VoskCoin provides a sobering reality check on the death of the hobbyist miner, proving that survival now depends on energy arbitrage rather than just hardware. It’s a pragmatic look at how Bitcoin mining has evolved into a brutal industrial competition against AI data centers.

Am I STILL Making Money Mining Bitcoin?
Added:I'm mining Bitcoin.
I've been mining Bitcoin.
And to be honest, I don't know why I am mining Bitcoin. I've posted a few videos here on YouTube about my Bitcoin mining profitability. And I want to review for myself and to share here, am I still making money mining Bitcoin?
>> [music] >> Hey.
>> Oh, hi.
>> What are you doing July 21st, 23rd?
I thought you'd say that. Heading down to Mining Disrupt. They're back in Miami, Florida, baby. It's the biggest Bitcoin crypto mining conference in the world. Use our link to not only buy a ticket, but to get a discount.
When you look at the mining profitability for some of the top miners you can buy, and even though these are unreliable, I literally just had another Bitmain Antminer S21 XP break [music] a couple days ago. But, this this one of the top miners, right? $7.52 daily mining profitability, and at a very good electric rate of $0.07 per kilowatt hour, it costs $6.12 a day to run, yielding a profit of only $1.40.
Right? And so, this is the projected profitability and I'll break down like my actual real-world uh mining profitability here shortly. But, let's look at two top miners, right? And and disclosure, um I have Canaan miners. I'm actually rooting for Canaan, uh cuz I I think they're better built quality than say Bitmain, and I hold their stock. Uh so, if they do great, that would be awesome and exciting. And it would be lucrative for me.
But, it seems like they just keep diluting and selling their stock, absolutely freaking crushing me, and I'm down bad. So, we go to ASIC Marketplace, it's one of the best places to buy miners. We are an affiliate, we have a coupon code, code VoskCoin, and I personally order from them all the time.
We're Well, I used to when minor prices were better. This is not their fault. Uh this is the market price for these. An A16 nearly 6 grand, right? An A16 XP nearly 7 grand. Minor prices are staying high and I'm just sitting here scratching my head wondering why, right?
Because when I panned over to my Bitcoin miners, right? So, I've got four petahash here. I've got a bunch of miners down.
Um [music] you see I've got I got five miners down here and this is crushing my hash rate.
If you've watched some of our other mining profitability updates, but uh just call it four petahash is yielding about $110 worth of Bitcoin a day or 0.0018 BTC. Then I'm running some altcoin miners and then I get this paid out in Bitcoin, which is a really cool feature of Kryptex. So, if you like this content, you like the real world mining profitability, um and you want to see more of it, I've got a link to sign up for Kryptex down below.
But basically, [snorts] go over to the payouts and you can choose between these payout options. Uh but what stands out to me is the fact that when you go to your dashboard, you have your mining profitability and it's held in USD.
There's pros and cons to this. The cool thing about Kryptex, if you wanted something else, you can get paid out in that or paid out in Bitcoin or just get paid out in stablecoin. Whatever you want to do there. Uh but my favorite part, right, is I've got things like the Z15 Pro mining Z trash uh and that's just getting auto dumped in real time uh into Bitcoin, which is that's how it should be. Uh same with these other things. I'm I'm tired of shitcoins, all that, but what's wild is how many miners are I'm running and uh the general high profitability of these or at least, you know, semi-historically here. So, one's online but not working, so let's call it 16 and let's say on average it's costing $6 a day to run these.
And that would actually be $96.
Uh so, I'm mining $96 a day.
And I am earning $96 a day. I am making no money with these altcoin miners, >> [music] >> right? And then we look at the Bitcoin mining profitability. I've got four petahash. Some of this is last generation. Uh some of it's not, right?
So, four petahash is 4,000 terahash.
Let's just take an average of 200 terahash per miner. I think it's actually worse than that, right? Times six. I'm probably spending $120 a day to operate the or to run the Bitcoin miners to only earn $110 in Bitcoin. I am making no money mining Bitcoin. I am making no money mining altcoins. I am making no money, okay?
And it's not all about money or dollars or whatever, but like, you know, they still want thousands and thousands of dollars for these machines that will turn $2 a day. Okay, so after I account for a great electricity rate right there, right? I'm going to pull 816, right? A four machine that is only as good as the top specs of the previous generation. Bro, that ain't good enough.
That ain't good enough at all. And you can say, "Well, Vosk, I thought you were solo mining." I am solo mining. That's just my pool mining profitability. My solo mining, I haven't hit a block. I'm burning up a ton of cash. The These are all over the place. A lot are down or on other or or other places. But you can see a little bit of solo hash here. I posted this about a week ago, but uh yeah, I'm mining with over five petahash a second. I hit a new best share, which was exciting. But at the end of the day, I burned up thousands and thousands tens of thousands of dollars solo mining.
For nothing. And now as Bitcoin tumbles down in price, it's it's just very sobering, right? Because it's not all about the Bitcoin price point, right?
But I'm getting billed in USD.
Right? Like I'm racking up a bill bill bill bill bill. My power rate is going up up up up up. Generally speaking, that's the case for everyone across the world.
I don't I don't know why. I don't know why I'd get into mining right now. I don't know how you can even keep running your miners right now. Thank God I'm working on Operation Sun playing S, which is we're going to solar power the Boss Coin mining farm and however much energy I can generate in the end will be how many Bitcoin miners I can run.
Because this this is not sustainable. And even if I have my electricity rate, I'm only running at like 5 cents per kilowatt hour. All these numbers I ran today were at 7 cents. My my rate is worse than that.
Okay? Unless it's at one of my hosting providers, but my home mining rate is worse than the numbers we looked at.
Even on my best miner, I'm losing a dollar a day.
I'm getting obliterated right now.
Getting eviscerated. Getting annihilated. So, if you ask, "Voskc, are you making money mining Bitcoin?" No.
"Are you breaking even?" No. "So, you're losing money?" Yes.
"Why do you keep doing it?" I don't know.
I don't know anymore.
I'm not trying to be negative. I'm I'm frustrated with all this stuff. I'm I'm very excited about solar. Uh it's the only viable option for me here at this point. I'm very mad at the industry, not because of the price point. That's a whole different debacle, but you know, and I'm not mad at the resellers.
They're subject to the Chinese seller market rates uh and manufacturer rates there.
But, it's just when numbers look like this 10 years ago, you would buy these Bitcoin miners for like 4 5 600 800,000 bucks.
Probably delivered to you.
1,200 delivered for sure.
Now they want at a minimum three times that highest price delivered. Then if you're in the US, you're getting scammed on tariffs, maybe other places, too.
Adding additional couple hundred dollars, like Dude, it's 7 cents per kilowatt hour. If I get billed 100 just $120 for tariffs on that, that'll eat 3 months of my profits. It's not good. It's not It's not good at all.
You go like this. You're like, "Hey, is that everybody over there in the stock market investing in AI stocks?"
They're all getting rich. It's like that Squidward meme. They're outside having fun, running around, getting rich.
I'm over here speed running poverty, speed running bankruptcy, right? Driving myself right into poverty. It's just It's just bad, man.
And I can't think of a time that was this bad other at least while I've been in the game other than 2018.
But the coin prices were low.
You were still getting a lot of coin all things considered.
And it just still seemed like there was this big upside. It's like, "Yeah, we're down bad, but we'll be back."
Now it feels like we're down bad and like what's the point? GPU mining is obliterated by the AI boom. But Bitcoin and ASIC mining is getting crushed in a weird way by the AI boom, also, because you have just all of this focus and direction of power towards AI data centers, which is opening up less cheap avenues for Bitcoin mining, but it's also sucking up power. And I can assure you that everyone everywhere would rather be in investing in data centers, building data centers, or other side the companies working with the data centers as opposed to working with, say, a Bitcoin mining farm. People believe that Nvidia is going to be there next year and they're going to need their GPUs ran. It's not as sound as they say, "Oh, Bitcoin's going to be here next year and we need those Bitcoin miners that are made by a few shady Chinese companies [music] uh that price gouge the crap out of everyone they possibly can and then they turn around within a year and release a way better model. Yeah, yeah, that that's the safe business. No, the safe business are the the Nvidia graphics cards, not the Bitcoin miners. It's just weird unprecedented times and it's not good. And to be frank, if I wasn't actively building a solar farm, I mean, I I I would be s- I would just have to send everything to hosting or sell it because my rate here is not good enough to self-mine uh other than just for fun hobby on a small scale with mini miners. Like I I still think it's cool and fun to run a Badaax or a Nerdax or whatever, [music] you know, one of the Canaan mini miners.
But only one, two, a couple, like you start building a fleet of mini miners, you really missed the plot.
You should have just bought a normal miner and sent it to hosting or set up some solar panels at your home uh with the ability to run one full-size miner and get massively more hash rate, massively better odds uh the solo mine a block, but it's just I mean, what what has mining been reduced to? Just just a lottery? In a way, that's what it was always supposed to be, but it it's cost prohibitive to participate on a large scale for the average person.
That is not one CPU, one vote. I'm Vosk.
