Standing in my kitchen on a Tuesday morning in June, one year after scrambled eggs, with the oak tree going its undisturbed green outside the window, and the sound of my son in the next room, and the foundation's quarterly report on the table and my own notebook open to a page I haven't finished yet. Still here, still writing. The story is not over. It was never going to be over. But this chapter, the chapter that began in a conference room with an envelope in a room full of people who thought they knew who I was, this chapter has an ending. And the ending is this. I am not the woman they thought they were burying. I never was. End.
