Trump-Nawrocki Phone Call: Will Poland Take American Troops Leaving Germany?Added:
Last week, the United States achieved the release of Anjay Pachchobut, a Bellar Russian dissident and activist on behalf of Bellarus's Polish minority who had been a political prisoner in Bellarus for 5 years. Pchob is currently free in Poland. Not long after Polish President Carl Novarki and US President Donald Trump spoke on the telephone, >> the call was not a matter of courtesy.
It was part of a tightening alliance between Poland and America being pursued by Presidents Trump and Navroski. The topic of Anjay Pchabat's release was discussed among other matters.
The conversation between President Carl Navrosky and President Donald Trump concerned bilateral relations between Poland and the United States. President Donald Trump stated that he helped free our hero Andrew Pachabot at the direct request of President Navroszki and that he did so for Poland and the Polish people because he conveyed that he holds us in high regard as a nation. This undoubtedly strengthens our relations.
But yesterday's telephone call between Presidents Carol Navrosk and Donald Trump was not only about expressing gratitude for actions already taken, but also about the future, including the key issue that unites both countries, defense.
One of the key topics of this conversation was the issue of security and military cooperation between Poland and the United States. The president has always sought to persuade our key ally to strengthen and maintain the presence of US troops on Polish soil. And he received assurances from President Trump that despite the reduction of US troops in Europe, this issue will not affect Poland, especially since in the event of the announced troop reduction in Europe, close cooperation with the United States may be particularly important for Poland. The point is to ensure that as little American support as possible leaves the old continent. This refers not only to soldiers but also to military equipment stationed in Europe.
>> We also need to be able to seize opportunities and this is an opportunity. And it's not that we're happy that troops are being withdrawn from our allies for that matter.
However, if they were to come to us, if that equipment were to come to us, that would be an excellent thing. And I'm convinced that the president, as he has been doing for many months, will also act in this regard. Of course, the final decision rest with the United States.
For now, Donald Trump has spoken about the possibility of withdrawing troops from Spain or Italy, but also of removing over 5,000 American troops from Germany. Some argue those soldiers could be moved from Germany to Poland.
>> Unfortunately, Prime Minister Donald Tusk has been undermining this effort for some time now. He believes that Germany should play the key role in NATO's eastern flank. today. In turn, Donald Tusk said Poland would not pursue a policy of poaching soldiers.
>> I don't think that we should be trying to poach these soldiers. I will not allow Poland to be used in any way to undermine solidarity at the European level. The soldiers are expected to leave Germany one way or another.
Transferring them to Poland could be invaluable in terms of the security not only of Poland, but of NATO's entire eastern flank.
These words from Donald Tus clearly show that for him the German option is Poland's future and that he will do nothing that conflicts with German national interests. That is why the Polish government is doing absolutely nothing to improve transatlantic relations or strengthen Poland's position in Europe. And this isn't the first time Prime Minister Donald Tusk has taken a swipe at relations with the United States.
The very same people who are stoking anti-American sentiment, who want to kick America out of Europe, who are unable to stand up to Putin's Russia because they lack the strength to do so, are simultaneously saying that the Americans are unreliable, untrustworthy, and will abandon Europe and NATO. Donald Tusk, the same man who in the Financial Times outwardly expressed doubt in the alliance with the United States. Two days later, he was thanking the Americans for securing Pchob's release from a Bellarusian prison. The German chancellor who is personally interested in this issue shows much greater restraint regarding the withdrawal of American troops from Germany than the Polish prime minister. He is toning down the moon by emphasizing the importance of the alliance between the United States and his country regardless of the withdrawal of thousands of troops from across the Atlantic.
>> I am convinced that the Americans are important partners for us, the most important ones in the North Atlantic alliance and that we have a common interest in Europe and America cooperating to end this conflict. and then for example to end the war in Ukraine so as to provide Ukraine with joint security guarantees. We have already achieved a great deal together on this issue. The reason for the US president's actions is said to be a difference of opinion between Germany and the United States regarding the war in Iran. Today NATO Secretary General Mark Rutter says that Europe has understood the signal sent to it by the United States. There has been some disappointment on the US side when it comes to European reaction to what is happening now in in the Middle East and the campaign of Israel and the US against Iran. Um but I would also argue that what I'm hearing from all my contacts with European leaders is that European leaders have gotten the message. They heard the message from the US loud and clear. And we have seen all these countries now participating with their bilateral agreements making sure that when it comes to basin requests and all the logistical support.
>> German Chancellor Friedrich Merz emphasized that troop reduction had been discussed with Washington earlier and is not related to any conflict with the United States president.
Today, a new cohort of Polish high school seniors have begun writing the Matura exam. The Matura is a high school graduation exam necessary to pursue higher education, split up into a series of tests on different subjects. Today, students took the basic level written exam on Polish. This year, 345,000 students will take the exams.
When the clock struck 100 p.m., the time to complete the two basic level Polish language exam papers was up. The students had four hours to do so.
There were two essay topics to choose from, both requiring references to the Polish literary cannon.
This year, a record number of high school seniors, that is students from high schools, technical schools, and second level vocational schools, are taking the final exams. There are 345,000 high school seniors, and this is due to the accumulation of graduating classes. This stems from the education reform during the first civic platform in Polish People's Party's government, which introduced compulsory schooling for six-year-olds starting in 2014. In 2016, under the Law and Justice Party's government, compulsory schooling was reverted to starting only at age seven.
During the exam at one of the schools, parts of the test papers were allegedly posted on social media. The Central Examination Board will investigate this.
This is exam cheating. Until 9:00 a.m., that is until the exam begins. The material is confidential and it remains so. After 9:00 a.m., someone brought a device capable of connecting to the internet into the exam room. If the principal catches this, they will certainly invalidate that person's exam.
To pass the basic level Matura exam, a student must score at least 30% of the total points. The Polish language exam consists of a written and an oral section. The same applies to foreign language exams. Students must also take one advanced level exam, though there is no passing threshold for this one.
Tomorrow is the basic level math exam.
The written exams will run through May 21st. The oral exams will run through May 30th. Students will have to wait until July 8th for their results.

The driver of a Volkswagen Taigo drove at high speed onto the pedestrian walkway. Two people were killed and at least eight were injured, including two seriously.
The perpetrator was apprehended. 10 ambulances and a rescue helicopter arrived at the scene. It is not yet known whether this was a deliberate act or an unfortunate accident. The police are investigating the matter.
The United States Navy has gone on high alert in the immediate vicinity of the Straight of Hormuz. It's a humanitarian mission according to Washington, but with a very stern warning in the background.
For the good of Iran, the Middle East, and the United States, we have told these countries that we will guide their ships safely out of these restricted waterways so that they can freely andyly get on with their business.
Thran reacted immediately. Iranian state media announced that the Navy had repelled American destroyers.
The Navy announced that it had prevented American Zionist enemy destroyers from entering the Strait of Hummus, thankive and swift warning from the naval forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The American response was immediate and unequivocal. No ship was hit. The operation continues.
Claim: Iranian state media claimed that Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps hit a US warship with two missiles. truth. No US Navy ships have been struck. US forces are supporting Project Freedom and enforcing the naval blockade on Iranian ports.
Iran, however, has no intention of backing down. The commander of Central Command issued a warning to anyone who might support the US operation.
Meanwhile, the operation is moving forward at sea. The first two merchant ships under US escort have safely passed through the state.
US Navy guided missile destroyers are currently operating in the Arabian Gulf after transiting the straight of Hormuz in support of Project Freedom. American forces are actively assisting efforts to restore transit for commercial shipping.
As a first step, two US flagged merchant vessels have successfully transited through the straight of Hormuse and are safely headed on their journey. What does all this mean for Europe? The main concern is oil. Prices skyrocketed following the first reports of a possible direct confrontation. Every subsequent incident in the strait is a direct blow to European energy, heating, and transportation costs. The US Treasury Secretary, however, looks to the future with optimism.
>> A lot of optimism that oil prices on the other side of this conflict are going to be much lower than they were going in or at the beginning of the year or at any point the in 2020 2025.
What could effectively thwart the Treasury Secretary's plans is Tehran's unpredictable stance toward Operation Freedom. The two ships are now safe, but the straight remains a flash point, and the coming hours will show whether Iran will allow the operation to continue or opt for direct confrontation.
