Clearing skies give way to a beautiful weekend in Central Texas | KXAN Forecast (May 1)Added:
And we got the beneficial rain without really any severe weather. It was sort of very Goldilocks scenario for us here today. Not too much rain, but a good amount. I'll show you what's happening outside right now. Don't get to talk about Goldilocks that much these days.
Everyone remembers that story, right?
Okay, BK camera there. A lot of clouds, a little bit of drizzle. On radar, the rain, the steady rain is gone. You're just seeing these light green returns on radar there. That's just some passing drizzle trying to sneak south through the area. That'll keep drying up here tonight. And as we show you the big picture, there are a lot of clouds, but there's already holes opening in the clouds, and those holes will expand allowing the skies to clear within the next, say, 2 to 4 hours. So, there goes the rain. The clearing is next, and that will really ramp up the drying for us. Area of low pressure that brought us so much rain here today is now pulling off to the east and taking the lift and the showers and storms with it. So, here's the clearing trend tonight. Notice by about midnight, 2:00 a.m., skies are completely clear, and we should start very clear to begin your weekend. Saturday, sunshine a plenty.
There'll be some leftover puddles in the morning, especially in the areas that weren't able to soak it in super well here today.
But, there you go. It'll be drying as we go through your Saturday. Saturday night into Sunday, clear skies continue.
Sunday starts with sunshine. There may be a few high wispy clouds that drift in later in the day, but still a lovely weekend after some beneficial rain here today. Monday, clouds thicken up a little bit at times, but still should be a day that features a lot of sunshine.
Our forecast then tonight, down to 50.
10% rain chance. That's for the drizzle that we've got right now. Rain chances will be down near zero by midnight and beyond. But, I want you to pay attention to that overnight low cuz while the metro and our eastern counties drop to the low 50s, hill country, low to mid 40s. This could be our coldest night for several months until maybe November or December. This is a very cool for this time of year. So, here's your weekend.
75 on Saturday, mostly sunny. 79 with a scattered clouds on Sunday. Temperatures will be warming beyond the weekend. 80s Monday, upper 80s Tuesday, Wednesday.
Then a cold front on Wednesday knocks us back down to the low 80s Thursday and Friday. That cold front will also be able to take away the humidity that will be building through Monday and Tuesday, peaking Tuesday into early Wednesday in that very humid category, and then dropping through the day on Wednesday.
Wednesday's also going to bring our next best chance for some showers and thunderstorms as early as the morning, and then continuing through the afternoon. Right now, our rain coverage not super high just yet, but as our high-resolution computer models get close enough to be able to see this, we'll get a better idea on the timeline there of rain and storms and the front.
Behind the front, a few lingering showers on Thursday. Rain chances picking up just slightly on Friday.
Right now, the coverage Wednesday through Friday looks more scattered than widespread.
