A message from the Wells-Wentworth Connector

[00:00:00]Hi, my name is Chris Bowey Gentry and I'm an organizer with Chicago bike grid now. And today I'm reporting to you from the Wells Wentworth connector.

[00:00:09]This is one of the important missing gaps in Chicago's bike grid that provides access to downtown from the south and southwest sides. It was constructed over two years ago and yet remains closed to through travel.

[00:00:28]I accidentally made my way in here cuz I think they opened the gates for construction. But this shows you we have a beautiful grade separated bike lane that would make safe commutes to go from the south and southwest side into downtown and yet the city continues to refuse to open it.

[00:00:45]Please contact your alderman, especially contact Alderman Nicole Lee to get her and pressure her that the city needs to open this up as we approach bike season in Chicago. This is such a critical corridor and it's a shame that we are 99% of the way there and yet there's a gate blocking us off.
