MS University Unveils Brass Lotus Sculpture Honouring Founder Maharaja Pratapsinhrao Gaekwad

[00:00:01][music] >> The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda today unveiled a magnificent brass lotus sculpture at the lotus garden on its campus to mark the 118th birth anniversary of Maharaja Pratapsinh Rao Gaekwad, the founder of MS University of Baroda.

[00:00:22]The sculpture was unveiled by the university's chancellor, Her Highness Rajmata Shubhanginiraje Gaekwad, in the presence of Vice-Chancellor Professor Balchandra Banage, Registrar Professor K.N. Chudasama, faculty members, students, alumni, and distinguished guests.

[00:00:40]The ceremony was also graced by the presence of Maharaja Samarjitsinh Gaekwad, Maharani Radhikaraje Gaekwad, and other esteemed members of the Gaekwad royal family, adding to the significance of the occasion.

[00:00:53]The university paid rich tributes to Maharaja Pratapsinh Rao Gaekwad for carrying forward the educational vision of Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III and formally establishing the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda in 1949.

[00:01:07]The event celebrated his lasting contribution to education and public service, while the newly unveiled brass lotus sculpture now stands as a symbol of knowledge, growth, and the university's rich heritage.

[00:01:21]>> Today, we have birth anniversary of our university founder, Maharaja Pratapsinh Rao C. Gaekwad.

[00:01:29]It is 118th anniversary. On On this occasion, our chancellor, madam Rajmata Shubhanginiraje Gaekwad, inaugurated the lotus sculpture.

[00:01:41]And this sculpture was designed and prepared by faculty of Baroda Fine Arts, as well as the faculty of science. And this is one of the very large bronze based sculpture she's inaugurated today. Besides this, we have also inaugurated the wall of Faculty of Science uh by our Chancellor madam.

[00:02:05]>> Today is auspicious day which is the birth anniversary of the founder of this university Maharaja Pratapsingh Rao Gaekwad.

[00:02:15]He founded it in the name of his grandfather Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad.

[00:02:21]So today on his birth anniversary Maharaja Pratapsingh Rao's birth anniversary, we are able to unveil a very beautiful sculpture in our main garden of the university.

[00:02:37]So I'm extremely happy for that.

[00:02:40]We plan to put make a sculpture of lotus because lotus is the emblem of our university.

[00:02:49]And the motto is Satyam Shivam Sundaram.

[00:02:52]The lotus is a symbol of purity of thought of excellence in uh in teaching, in excellence in the thirst for knowledge.

[00:03:03]So all these things are reflected by this installing of this uh sculpture which because this flower symbolizes all these things and I'm extremely happy that we could do it today.

[00:03:27]Uh we are very glad to share that uh Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda has installed uh the emblem of the university. Uh it's a brass lotus with the patination uh done on the uh sculpture. It has been installed in the Science Faculty uh garden which is a renowned place.

[00:03:46]And uh it is one of its kind of a sculpture wherein um it is made out of the pure brass and the petition has been done on the leaf of the lotus and the petals of the lotus.

[00:04:01]Uh, this has been a moment wherein the chancellor of the university with the entire family had come here for the inauguration of that installation. And Vadodara is having one of its rare kind of a sculpture now installed in the university in the faculty of sciences.

[00:04:19]And I'm sure that the civil citizens of Vadodara will also like it. It's a rare of its kind and it's a pride of the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda.

[00:04:33]A few years back when madam had suggested that we should have a beautiful sculpture made of lotus over here.

[00:04:41]Uh, we were trying since that time and somehow the things were not materializing.

[00:04:46]But when the things were conveyed to me, uh, we took it up as a mission and ultimately, you know, we could find this particular day today where the lotus sculpture could be inaugurated. This lotus sculpture has been made with collaboration between Faculty of Science, Faculty of Fine Arts, especially the sculpture department. And the the unique the unique sculpture could be created which is unique in many senses because we do not have a brass sculpture which is a stand-alone lotus sculpture anywhere in the world. We are just getting the things verified but it has been uh, uh, come to our notice that this is probably the largest sculpture made from brass uh, of lotus which has been installed in the outdoor.

[00:05:32]So, we are very happy to have the sculpture installed over here on this significant day of the birth anniversary of our founder, Maharaja Pratapsingh Rao Gaekwad. Thank you.
