Political leaders may engage in 'gaslighting'—a form of psychological manipulation using lies and half-truths—to delegitimize legitimate national pride by labeling patriotism as far-right extremism, while simultaneously implementing policies like digital ID that require citizens to obtain licenses for rights they already possess by birth, thereby undermining the very national identity they claim to protect.

That Awful Labour Party - The Vexed VicarAdded:
Good morning, Reverend Chris Wickland here with another vexed vicar. I hope you're all doing well out there. It's beautiful today in this part of England.
As you can see behind me, look, I've got some like little lambs and sheep and stuff in the fields and I'm now heading towards the beach. It's really lovely around this area. Very blessed to live here. I know the the uh the videos I do, I'm always in the middle of nowhere, but I don't actually live in the middle of nowhere. I live in quite an upbuilt area, but there's lots of country around it, which is a blessing. So, why am I vexed today? Um, well, as you know or may not know, this weekend I was at the Unite the Kingdom rally which went really, really well. I really enjoyed it. It was fun to do. It was fun to be there. was a great atmosphere, great speakers and again we saw those three strands which I often talk about where we saw Christianity and then we saw the political side and then we saw the cultural narrators talking about you know about redeeming and saving what's left of British identity and it was a really good weekend and I think the police were quite bored actually there was no no real riots no real trouble but again we saw our prime prime minister gaslighting the whole public that uh everybody pretty much attending that riot was a far right bigot misogynistic Nazi bug. And for a prime minister to go on TV to say things like that is is just unbelievable. For having a slight difference of political opinion is unbelievable. and the fact that they stopped I believe nine people coming into this country. Now I know of who these people are and they're not troublemakers. Some of them were politicians um and some of them were you know cultural narratives they narrators sorry they speak into the into the culture of where they come from and warning about the dangers of Islam. And that pretty much was reason why most of these people were banned because they are people that stand up for borders, nationhood, Christianity, and are pretty suspicious of um militant Islam that seems to be growing throughout Europe. That's all they came to speak in. But our prime minister who often says, "Oh yes, I'm very proud of uh our free speech and may it long continue is actually guilty of blocking free speech in this nation." It was unbelievable. Anyway, on the grounds it was a really good day. But again, we had facial recognition technology all over the place, but it was only on us.
It was only on those right-wing bigots, but it wasn't on the left. you know, the ones that were chanting for um Tommy Robinson to be hung uh to be shot through the neck, uh globalized, the intera basically a hate march. And we were ones that were accused of the hate march. I've never been in a in a time, it seems like something out of a really surreal dream where we're waking up into this world where the normal British person, whether they're white, black, brown, yellow, are being gaslit into believing or being told that if you are patriotic or nationalistic that somehow you're this far right, I like the way they say far. They don't say far right.
They say far right. You're a farright misogynistic Nazi bigot. you're trouble for this nation and you're the reason with all that's wrong with this nation.
And we heard this in Wes Streeting speech where he was talking about um Nigel Farage and reform. Now just I have to say as a uh a member of the Confessing Anglican Church, I'm not actually allowed to endorse any particular party.
Um but although I am allowed to vote for whoever I like, but I'm not allowed to endorse any one particular party. So I just need to caveat what about with what I'm about to say.
So we have Wes Street coming out saying that um Nigel Farage and Reform are basically nationalists and they pose an existential threat to Britain's way of life. Uh really I have to think about that when people say things. I think is that true? Is nationalism really an existential threat to Britain's way of life? So, you know, I like to study medieval Christianity and how Christianity has shaped Britain in the medieval period. It's just something that fascinates me. Now, the watermark or benchmark of Christianity influencing and changing this nation is around about 1,400 years ago. I appreciate Christianity came a lot sooner than that, but 1400 years. So, we've been a Christian nation and doing quite well. Thank you very much. As a nation, we've had no existential threat through being a nation in 1,400 years. And therefore, why would we have an existential threat now? And this is very dangerous. this rhetoric that's uh coming from our politicians which is causing deep division in our nation and unnecessarily so because it's an outright lie to say that reform and there are some kind of nationalistic party that's going to send us into the dark ages is just simply not true. What would send us into the dark ages? Hm. I don't know, maybe complete open border policies where we just allow anybody in to our nation.
Well, these are things that are coming upon our shores and these are things that we really need to take be mindful of. Other things that I hear, we heard this in the king's speech as well like that they want to and bear in mind this is coming from Labour. We want fairness of all and we want digital ID. Now, you may or may not be aware of this about digital ID, but what it does is it gives you a license to live the life that you currently already live and have the rights to because you were born here.
All right? And so what it means by equity and fairness to all is it means that now you have to have a license to uh be in this nation. Um, and that includes uh illegal migrants, uh, legal migrants, and natural-born citizens. You all have to have a license. Now, that's fair, isn't it? That's not fair. Why should someone who's never contributed to this society come in on a boat and just have full access to everything?
People would say, well, from a progressive point of view, that's fair.
But it's not being fair on the citizens.
What about, you know, our ex-military that are on the streets that are struggling? no one seems to care about them where we're putting up lots of houses and homes and building homes for migrant communities. This is not right.
This is not godly. This is not righteous and this is most definitely not fair.
Now another thing that Wes Streeting was talking about which again is very dangerous. He was trying to say in his speech that patriotism is good but nationalism is bad. Now let me tell give you a hot tip. If a liberal says to you or a progressive liberal says to you something is bad, nine out of 10 times it's actually good. If they say something to you that is they say, "Oh, this is good." Nine out of 10 times it's bad. It's like in the Bible it talks about evil people calling good evil and evil good. Okay, it's from the book of Isaiah. And we're seeing this right now.
So again, you're being gaslit. Oh, it's good to be patriotic but not nationalistic. Okay, so what does it mean to be a patriot?
Um the definition of being a patriot is being proud of your what? Your nation and proud of your history and your culture and um and all the stuff that comes from you as a nation whether it's sport, music, arts, culture, history, so on and so forth. So to be patriotic means that you love your nation, which is to be nationalistic. Now we're being told and sold this lie that it's wrong.
It's so wrong to be a nationalist. Now, I don't know where people are getting their definitions from, but when I talk about myself being a Christian or I get often labeled as a Christian nationalist, I'm a Christian that's passionate for his nation. And that's what I argue for. There's nothing wrong with that. At what point in history did it suddenly become wrong to wave a British flag and now you're considered a far-right thug because you don't agree with globalization? You don't agree with LGBTQ being in on our schools and in all our politics. And you don't agree with mass illegal migration with no end to it ever in sight. And that if you if you speak against these things, you're some kind of misogynistic Nazi right-winged fascist bigot.
There's nothing wrong with being proud of your country. Nothing wrong. If you're patriotic, then you love your nation, which is basically nationalism.
Now, some would argue that's not true, but actually we do have to put our own interests first as a country because if you don't as a country, you simply will not survive. So, when we're streetings going on about how that uh reform poses an existential threat to Britain and our way of life, it's just one humongous gas lit lie that unfortunately people buy into and it just isn't true.
You know, we're talked about we're told about digital ID, for example, that this was in the king's speech. This is a new system of fairness to all. Now, when I hear a liberal say fairness to all, I know that that means exactly the opposite. What it means is is well, first of all, let's wind it back. What does digital ID do? So, it gives you and I a license to live in a country which you're already born into. So it gives you the rights and a license to live the life that you and I want to live, but you already have that by being born here. So I'm always suspicious when a progressive liberals say, "But we want fairness to all under digital ID." So what does that look like? Probably what it means, I don't know this for sure, but what uh what it likely means is that yes, if you're a natural-born citizen here, you have to have a license now to live here. If you're a migrant, you can now be equal to those that are born here. If you're an illegal migrant through certain systems, you too can now have the same fairness as someone who's been born here. That is not fair. It's not fair on the system. It's not fair on our welfare system. It's not fair on our economy. And now getting on to the issue of the economy. We're streeting again calling out the Conservatives and the Liz Trust budget and how it it nearly brought our country to the brink. That is a complete lie. Why? Because Labor and all their debacle that they're doing at the moment has driven the bond markets way beyond what happened under Liz Truss and they know it. But the the average punter on the street doesn't and so Labor are gaslighting you and Labor are lying to you. This is the government. Now, I'll warn you now, Labor, okay, are just the thin edge of the wedge. Can you imagine what the Green Party would be like? Man, that'd be like having Mussolini on speed on our streets. And that would not be good for us as a nation. So, what do we want for Britain? Do we want democracy or do we want dictatorship?
because we're already seeing the beginnings of that with with our prime minister coming out on TV and basically saying well trying to basically put fear into people that if you're a flag waver and you love your nation um then somehow you're some farright bigot.
That's dictatorship.
That's being gaslit. gas lit. The term is uh I believe it's a it's a form of uh mental warfare, psychological warfare to make you think that when you're being normal that somehow you're not normal.
That's what gaslighting is about. It's a tactic and it's uh it's a horrible tactic and it's based on lies and subtifuge and halftruths and you got to watch it because this is what's coming for Britain.
Also, you have to ask yourself, what do you want for Britain? Now, I know a lot of atheists watch this channel and that some some of them comment and they say, you know, I get what you're saying.
Without Christianity, I can't enjoy the life that I enjoy and I understand that that Christianity has shaped this nation. So, so the question you want to ask yourself for the future of Britain and it really is this stark. Now, I've got to a lot of trouble for saying this, um, but it's true. And the there's this the situation and the climate has caused me just to be really quite bold in what I say now because you kind of have to be. You just got to say it cuz if you don't say it, well, we're going to walk ourselves into a whole world of trouble.
And that is Christianity is the key faith that's built this nation. But we have a government and we have a political class both in the education system um and in our political system that seem determined to undo Judeo-Christian foundations and want to replace it with uh what I could call an Islamopfascist communism where it's communism which is through progressive liberalism but also at the heart of it the main religion will not be Christianity or or or Judaism, but it will be none other than Islam. Now, baby, people would scri cry me saying, "Oh, scream at me say, "Chris, that's just not true. That's just not true.
You're being you're being obtuse. You're being extreme." But unfortunately, more and more I see it all the time. I see a two-tier justice when it comes to Christians. Christians being arrested, the fact that there are exclusion zones where Christians in Britain where Christians are not allowed to pray even in their heads. This is a real thing.
Um, but if you were a Muslim, you can pray wherever you like on the streets, in your in your in your mosque, wherever you want to go. But Christians are slowly being clamped down on. And I know there's people that watch the channel on uh more progressive liberal go that's just not true. That's just not true. I'm don't with respect. I deal with people who are lawyers that have to deal with these very cases and it is real and it is true and it is something that is of great concern uh for us and our nation.
So you have to ask yourself what do you want for Britain? Do you want Christianity or an Islamic com or an Islam communist state?
Now these statements I say all sound extreme but remember this has all happened before in Iran in 1979. A very progressive government teamed up with um the um sort of the the radical arm of Islam I guess. Well not really a moderate form of Islam at least that's how what they were sold. But then when enough Muslims came to power then it basically they wiped out the liberal government and now they have been the thorn in the in the side of the world ever since 1979. Everyone wants to blame Israel. Maybe you should take a closer look at Iran because they're the ones that are state funding all the terrorism that's going on around here. So there's a lot of things to consider. So, I'm just going to pray for us now if I may and just pray that God will help us as a nation. Give us brave men and women that will stand up and speak out in every realm of the media, culture, arts, politics, um, every aspect, education.
So, dear Lord, dear Lord, we Jesus, we pray for our nation. And Lord, we can see this nation slipping quickly into a place that we never thought we'd ever see in this green and pleasant land. And Father, I pray in the name of Jesus that you turn this nation back from the brink of its own economic, political, social demise and bring her back, Lord God, to the bedrock of this nation, which is you, which is Jesus Christ. and that what you did for us on the cross, how you died and paid the price for our sins. For God so loved the world that he gave his only son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life. We thank you Lord that what you've done for this nation and how you shaped this nation over 1,400 years.
And we thank you for it in Jesus name.
Amen. So one last thing I just want to mention before I quickly go is that as well as being a a reverend um I also an author. Uh, I often get called a grifter, but I'm not a grifter. I'm a garafter. I work hard for my church, and I work hard doing lots of other things as well. And so, I've just recently written two, uh, books. So, I've got this one here, which is in reverse, but this is the mystery of the Eucharist. I don't care if you're Catholic, Protestant, Hebrew roots, um, or Orthodox, this book will blow your mind.
Not because I wrote it, but because of the all the all the history and everything that I pull in and all the theology that's from Genesis through to Revelation. It's mind-blowing. It means that when you take communion, you'll never see it in the same light again.
And also, as we are living in dark days, I've also written this book, which is a commentary to the whole of the book of Revelation. And uh these books are available on Amazon if you just do a search under my name, Christopher Wickland Books. Um they'll all come up and you can also order these books through any good bookstore. Anyway, that's all I have to say for today. God bless you all and until next time.
Bye-bye. See you soon.
