BREAKING: Hindu Groups Launch Saffron Shawl Campaign Against Karnataka Hijab Decision

[00:00:00]happening in Hubali following the Kunataga government's government's decision to permit the wearing of hijab in schools and colleges and several Hindu organizations have now launched a protest against the state Sri Rama Sen and other Hindu outfits have strongly opposed the government's move and have initiated a statewide campaign by distributing saffron shs to students in educational and institutions. The campaign began on Sunday with activists distributing saffron shows in schools and colleges particularly in Hubali and other spots of the state as well.

[00:00:34]Leaders of the organizations have said the drive is aimed at registering their protests against the government's decision on hijab. The move has reignited the debate over religious attire in educational institutions with Hindu groups accusing the government of appeasement politics. The saffron shrol distribution campaign is expected to continue across Karnataka in the coming days. A big protest we are seeing in Karnataka in opposition to the ruling to the big decision from the Karnataka government allowing wearing hijab in educational institutions. They are saying that this is in violation of some code of conduct of code of rules in educational institutions and they have also countered this by distributing severs to students in educational institutions. This is a move they are saying against the government's decision on wearing of hijab.

[00:01:34]I'm now joined by Abhishek uh who has more details in the story and uh Abishek can you tell us more how it exactly happened what was the particular Karnataka government's decision where it allowed that hijab will be allowed to wear in educational institution and how did this particular protest begin tell us more about this >> a small history or a brief history of What happened in the previous government which was headed by BJP was that they had banned the >> right we seem to have some interruption in the connection with our reporter Abhishek but this is the latest that we're tracking from Karnataka after the Karnataka government had allowed the wear uh hijab in educational institutions now a Hindu saffron group have in fact uh distributed saffron shs Two students are going to educational institutions saying that they are countering and opposing the move that was given by the Garnataka government which allowed hijab to be worn in educational institutions. A saffron shows being distributed to students of educational institutions to schools and colleges after Karnataka government had in fact said that hijab can be worn in schools and colleges.

[00:02:59]Now we now we now have Abhishek on the line again. Uh Abhishek so can you just walk us through into how what exactly triggered this particular protest? This is in opposition to the government's uh order saying that hijab can be allowed in schools and colleges and with this protest can you give us more context into this story what happened in the last couple of years when the government was headed by the BJP had brought into a rule uh that the hijab had to be banned in the educational institution the usage of hijab into the institutional educational institution was banned by the BJP government after which the rule had been followed by almost all the educational institutions throughout Canada. On the other hand, when the government was taken over by the Congress party, they came up with a decision stating that the hijab can be used within the college and the school promises as well to which various other Hindu groups and ideologies and various other people who belong to various other institutions opposed the decision of the government and addition to the opposition is uh now the Hindu groups be Sriram Husseini and various other Visha Hindu parish various other Hindu groups have started distributing the satin shs. in various other educational institutions to show the anger against the government to make sure that even Hindus follow the code of wearing a saffron shaw within the school. This directly is a threat to the Karnaga state government because an educational institution is a place where none of the traditional attire is supposed to be born when the government allowed the Muslim community to wear the hija within the school or the college premises for an answer for the question which had been laid on by the Canada state government. Now the Hindu groups have started distributing the saffron shs from uh class one to college students to make sure that even the saffron shaws to be allowed within the educational institution if at all there is any concern by an education institution for wearing the saffron shaws. They will immediately demand associations will immediately demand the removal of hijab within the educational premises and then only the Hindu groups will be okay or will accept the fact that even the staff and shaws have to be removed. Today in fact the Hindu groups are demanding that the uniformity has to be followed throughout the educational institutions in Karnataka and the government isn't allowing to do that because the government is trying to appease the Muslim community is what the Hindu groups are interesting and the Hindu groups are cursing the fact as of now but we will have to see how it goes about because at this point of time the Karnataka state has only a chief minister who is about to be exiting from the cabinet. We are expecting that BK Sultumar will be taking over the position of chief minister in the next couple of days and there is no education minister as of now. So we are awaiting to see how this particular situation will be tackled by the Canada state government because there is no intervention of the politicians in the Canada state government. It is only taken care by the officials and the administration. So we are awaiting to see if there will be any uh diploma or any rule which will be laid down in front of the education institutions by the Canada government or will they wait for another week until the uh cabinet of ministers start taking their oath and will they be a full stop in the next couple of weeks is the point of question which has to be answered by the new government which will be formed in couple of days.
