I Playboy 1979 uh nice job on the repaint you just use spray cans M how'd you get this pink color in a spray can it uh it's available really yeah called Berry pink Berry pink okay so we're going to test voltages have the mpu plug removed and and black lead on ground 5 volts just go over to the test point over here check it and we have 5.26 that's perfect but now if I go up to the high voltage section I have 255 on that test point and on test Point what two and four they're both 255 so that means the high voltage sections smoked uh something in here and this little circuit right there is putting too much voltage to the score displays it should be 180 volts give or take 10 so we're going to we're going to fix that right now so in this circuit the three things that almost always like to go is this big transistor and then these two little ones and if I test them which isn't going to be easy to hold the camera and do this but I will try like right here I have it on that large transistor look it's it's a dead short so that transistor is smoked and then on this one if I can do this same thing this is a little transistor oh I just had it on there look it's a dead short and then this one's got a similar same thing tested on this little one it shorted too so those three components are going to come out for sure this resistor here R51 which is a 22k that one always smokes so that'll get replaced I'll check the dodes usually the dodes are okay uh and I'll change the orientation of the fuse holder so I can use the large 3 AG style fuses instead of just these little ones which are harder to get parts are replaced and then yeah not too many four main ones that's it um and modified the fuse holder so if you ever bow that fuse you can put a 3 AG fuse in which is easy to find did the standard grounding modifications this is for the 12vt filter capacitor uh negative leg to main ground this ties the two test points together the two 5vt test points and then this one's for the filter cap on the high voltage section um tie that to the main ground to those are standard modifications all do on this board board installed turn it on got my meter set to DC volts ground go up here check tp2 and look 175 volts perfect and I put a new born um uh adjustment pot there I also had to replace this resistor it turned out it was open um and now we have a working high voltage section and your Scorch display should be all happy so we'll turn it off put this connector back on power her back on and look at your score displays and hopefully they won't look all right unless your displays are bad do they look better right now they're looking real good oh yeah actually cuz you had burn like uh over voltage right you had over voltage yep that was on some of them because they were like too bright down here those look great now yeah now they look they look awesome perfect they flicker on my camera but that's just because the timing yeah there we go now I actually got them in syn but yeah you had this one was in particular it had a lot of bleed yeah that's the one it had bleed yeah and this one had bleed too because it were pumping 250 volts through instead of 175 burn the holes right in the end of it yeah you can see the the little burn marks in the glass that's what happens when the high voltage stays out for extended periods of times I had an extra one so I bought it there you go had to put a new Vista in this guy because it was blown up the one that was on there you said it was just fried in half fried in half so it did did its job what that does is at 130 volts or greater that thing shorts and this is the ACN and basically this becomes a dead short against the AC and it blows the circuit breaker back at the box and therefore protects the rest of the game against a high voltage Spike but and and these do they only have so much life in them so many turn-ons turn offs like I don't know how many bazillion they do but they do and then they eventually go sometimes they go even if there isn't a voltage spike is what I'm saying so who knows what had actually happened it doesn't look like we're going to be playing any Playboy anytime soon soon come on anytime soon well he goes through fixing up everything
