France's Justice Minister has proposed a three-year moratorium on legal immigration, arguing that the country has reached its limit for integration and assimilation, with some migrants lacking respect for national values; this policy shift reflects broader European concerns about cultural preservation and social cohesion, similar to immigration restrictions advocated by President Trump in the United States.

Is it Too Late for Europe?Added:
Here's something that I found very interesting. You know, if you go over to Europe, Alex, it seems like Europe has just had an open door policy, especially we're talking about like France and Germany, to a lot of the migrant populations coming in. And um there are a lot of people like President Trump who've been very critical of that policy. I think you go to some of these places and they're almost unrecognizable as France or Germany to a certain extent. Now you have the French Justice Minister, who's part of Macron's Renaissance Party. This is a center-right party, who has called for a three-year pause on immigration. Imagine that. Saying that the country has reached its limit. Um he said that some migrants lack respect for the values of the nation, thereby posing problems for integration, suggesting that one impediment to cohesion was the scale of immigration.
He says, "We've reached the limit of our capacities for integration and assimilation. So now I now have a very strong conviction. We must put an end to immigration as it is today. It's why I'm proposing a three-year moratorium on legal immigration." And he adds, "Let's expel those who must be expelled." I don't know. Where have I heard this before? It sounds a little like the Trump doctrine, where we only want to have people who come in here the right way with the right intentions. And we should 100% know that the people who are coming into our country want to assimilate into our culture and are here for the right reasons. And those who have not come here for the right reasons, get them out. What do you think, Alex?
>> Yeah, that I think the big takeaway from some of the stuff he said is the assimilation issue. I mean, that was just that that was obvious. He said he know I think he might have been asked a question. I don't know the way that the quote was kind of where it was like, "Well, race can play a role in whether someone can assimilate or not." And he's like, "But the overwhelming problem is that people don't respect the nation's values." And it's like, "Hello, that's also assimilation." You want people who want to come here, want to be part of society. Um so, yeah, I think that they're admitting that they've they've had a issues. We've known over here for a while, and I think that's why the country largely elected Donald Trump. Um his immigration was one of his main policies. Now, I would like to see Congress do more on this. I'm sure Eric has lots to say, but um you know, one issue we talk about is the birthright citizenship problem. And then also, there's this legislation pending out there, the Freeze Act, which would limit the number of people coming here. It would freeze it for a while, let the our immigration laws catch up with what's happening on the ground. You know, we've just hired I think they've just brought in a a lot of new immigration judges, which was needed because of the whole backlog. Um it's a severe problem, and I think the American people have recognized it. They see it, too. The the closing the border, what it's done for crime, it's gone down. The drug epidemic with fentanyl, it's it's not just about people coming here illegally. It is a domino effect among various industries.
Work, the workforce is an example. We were talking about men leaving the Democratic Party. Um to Eric's point, one one is that they're tired of being blamed, right? That there's a problem, so we're going to blame the the guys. Um that was one. The other was workforce and economic issues. And it's it's issues like the Democrats have pushed with immigration, that jobs are being taken, you know? I do think that it's a severe problem, and I'd like to see that now you have friends over there recognizing it. What are they going to do anything about it? I hope so. I hope they I hope it makes a difference.
>> Well, I mean, I think the question, too, Eric, is is it too late? Because if you go to a lot of these countries in in Europe, um again, there there parts of them that are unrecognizable, that um I would even say the UK as well. It's it's it's a weird situation over there.
But one of the things that um this justice minister also said is he wants to eliminate the automatic rate of family re- reunification or chain migration, which is essentially this entire family coming over on the back of of one visa. So, you get one there, and then everybody comes along as well.
These are common-sense policies, and this is the kind of stuff that that President Trump has talked about here in America. And, man, he he got a lot of heat for it from a lot of folks on the left. And, I would even say from a lot of these European countries. And, now they're like, "Oh, well, wait a minute.
Maybe this could be a problem. Maybe we need to change course." I think for a lot of them it almost might be too late.
>> Uh well, to the point, you heard him say that they want to shut the door, but they didn't say we want to start sending them back. That's actually one of the things I think that Donald Trump and his administration, as you well know, have been successful at doing for the last year is, you know, it's self-deportation and deportation of illegal immigrants. I I did not hear the French minister suggest that they would take that step because it may in fact be too late if if if liberal European leaders are suggesting putting an end to very liberal um immigration policies, it just shows you how bad the problem has actually gotten. And, so I think you're hearing that. You're seeing, of course, this this rise in movement uh it across Europe, right? In the UK, in Italy, in Germany, people are saying, "Look, this has become uh way too much, and we are losing kind of the core of what makes our culture itself." Ironically, you know, this is the second thing France has done recently to try to protect French culture. They're trying to put an end to the immigration. They're also trying to put an end to like tobacco-less pouches because apparently smoking is also key to uh French culture. They like try to ban the importation of these uh Zyns and things like that. So, uh they're having a moment, and I I give them credit for being willing to stand up and take the heat. They would not have been willing to say this a decade ago, and I don't think it's just because of uh the the immigration problem wasn't that bad. I think it's because um Donald Trump has made it more acceptable to say things that everyone sort of agrees to be correct, but maybe in certain circles aren't considered to be okay to say.
>> That's so interesting. They're bringing the cigs back, huh? In France, they're trying to get everybody back on the cigarettes smoking.
All right, well, good luck with that.
That is very French, by the way.
I I'm personally not a fan, but I I love that they're trying to retain some of that culture because I'll tell you what, I think that stuff is important and we we need to do it here and we shouldn't be ashamed to do it here in the United States. That's that's, you know, completely acceptable and you're right.
If you have some of these folks who 10 years ago would have absolutely never spoken out against this now realizing that this is the right thing to do for their country, for their culture, and for their future, I think they probably should all thank Donald Trump because without him putting it out there and making it more acceptable and making it more mainstream to say these things, who knows? I mean, they none of them would say anything about it and who knows what what would happen as a whole to Europe. Hey, thanks so much for watching.
