed from this position as in Tigray, Ethiopianism is a disease. If today TPLF is given 30% share on federal level, it would be the most vocal champion of Ethiopianism.
But since they're not part of the federal government, so they say that secession is better for them. But TPLF has not taken any official position so far about secession.
They could take a position, I think, in near future, I believe. Thanks for watching.
