Carnivorous plants like Nepenthes and Drosera exhibit distinct growth patterns including seasonal leaf jumps during summer temperatures, color changes in response to lighting conditions, and recovery from root issues through substrate replacement; successful cultivation requires appropriate pot sizing, humidity control, and monitoring of growth points and new plantlets.

Nepenthes/ Drosera UpdateAdded:
Hello everyone. I realize I have not done a video update in quite some time.
So I am doing a little video update.
This here is the uh seaggrown nepenthees ampularia. It is still doing quite well.
I've recently moved it into a larger pot size here just to give it a bit more room to expand and because it does have some little pups coming up there as well.
I guess I'll start more on the the pen side here. Uh this is a unknown the pentheses. No ID, but it is kind of like a floating blog setup still. So just sits there floating in water. Bunch of ukricularia and some other things. I think there's a little drosser in there.
But yeah, he's doing pretty good. I just recently had quite a huge leaf jump as you can see there. So definitely tell that the summer temperatures are kicking in. Do have two random orchids in the back there. They're doing their thing.
Lots and lots of aerial roots.
Another unknown aenth.
Beautiful new leaf coming in. This is the most recent picture here.
And uh it is fairly striped.
I'm kind of shocked. So I'm interested to see what uh what he becomes or she.
The uh I think that's the Rob. Yep. Rob fetchy. Guessing it's a Bruno Hazotics.
It also had a fairly nice leaf jump.
That's the newest one coming in there as you can see compared to the older one.
But fairly flared, pretty pretty slow growing as well, but might give it a new pot. I think it's been in that one for about a year or two, so definitely time for freshening up. Uh the guy in the back there would be my Veti Not Morad.
It is a uh I think it's a striped Yeah, striped X candy striped. I find it doesn't hold its pictures all too well.
They kind of will hold good and then just have a sudden sudden collapse and dry up. But when you get the pictures, they do have some fairly nice striping going on there.
But again, I find they just or at least right now it degrades quite quickly. But honestly, it might be some of my carrot, too. At times, I'm just getting a bit more into it again. I have been slack over the winter, I will admit. But I'm going to turn him around. Do it like that. I do have some uh AMA or AMA AMI, however the heck you pronounce that one, uh seedlings here.
They'll be about a year old in August, but they are I'm just going to remove that actually while thinking about it.
They are starting to ever so slowly pick up some uh some growth rate, however.
So, I'm hoping by fall they'll be a little bit more manageable to look at.
This will be the Hispa Beck.
It pretty well sat there with one leaf for three, four months and then all of a sudden it kind kind of came back to life. Really really nice pictures on this one though. I'm hoping the white pill per pur stone remains cuz it's just such a unique contrast of very green plant. Not much reading compared to like some of my more ampular areas.
Um, but then a striking red pitcher and then the white purse stone.
It will be fairly interesting to see what uh what becomes of that guy. Another random uh ampularia that's just a hybrid species.
It's mixed with not sure what, but he's doing pretty good.
Some die off on that guy. from this side is mostly drawer. I do have some uh pinata in there as well. Mainly that's the newest guy. Nice little pink guy.
Do have some uh I'm not even going to try to pronounce that right now, but the uh Australian pitcher plants there. My phone wants to focus. There we go.
And it looks like I also got a little uh forked sundue in the background there, too. Those things are like weeds at times.
Nice little cross there I got from Willie.
It had the uh succulent winter vase, so it's starting to come back out of it.
Those nice carnivorous leaves again.
And then just some random alba and the red form. Then the Madagascanus I probably butchered that pronunciation again, though. But all in all, this tank's doing pretty good. And I do have some uh bromeilads there as well.
But further down here, get another tank.
This is mostly uh Jasa, lots of forked sundos.
They're getting a fairly good size onto them. As you can see, these grow lights.
I have actually had these since 2019, 2020. I know it's uh before CO was ever a thing. So, they are pretty weak. I'm not going to lie, but the results still speak for themselves. Mind all the crap on the glass I got to clean up, but that's some tokens as well. But as you can see, since swapping them over, they are losing some of their reddish color.
Their red color was when they're up in there with the uh spider farmer light, but they're still happy. The growth rate is not slowed down at all, but I'm hoping to unload some of these guys soon.
And for the biggest part of the update is the Highland setup. So, these guys had a bit of a sudden collapse.
Unfortunately, they had a bit of a moldy root issue. I ever so carefully swapped out the substrate a little while ago, and the new growth is showing. As you can see, lots of new little growth points. And a new little uh plantlet coming out from the bottom of that guy.
He's not as happy. As you can see, some black spots, but the leaf has stopped uh progressing into whatever was going on there, and it stabilized a bit, and it's still growing. So, really hoping I can save that guy. And I do have to clean out the bottom water there. But yeah, that's just a little bit of the highlands there. And uh thank you for watching a quick update video.
