[00:00:54]>> And yeah, I found it for 150 return ticket per person from Copenhagen to Madera.

[00:01:01]>> Yes, because we always wanted to go to Portugal and especially Nada, but we didn't really like the prices. So, we were very very lucky to find the tickets for this price. And then we thought, okay, >> why not?

[00:01:15]>> Why not? And why not also add a pit stop in Lisbon to the mix? So that's what we did. This is our very first vlog on YouTube, so we kindly invite you to support us with an open mind and an open heart as we document the moments that we discover along the way.

So very affordable and you can pay by cash in the public transportation but you can also just pay with your Apple Pay or whatever you have a very easy >> she's from Denmark. [00:05:10]>> We finally came to our Airbnb in the Alama area of Lisbon and it's really really nice. We had some exciting news this morning when we were waiting for our flight because you checked the weather in Manera and it said that >> there is a big storm.

[00:05:31]>> So the status is right now that all of the hiking trails are closed all of them due to bad weather.

[00:05:40]>> Everything is closed >> which is >> bad news.

[00:05:46]>> Very bad news for us.

[00:05:48]>> But we have a hope. We still have a hope that weather will change in a couple of days and all of the hikes will open again, but we still waiting for updates from the institution of weather in Madera.

[00:06:02]>> Yeah. So, it was not the greatest news to find out in the airport with all of our hikes planned, but it will be fine.

[00:06:40]>> Walking through Lisbon, the first thing that hit us was the buildings. They are all beautifully covered in tiles and colors and it almost feels like walking through history.

[00:06:55]It's such a cool mix combined with the graffiti. The old and the new side by side. The city feels alive, like it's constantly changing but still holding on to its roots. The old trams climbing the streets are also a very true example of that. And of course, we couldn't hold ourselves back from having a little classic tourist moment. People were not lying about the hills, though. Coming from totally flat Denmark, that felt like a workout. And on that note, let's move on to the next important step on the agenda today.

[00:07:29]>> What's important for you when you travel to new places?

[00:07:33]>> Food. Good food. Local food here. So, I'm so hungry.

[00:07:42]>> Move.

[00:07:43]>> We have a rule that when we go to new places, we eat the local food and that way you experience a lot of the culture as well.

[00:08:01]>> Hungry paco is a bad paco.

[00:08:04]>> It's a bad combination.

[00:08:06]>> Bad combination. Dangerous combination.

[00:09:20]>> It's no secret that we didn't have much of a plan for these first short days in Lisbon, but sometimes no plan is the best plan. And for the rest of the day, we chose to let the wind and our stomachs lead the way.

[00:09:40]>> Fries landed under the table after the first bite. So, it's really good.

[00:09:49]>> We enjoyed the lively streets of Lisbon until the storm catched up on us and it was time to find our Airbnb.

[00:10:10]We really wanted to try to defend us from the sun, but as you can see, it started raining and all of the people in the very long queue is getting very wet.

[00:10:24]On day two, we set out to continue the Pifana success from yesterday, and we were recommended this place from a look, but it's safe to say that the storm isn't done with us yet. So, we decided to explore some drier places and seek shelter from the rain. And once again, we were confirmed that sometimes no clan is the best plan because we stumbled across this beautiful tile shop where the owner was kind and told us the story about the old tiles that covers most of the buildings here in this.

[00:10:53]Lisbon's tiles have been decorating buildings since the 16th century. Back then, green, blue, and yellow patterns were popular. In the 17th century, yellow and blue became common. And by the 18th century, the iconic white and blue tiles dominated. The tiles weren't just beautiful. Their glazed surfaces also helped protect walls from humidity and rain. Originally used in churches and palaces, tiles gradually spread to everyday homes, turning facads into vibrant public art. Today, many buildings feature historic or reclaimed tiles, letting the city's walls tell stories of color, history, and creativity across centuries.

[00:12:21]The rain finally cleared and gave us one last chance to wander through the streets of Lisbon. We took it slow today to save our energy for tomorrow's early flight to Fort, >> but I don't want to disturb the birds.

[00:12:52]I just said I want Between quiet corners and hills, we stumbled upon a hidden gym.

[00:13:45]A cozy little restaurant tucked away behind a small little store where we enjoyed our final meal and said goodbye to Lisbon for now.

[00:14:17]We feel so lucky to have experienced even just a glimpse of Lisbon. This city has such a special energy and it's clear that there's so much more to discover.

[00:14:26]But for now, it's time to say goodbye and head towards our next adventure.
