[00:00:00]She handed Andy Warhol 500 kilos of corn in front of the Buenos Aires Obelisco as a symbolic payment of Argentina's entire national debt as a performance as art and the art world has never quite recovered from her since. Marta Minujín is an Argentinian artist who has spent over 60 years making art that is impossible [music] to categorize, impossible to collect and impossible to forget. Born in Buenos Aires in 1943, [music] she grew up under the shadow of military dictatorship and developed a deep distrust of traditional art objects, things you could hang on a wall, own, control, sell. So she made work you could not own, happenings, [music] immersive environments. In 1965, she built La Menesunda, an immersive [music] installation that sent visitors through a maze of neon. It is now considered one of the earliest large-scale installation [music] artworks in history alongside Christo and Claes Oldenburg. They call her the Warhol of Latin [music] America.
