[00:03:45]This is the children uh very very fun trauma release directed by Max Cal Manowitz Cal Manowix uh and written by Carlton J. Albbright and uh Edward Terry who also gave us Luther the Geek which we watched very very recently and I liked it so much I thought we'd watch their other movie. Uh this is a fun one.

[00:04:10]came out June the 6th. Estimated budget of $400 grand uh with a box office in rentals between $2 and $7 million. Uh later it was originally Albbright Films later acquired by Trauma Entertainment, our great friends. Uh we are watching this on Prime. [00:05:27]>> I really love uh I've I've worked for Trauma since 2009. So I'm I'm a very very big fan.

[00:05:40]>> Well, this first shot's pretty cool. So this is a real movie and in fact our composer uh is a man named Harry Manfredini who you guys know because he did the soundtrack for all the Friday the 13th.

[00:05:56]>> In fact this film was shot backto back with Friday the 13th sharing a number of crew members and then Harry manini scored this first. So, a lot of people criticize this movie, saying it ripped off the Friday the 13th soundtrack.

[00:06:11]Actually, the Friday the 13th soundtrack ripped off this movie because he reused a lot of the aesthetics in his score.

[00:06:20]>> Is that sort of just like >> windy up here?

[00:06:23]>> Oh, I'm sorry.

[00:06:26]>> Okay. Uh, is that sort of like uh >> like he's just reusing it cuz he's like, "Well, I like this and nobody's going to see this movie anyway." I guess >> I think it was it's more like not the same notes, but it's a lot of the same instruments.

[00:06:37]>> So, he was definitely getting >> the ideas for what he wanted to do. And he was I I think he kind of practiced on this movie. I see.

[00:06:45]>> And then Friday cuz they were both >> similar budgets like they didn't know which one was going to be a huge success.

[00:06:52]>> I see. uh they literally when Friday the 13th wrapped they started this and a lot of the crew just switched over >> and he just went one into the other in terms of composing >> and I believe yep that uh gentleman right there is also in Luther the Geek.

[00:07:10]Uh he is the writer of the film I believe.

[00:07:13]>> Uh the one in the white hat.

[00:07:36]And also this was shot in uh Great Barington in Egrammont, Massachusetts and Cananan, Connecticut.

[00:07:48]The alternate title is the children of Raven's Back, which is not a real place.

[00:08:12]>> And this is uh very much a theme in lowbudget movies. uh the the the nuclear scare and 80. So we are mid are we mid cold war at this point.

[00:08:24]So you get a lot of get you get a lot of people afraid of nuclear stuff and like biological weapons.

[00:08:31]>> I ended up on conspiracy Tik Tok last night and I'm already a little spooked by that for things I don't understand.

[00:08:38]But the word nuclear is in it.

[00:08:41]>> So is like you know the plot already.

[00:08:44]>> Yeah. Okay. I was going to say because my guess is a child's going to get in here and he's going to become nuclear radioactive.

[00:08:51]>> That's a very good guess. You're you are >> halfway there. Okay.

[00:08:56]>> I think somehow this nuclear stuff is going to get into children, make them zombies, >> and Josie nailed it.

[00:09:33]Uh, this movie was out of print for I want to say a couple of maybe two decades and Trauma actually found a decent print of it and did a 25- year anniversary DVD and Blu-ray and then Vinegar Syndrome uh recently put it out with deleted scenes and a complete remaster based on the original uh 35.

[00:10:04]>> Yeah. Yeah.

[00:10:07]>> So out of print means like they actually just didn't know like they didn't have one. They were like >> it wasn't available to like buy.

[00:10:14]>> But they didn't lose it or anything.

[00:10:16]They weren't like [ __ ] that movie's gone.

[00:10:17]>> No. But a lot of movies do wind up kind So VHS's deteriorate.

[00:10:27]>> If they're not stored right. So there's a lot of movies that are just gone.

[00:10:35]>> I have a friend that's an archavist uh and that's his whole job is to find movies and news footage that would be relevant uh that's about to be lost.

[00:10:45]>> Whoa. Okay. And he digitizes it and puts it in like a big library at Northwestern.

[00:10:55]I love the Beatles and there's a story about Paul McCartney losing a bunch of demos that he had in like in a bag recorded in Africa. So there's just like a bunch of unreleased Paul McCartney songs somewhere in Africa.

[00:11:08]>> I mean like I believe most of the first couple decades of TV are lost because the networks didn't want to buy new tapes. So they taped over >> Oh, interesting. the first couple years of te like unless it was something prolific they just got rid of it.
