[00:00:08][snorts] >> What's up, guys? GK here with Corbin's Archery. New to the shop and new to me is the new Next Light 33 from Expedition Archery. Expedition's been around for a little bit. They're a new company though to us here at the shop. They've come out with some really cool bows this year, so we figured we'd start carrying a few.

[00:00:28]And today we're going to be reviewing the 33. They also make a 30, but as you probably guessed, that 33 stands for the axle-to-axle length. I will break down all the specs here in a second. I just kind of wanted to highlight some unique things about this bow that Expedition Archery has come out with. Some cool features, some different things that we might not see as often, and kind of talk about all the stuff that they come with.

[00:00:48]Right off the bat, first thing I noticed when I pulled it out of the box is how stinking light it is. Holy crap, this bow is lightweight. And that's going to be because it is made from their Magnite material. That Magnite is going to be 30% lighter than aluminum, but stronger than carbon. So, a lightweight bow has some awesome features as well.

[00:01:08]Picatinny mount for your integrated sight. IMS mount for your rest, and also some screws for your core mounts. For you guys that run the core mount for your rest as well, you can mount that there. Three stabilizer ports where you can put the stabilizers in.

[00:01:23]Traditional front stabilizer port right in front of the string stop. You got a lower stabilizer port down low that comes with this little kind of stubby stabilizer. And then you can also run a back bar off the back here. So, a lot of options as far as that stuff goes. One thing I really, really like to see as soon as I pull it out, these bows come stocked with America's Best Bow Strings.

[00:01:44]So, you're already saving the cost on going and upgrading to custom strings because these have custom strings already on it. So, they kind of did away with the factory strings there and went ahead and threw a set of custom ABBs on here, which is one of the best bowstring companies out there. They make great stuff.

[00:02:00]Coming with a set of ABB's, that's huge.

[00:02:02]That's going to save you some uh headache in the future when you're having to switch from factory to custom strings already. You don't have to on this bow. Already have some customs, you're ready to rock and roll. Let's look at the specs of this bow.

[00:02:13]As mentioned, this is the Next Light 33, 33-in axle-to-axle, 6 and 3/8 in on the brace height, physical weight of 3.75 lb for a 33-in axle-to-axle bow. That is incredibly light, lighter than any carbon that we've seen, lighter than any other aluminum lightweight bow. I'm going to put a scale on that and make sure that it's coming in at right around that, but really, really lightweight.

[00:02:36]>> [snorts] >> Draw weights are going to go from 50, 60, 65, 70, and 80 lb. You can also adjust your let-off option here on the mods. Um it can go from 85% down 10% let-off adjustment, so 85 to 75, things like that. Also has uh modules to change the draw lengths. Draw lengths will range from 24 and 1/2 to 31 in. Each mod has a 1/4-in draw length adjustment, so you're getting a lot of adjustment there on the draw length. All this coming at you bare bow at 1559 or 1599 MSRP, so right around the same kind of flagship bow prices we've been seeing. So, coming in very competitive pricing. I'm ready to throw a rest on this and shoot it.

[00:03:19]But, we need to highlight some other features as well. They have their X Lock, it's kind of a patent pending X Lock tuning technology, which is basically, I'll get a close-up of that, but you're taking these spacers out and putting different spacers in to shim that cam to tune the bow. So, ideally, you don't have to have a bow press.

[00:03:37]You're taking this spacer out, taking this one out, going with a thicker and a thinner if you need to shim that cam left or right. They do come with a set of those as well.

[00:03:46]So, we can tune those bows and shim that cam for you. The only thing I do not like about this system is that these are plastic. Um so I'm not sure about the dura durability standpoint of that, but being able to tune that and shim the cam easily without a press is a good idea.

[00:04:01]Just curious about how these plastic pieces might hold up. Um other than that, it's a really well thought out system. There is timing indicator marks on the cam here. Split yoke design that we've seen a lot of companies go with in the past couple years. Some dampening already built into the bow. Again, comes with that little stubby stabilizer. But, tons of tons of good accessories.

[00:04:23]Speaking of accessories, they have their own X-Lock bow stand. This is going to be similar to some other legs and stands that other companies makes. However, this one threads up underneath and you can run a tripod bow stand with this guy on as well.

[00:04:37]They also have their own X-Lock stabilizer. It's an 8-in stab with a built-in quick disconnect that comes with the stabilizer. So, you can take that out, color match, do whatever to match your bow. They also have the X-Lock one-piece quiver that can mount more integrated up here through this hole, get it close to the bow, or you can mount it on the outside of the bow as well. Whatever feels good. So, there's a lot of adjustment. There's a lot of play in this um as far as accessories go.

[00:05:05]Good price point. It's kind of staying competitive with all the other ones.

[00:05:09]Tons of good technology, but the thing that catches my eye the most, like I said, was how lightweight this bow is.

[00:05:14]Let's get a scale on it, throw a rest on it, get a speed. We're going to shoot it, see what it uh shoots as far as speed-wise. I did not mention that it IBOs at 330.

[00:05:25]Going to be slower than most bows that we've seen, but we'll still shoot at the Garmin, see exactly what speed we're getting. That way we compare it to our other bow reviews. 330 is definitely a lot slower than what we've seen from other other brands. You know, most bows now are 338 plus. A lot of them are in the 340s. So, that's something to think about as well. But, that 33 is going to be a really stable platform, 6 and 3/8 in on the brace height. It's good for giving bow as well. Tons of cool features, custom ABB strings on it.

[00:05:52]There's a lot of good things about this bow, especially how lightweight it is.

[00:05:55]Let's uh throw a rest on it, go shoot it, and see what speed we're getting.

[00:06:00]All right. So, I have the bow, nothing on it except the stabilizer. I don't have the rest on it yet. But, 3.75 lb is what we're looking for for [snorts] a 33" axle-to-axle bow.

[00:06:11]That is crazy light.

[00:06:15]3.8 lb there.

[00:06:19]I don't know if we got that on the camera. 3.8 lb. That is ridiculously light. That's even with this little I don't know what they're calling it, little short stubby stabilizer. Take that off, it probably drops it, you know, another ounce or two. So, [snorts] really, really lightweight.

[00:06:35]That Magnite technology might be the real deal. Throw a rest on it, let's shoot it. We're going to test it with a 450 grain arrow, 70 lb, 28.5" draw, just like we do all of our other tests, and see what we got. Let me throw a rest on, we'll head back to the range.

[00:06:49]All right, got the Next Light 33. Let's draw it back, see what we're pulling, and then shoot it a few times.

[00:07:27]Here we go. 70 lb, 28.5" draw, 450 grain arrow, same setup we test all of our stuff with because it's a realistic hunting setup.

[00:07:36]Let's get a few speeds, and give an overall opinion and feel of the bow.

[00:07:42]I cannot get over how light it is though. That is insane.

[00:07:48]Draws pretty darn nice.

[00:07:58]271.7 Draw cycle is really good.

[00:08:03]Really smooth. I felt some vibration.

[00:08:07]Pretty quiet, however.

[00:08:09]Let me try to pinpoint this draw cycle a little bit more.

[00:08:15]Yeah, if anything it stacks up just at the front, but then it breaks over.

[00:08:18]The back wall is insane.

[00:08:21]Very stable bow for being this light.

[00:08:31]268. Yeah, there's Yeah, there's Honestly speaking, there's some vibration. Um it dissipates really, really fast.

[00:08:40]It's just a And then it just stops.

[00:08:43]Um very, very lightweight bow, so more weight you add on to it, that should dissipate a lot of that.

[00:08:55]That draw cycle is really good. I really like their back wall.

[00:09:03]271 again. Call it 271 average.

[00:09:06]Um A little bit of vibration, it dissipates very, very quickly, however. I mean, it's just a Soon as you shoot, you feel a little bit of that hand shock, a little buzz, and then it's gone really, really quick. But yes, there are some There is some vibration there.

[00:09:19]The draw cycle itself, it might stack up the first couple inches, and then it breaks over and you hit a really, really good back wall. It's not going anywhere.

[00:09:26]It's a bow you can hold for a really, really long time.

[00:09:29]I do like the grip. It's It's kind of a narrow, but more curved grip here.

[00:09:35]That I don't know, for me, I can just get my hand up in there and it feels very very comfortable to hold. For being as lightweight as it is, stupid stable.

[00:09:43]Um, and that's with nothing on it.

[00:09:45]Load it all out. I'd like to really see what it can do. Um, speed-wise, slower than what we've been seeing. Um, I want to say the Darton was the the slowest flagship that we tested all year at around 278. So, this one's going to be on the slower end, but a lightweight stable bow. If you're a guy that's looking for a stable platform that is really lightweight, it's going to be pretty forgiving to shoot, then this is a great option. They're doing a lot of stuff right. They have a tuning technology. Again, those pieces I they feel like plastic. I would like to see a little bit sturdier material, but the bow itself has some really cool technology. And that Magnite material, that might be something that we see in the future. It is insanely light.

[00:10:29]Really really good stable 33-in axle-to-axle bow. So, you want to come see them? Come shoot them at the Lubbock shop. I have the 33 here. Come test them all out. We got hunts coming up. Draw results are coming out. They are on the right track. They are doing some right things here. So, Expedition Archery, you'll be hearing a lot of them from the future as well.
