[00:02:12]>> Hello. Good morning. Happy Sunday. Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there.

[00:02:18]I mentioned this yesterday. Mother Nature, well, she's a mom. And the weather is going to be great. I know it's a tough one to convince you of this morning. We've had some fog. We didn't have a dense fog advisory until 6:00 and and it didn't really become an issue until 6:00. So, as soon as it becomes an issue, it's going to be a non-issue because it's already improving across much of the area right now. Um I'll show you all the cameras that we have. There are some areas where the fog is more dense. There are some areas where the fog has already dissipated and we're already getting into sunshine. And if you still have fog right now, you will have sun soon. And eventually get into more sun. Certainly more sun than we had yesterday. We knew yesterday it was going to be a battle to get into some sun. The clouds were going to be really tough to budge. And um it certainly played out that way. Uh the sunshine was more like a limited sunshine. Today, it's like full-blown sun once the fog burns off. Reduced visibility less than a quarter mile.

[00:03:16]We've had that this morning. Uh the dense fog advisory goes until 9:00 a.m., but like I said, there are some areas across the Tennessee Valley that have already had amazing improvements. And a lot of our cameras, when I show these in the morning, too, it's a bit deceiving because this camera in Huntsville is elevated. It's our Rocket City camera, right? So, you're seeing as the fog lifts, obviously a camera that's high up in the sky is going to see the fog more.

[00:03:42]If I were to take that camera and drop it down a little bit and bring it down more to the ground, you would see that you'd be able to see better. But still some fog in Huntsville nonetheless. But Guntersville, you think a lot of times you go down to City Harbor and it's very foggy and dreary, but we've already started to get a little sunshine in Guntersville.

[00:04:01]Um there is still some fog, too, but you can see at times it gets a little brighter if I were to leave this on this camera for a while, you can actually see some rays of sunshine, and that's a big improvement. The Shoals, I can see just about everything. We're good to go there. So, in the Shoals it was like really cool this morning. I posted a picture on my Facebook page. I made it my cover photo. I got rid of the little geese and duckling uh geese things or whatever they call those little baby ones.

[00:04:27]And I put this sunrise picture coming up in the Shoals, and it's awesome because the fog is there, and then the sun is up here coming up and over it, and it looks like something from like if you were like on a plane, like Nick Bellanger thought it was really cool. So, I posted that, and then the fog got really bad in the Shoals, and then we're right back to here now. So, it's gotten better.

[00:04:47]And uh it'll continue to improve no matter where you are in Huntsville.

[00:04:51]At times I couldn't see the Parkway this morning. Now, easy easy.

[00:04:55]Um off in the distance you can see some fog, but it's lifting right before your very eyes. Um eventually the sun will pop here shortly. Indicator, believe it or not, that's actually a better look. I couldn't see those little trees about 10 minutes ago.

[00:05:07]Um I can almost see the bridge already.

[00:05:09]That's an improvement. Temperature 63°, and in Madison, this is awesome. I mean, when I started weather actually when I walked in here, before I was talking to Tatiana, um I I could see the highway, but not like this. It's already gotten like to the point where you can see pretty much everything. So, um this impact of fog was for like about an hour or two this morning.

[00:05:30]Um and therefore it's going to get better. And Mother's Day forecast looks pretty good. Uh East Limestone, even that is better, believe it or not. Um I have it pretty zoomed out now, and you get to see more of the fog, but see the cars moving there? Yep, couldn't see those about 5 minutes ago. So, we're off and running, everybody. That little red, yellow, orange indicator there color-wise of like one or maybe less than a mile visibility.

[00:05:54]It covered almost the whole Tennessee Valley this morning at one point. Now it's >> [snorts] >> starting to shrink back. And we'll continue to see it shrink in the next 20 minutes. It's going to be out of here.

[00:06:06]Mother's Day forecast.

[00:06:08]So once the fog burns off, sun pops, happy Mother's Day again to all the moms out there. You make everybody's day bright, so it's time to make your day bright. And we'll get there eventually.

[00:06:18]We got a 40% icon there and you're like, why is that there? Um it's for tonight. So low 80s by day, sunny, beautiful in the afternoon. Just got to get there. And then tonight there's a chance for some showers, but I almost wanted to drop that 40% back a little bit. I should have did that this morning because the overall coverage of rain is extremely minimal. Um it looks like it would be after midnight into Monday morning if you have a rumble of thunder. Um probably the exception rather than the rule. And not as much rain as we could have or need would be a better way to say that because we did so well the past 2 weeks. We've had some soaking rain, which is great.

[00:07:01]But we are so behind the eight ball with how much rain that we've had since really January.

[00:07:09]Um we could use more. And unfortunately the rain that we have in the forecast tonight and tomorrow morning is minimal.

[00:07:18]And if you don't have any rain in the next 24 hours, you're going to have to wait a very long time before you get rain again because the 10-day forecast is dry, dry, dry. After the rain tonight, tomorrow morning, whatever does fall, again, doesn't look all that impressive.

[00:07:34]Uh Monday afternoon will be dry and just much cooler. That's the big difference between Sunday and Monday. You go from 80s to 70s and if we keep the cloud cover Monday afternoon, a northerly breeze will pick up gusting 20-25.

[00:07:50]And if you're in a cloudy area of the Tennessee Valley and you get that gusty wind with a temperature of like 73, it go and feel very cool to you for sure. But it gets better quick.

[00:08:02]Tuesday through Friday, sunny just about the entire time, at least when it's daylight outside. It'll be dark when it's dark. And the temperatures around 80° all four days.

[00:08:13]Absolutely splendid weather for the week ahead after that uh cloudy start on Monday and a shower or two.

[00:08:22]Your overnight lows will be in the 50s and it looks pretty good. And then next weekend comes and our typical Let me see here.

[00:08:34]I messed up on air this morning. I forgot to add the days. So, typically at we'll just take Huntsville International Airport since 1907, records have been kept. Average, May 19th is when we have our first 90° day. It's happened in March before. It's happened in June before. But May 19th is on average the first 90° day that Huntsville International Airport registers or observes is the better way to say that.

[00:09:04]So, if our forecast is correct and we only hit 89 on Saturday and we hit 90 on Sunday, that would be the 17th of May. So, pretty much hitting 90° is a is a common thing uh on average based on your climatological data of Huntsville International Airport. So, that 90 next weekend is not really a surprise.

[00:09:30]Um the Shoals I do believe is already hit 90. And I only bring up these two locations cuz that's where we keep all of our data and all of our records. Um but the Shoals, I think, hit 90 back in April on a day when Huntsville hit like 88, Shoals hit 90.

[00:09:44]So, to have a 90° temperature in the forecast for the what, third weekend of May is not un- unheard of, but it is going to be the first 90° day in Huntsville of the year.

[00:09:57]Um also, a pattern change because we've had so many days in the 70s and low 80s recently. Like Like April was warm. May has been nothing but cool.

[00:10:10]We've had some really chilly days. And finally, as we get into the next weekend, uh that pattern change pops and we get back into some above average temperatures for really the first time in quite some time in our area. Um 80s to near 90, and it will be more humid.

[00:10:27]I mentioned yesterday when I was here for weather extra, I probably could add a little thunderstorm icon for looks like Monday and possibly next Tuesday.

[00:10:35]But it's like those thunderstorm pop-up stuff where like we forecast them and somebody gets drenched with rain and they're like, "Oh my gosh, it was so much worse than you said." And then there's like 90% of the area that doesn't have any thunderstorms and they're like, "You said it was going to rain and it didn't." It's one of those where you can't really get it right. So, Monday or Tuesday of next week, I could maybe throw a couple of thunderstorm icons in there, but I mean, it's real isolated stuff. So, the theme for the next 10 days, um I think you take from it is not enough rain. One.

[00:11:06]The hot temperatures coming for next weekend. Two.

[00:11:09]And the third thing is more humidity for next weekend, too. We haven't really had to talk about humidity much. Um I know Eric Burkhardt a couple days when I was off Monday through Thursday that were a little bit more humid, but um Yeah, I mean, to hit 90 in May is not unheard of. So.

[00:11:28]All right. Uh Mother's Day plans. If you're going to brunch going out in this afternoon, you're good to go. Some of you told me you were taking mom golfing this morning, so I showed the golf graphic on air. I thought that was really cute. Um I imagine there was some delays for the golf uh tee off times this morning. Fog, dew.

[00:11:45]I don't know how that really works. I'm not much of a golfer. I'm a hack and I don't play much. Eric Burris would be the one to ask probably, but I would imagine that there was some delays at some of the courses this morning getting off the tees early in this morning.

[00:11:58]Just because it was so foggy and so gloomy.

[00:12:00]Um but that's really minimal um impact for a day that's going to turn out to be amazing. And temperatures will be in the low 80s by the afternoon. On that 10-day forecast, you see the 40% again, that's for tonight. Not for today.

[00:12:15]And uh 30% chance lingering into Monday morning, but that looks like it's even out of here by like 8:00 a.m. So, impacts a very early part of the day on Monday.

[00:12:24]But for now, I'm going to go. Jade comes in tonight. I am off Monday and Tuesday.
