In the box truck business, profitability depends on understanding your cost per mile (CPM) to ensure you're not operating at a loss; even if rates appear attractive, if your CPM exceeds the rate you're earning, you're slowly losing money. This financial analysis should be the foundation of any business decision, whether scaling up to additional trucks, accepting loads, or evaluating rental versus owned vehicles.

How's everybody doing in the business right now? Dallas is in the building.
the best factoring services.
Be honest with you, I've been with otr Solutions for shoot five and a half years now.
We're going on six years with otr Solutions.
That's who I recommend. I'm also partnered with them.
um you know if you if if anything if if you can't get set up with otr for factoring um I typically send people over to RTS if you can't get factored with otr that's only if you cannot get factored with otr I typically send people over to RTS Dallas and if I was just in Dallas like when was I in Dallas a month ago I was just in Dallas a month ago. I went to this What was that? That little spot we went to. We went to this spot. It was It was nice, man. It was real nice. I got some footage. Running Warrior in the building. What's up?
It's just hot as I don't know what out there in in Texas though.
I was I was in Texas and I was telling somebody like, "Yo, I'm thinking about a a crib out there in Texas." They like, "Nah, no, no. They said don't do They said don't do Houston." I'm like, "Don't do Houston. What's wrong with Houston?"
Said, "Nah, it's getting crowded. It's getting getting crowded out there now."
I've been seeing them cribs they got out there. Like they cribs is fire.
Cribs is fire out there. It's like you getting a you get more bang for your buck out that way.
Says, "Can you aid your authority with a cargo van?"
Absolutely.
Absolutely. But what I would recommend is, you know, it depends on if you have it like that, you know, or get your find your little older model like little Ram little 1500 one one of those type of vehicles that you can catch at an auction somewhere like $500 $600.
Get that, throw it on that, you know, put the insurance over there on that old older model. Just let it age that way.
Shout out to everyone in the chat. Gus, shout out to Gus Gonzalez. Shout out to everyone in the chat. Blessings.
Blessings. Right back at you, Gus.
Appreciate that, brother. Appreciate you.
Appreciate you.
I just wanted to jump on and be able to answer as many questions as I can because I know some people, especially newer people, have been having, you know, some up and downs, ups and downs.
Of course, if you call them brokers and and you're relying on the brokers to build your business, it can be a lot tougher starting off, especially if you don't have anyone's authority that you can, you know, potentially lease on to.
Now, mind you, when you're thinking about leasing on to people's authorities, anything you do affects their company while you're running under their their authority. you get pulled over and you have their company information on the side of your vehicle, that affects that guy.
That affects that guy. So, I would tread lightly.
Tread lightly.
Even if you were considering letting someone lease on to your company, tread lightly. Know who you're leasing on for sure.
Know who you're leasing on to your company.
Be honest. At this point, you you you lease on to me, you might as well buy another truck.
I ain't I'm telling you, I got violations that I I that had nothing to do with me. I said, "Oh, oh yeah, that that's that's the part of the that's the part of the game they don't talk about on on when you're leasing people on. So you got to be careful when you leasing people onto your authority. Yo, for sure.
I'm for real.
And have you a backup MC if that's something that you're considering.
Have you a backup somebody cuz somebody can take you out the out the game.
They can take you out the game.
Oh man. Got a throwback. That's a that's that's a throwback question right there.
Somebody just asked me that the other day. Like when was the last time, man, my my my uh I still got Reason on here.
I I do have the latest version of Reason on here. I'll be honest with you. I actually forgot that the subscription was renewing and they they hit me again.
So yeah, I'm still locked in Reason. But I haven't made a track, man. I I I do want to make a track. I do want to make something. I have been incredibly busy and incredibly blessed on top of that. You know what I'm saying? So, it's been it's been a journey, man.
It's been a journey. Still got the the reason is still on deck, though, for sure.
That's what I liked there. Caught a Nashville to Houston for 2600. Right place, right time. Hey, you got to be in position.
A lot of people still getting ready to get ready. [laughter] Getting ready to get ready. Yeah, man.
I'm about to.
I'm about to. I ain't heard that song since Crisscross.
Warm it up, Chris. I'm about to [laughter] said I'm getting ready to get ready.
Oh man. So Gus asks, "How are insurance rates looking for everyone?
[clears throat] My current rate is about 1,100 a month."
About 1,100 a month. That's on my refrigerator.
Man, I got a special guest I'm gonna be bring I'mma be bringing on here real soon.
Excuse me. One of my mentees. Y'all seen me train training rope out there in Connecticut. If you haven't watched that video, um I think that was about a shoot a little over a year and some change ago.
But Ro is up. He up right now. He is up.
He up. He's several trucks deep in the game right now, y'all. I got We got to I got to bring his story up here cuz he he he he's doing some phenomenal things.
phenomenal things right now and he will be in Vegas. So, anybody coming out the relay con tap in with rope tap in with him. We got a couple of dedicated couple dedicated lanes.
Couple of them. I said I know that's right. You know what's so wild about that? And we going to have this whole conversation when I bring them up on the channel. But what's wild about that is when I was training him on the Amazon, you know, on Amazon relay, I was telling him like, yo, it's gonna be a game changer for you.
Like, you're in a market to where contract should not be difficult for you to get, you know? So, and he got them. He got him. He got him.
Got him.
I said, "Boy, oh boy, this going to be a fire video when I drop this one. This interview gonna be fire."
That's motivation.
Let me see. Let me see. Question.
Question. Gus asks, "If you scale up to a second truck, does the coverage double or does it just increase partially?" It depends on the truck.
That depends on the truck.
Right? If you already have a policy, typically, of course, you don't have to put another down payment down. You know, if you're already, you know, if you're already binded uh into a policy um the following month, you know, they'll tell you what your increase is and then, you know, they'll add on to it. But usually depending on, like I said, it varies depending on the location that you live in.
depending on the driver that you're adding. All of those could be a factor in how much more that premium goes up.
Sometimes it's partially, you know, sometimes it's not like crazy, especially if you have a older a older truck. Depends on how much you're covering on that truck. So, it's a lot of different factors that come into play. If you have a brand new truck, of course, you know, you might see a nice little jump because now you're covering something like a 2025. You get what I'm saying? So, it just depends on the vehicle. A lot of that stuff comes into, you know, you got to put a lot of that into the equation.
Hope that answered that question for you guys. Shout out to the 31 people in here right now to say I just kind of decided to jump on this live. Shout out to everybody that's in the live right now.
If you're in here, do me a favor. Hit that thumbs up button so YouTube will say, "Yo, Big Vic is live. We need to send this out to some more folks that's that's that's that's tapped in right now."
So, hit that like button. Hit that like button. Somebody Somebody tell me what the count is right now. I'mma see if y'all actually hitting that button.
What's the What's What's What's What's the like count right now? Hit that button. Hit that button.
Regina, shout out to Regina Brown.
Regina said, "My friend has everything ready but insurance. They act like they just need a $1,900 deposit, but after that it will be 800 a month." That sounds about right though.
That sounds about right. Come on y'all.
Let's get them likes up. Let's get them likes up.
Oh, 15. We We at 15. We at 15 right now.
Wait, Danielle said 36. What? What? How many likes we at? Where we at right now?
36.
We got 36 on the like button. Oh, we got 36 people. 16 likes. Okay, cool, cool, cool, cool. Let's get them likes up. We got 34 people. And what y'all doing?
Sleeping? Wake up. Let's wake up. Stop playing.
Stop playing.
Oh, that was people. All right, cool.
Cool. So, yeah, we at 21 right now. All right. All right. We getting up there.
We getting up there. Tap that button, y'all. 23. All right. Y'all waking up.
Y'all waking up. Y'all waking up.
I appreciate the wake up.
All right. So, what other questions we What other questions do we have? What other questions do we have? Did I miss a question?
So, uh, I meant to ask, um, who that Thomas, what what was that? What was the rate per mile on that that 2600 right there? What was the rate per mile? And what's what's your cost per mile to operate? That's the real question right there, y'all. What is your cost per mile to operate? like that number could look great, but if that if your CPM, you know, is not justifying that rate, then there's no need to take the load.
That mean you slowly losing.
If you running for less than your cost per mile to move, for sure.
And shout out like once again, shout out to all the new uh channel members too. I appreciate you. Shout out to y'all.
James from Seattle in the building.
What's up, James?
What's going on?
Seattle. Seattle said Jordan. The Jordan vault said what Jordan said. Jordan said, "I went from one truck to four trucks." Wait, whoa, whoa, whoa.
I thought we was about to celebrate.
Hold on. Let me read this again. I went from one truck to four trucks to zero trucks this last two years. Been trash for me with Amazon relay rates so low I can't afford to keep spending my spending my wheels. What? What? What happened, Jordan?
What market you in? Like, where you located at?
Where you located at, Mr. Jordan?
Wait, you must have been renting trucks because there is no way you went from one truck to four trucks. Now you down to zero trucks. That sound like rental trucks. That sound like you purchased all four of them trucks and then you just decided this is a wrap. I don't got no more trucks now. Yeah, that give me a little more clarity on that. Oh, you sold them. You're in the N. You're in New Orleans.
You in New Orleans.
Well, if I said one thing, it's something that I said years ago.
Whenever you invest in that truck, right? Whenever you buy that truck and you decide, you know, game's over for you.
Oh, you don't got to worry about getting rid of that truck. You definitely can sell that truck.
You definitely can sell that truck, man. Here's a Here's the number one question I get in my direct messages on Instagram.
Buddy, all I'mma tell you is this right here.
Got quite a few people in my DMs, man.
But um yeah, I'mma just let that ride right there, brother.
Well, I ain't going to knock a man doing their thing. I ain't going to do that. I ain't going to do that.
I mean, they have a business set up.
They got people coming in. They got dispatching over there. They setting up your company for you. You know, you see the videos.
you know.
Yeah, that's some something. You have to catch me off off live. Got to catch me off live with that one. I I'm not going to go on the on live and and and do that one right there.
Robert Leonard, what's up? Robert say been in business five months and I like the direction I'm headed. There you go.
There you go. Hey, Robert. What What market are you in? Like, where you located at?
What market you located in? Yeah, Jordan Insurance 3,000 each truck. That's wild.
You telling me you was paying 3K per truck?
I kind of see why you you you you threw the tow, brother. That's a lot of money.
3,000 per truck. What?
That's crazy, bro. That's a lot of money, cuz I a I'm not going to hold you right now. Like, that's Yeah, that's a that's a that's a baggie.
Especially if you're you know, you you sound like you were depending depending on really only one source of uh freight with those trucks or mainly one source of freight. That that's that's that's definitely going going to hurt you if them rates drop. Like 3,000 a month, bro. That's a that's a lot of money for insurance, bro.
Per truck.
I'm I'm I'm [music] thinking you said that right. You said per truck, right?
Yes. You got each truck up there.
It's a lot of money, bro. That would be tough especially if the market slows down or you you know you're looking at you're looking at certain freight that you're moving and the numbers are just not making sense for you right like with a situation like that you probably would have been better regional or potentially putting those trucks otr maybe I don't I'm not sure what your like what your strategy was when you had you know all of your trucks But uh Lucas, Lucas, shout out to Lucas.
For someone just getting just getting in the box truck business with 25,000 in capital, what truck do you recommend and what to look for in getting a truck? I'm going to give you like the simplest answer possible.
What truck do I recommend? I recommend a truck that is working very well.
I'm not I wouldn't even be concerned about the year of the truck if the motor is running and it's strong and I got a diesel mechanic that that truck checks out with. If I'm dealing with a dealership and the truck checks out, I got a JPro report that the dealership has given me for that truck and it's telling me the the maintenance history or the work that was done to that truck. And if that checks out, then I may take a chance with that because the thing about these trucks is they don't come with, you know, it's not like buying a car. They don't come with a Carfax report. So, your JP Pro report is the closest thing that you're going to get to like a Carfax, right? If you get yourself involved in buying a used vehicle, you want to know what you're buying. You don't want the surprises, you know, to start hitting you after you drop your money.
And with 25,000 in capital, I would probably be going to an auction.
That would be my first place I would be checking to purchase a vehicle. I would go to a commercial auto auction. Richie Brothers, Taylor Martin, uh Fort Wayne, Indiana has a really nice auction out there. Uh when I did my training out there, one of the guys that was at the training, they was pick they were picking up they picked up a nice truck from that auction out there. 14,000.
That thing was clean. Clean. I think it was a Heo. I want to say it was a Heo that they purchased. Clean truck. They had their other guy fly down and they, you know, they flew back, but they had their guys drive it back up to um up to the city. I think they was in Rhode Island if I'm not mistaken.
Massachusetts, Boston. They were somewhere around there.
But I hope that uh answered your question for you. Look for a Cumins engine. Allison transmission. Even a eaton or a or a Detroit engine is is strong is also strong is also strong [music] too. I hope that answer that question for you, Lucas.
Okay, let me show comments on stage. I know I was missing something. There we go.
Here's [clears throat] another great question. Regina asks, "Should should you take out a personal loan to help cover the cost of doing business for the first year?"
That all depends on your game plan. So, when I first started, I did get a personal loan, but I got a personal loan to purchase the truck, right? So, I did have backup uh personal credit cards at the time. I was still building my business credit in the very beginning. So, I did have um that $13,85 pay 10 grand cash for my truck. 500,000 miles on it, y'all.
500,000 miles. I was hungry and green all at the same time.
And when I made it back with that truck, I said, "Yo, this truck make it back to the crib.
We gonna run these numbers up and I'm not looking back and I did not look back.
So, taking out a personal loan, sometimes you have to do what you have to do, you know, but you want to make sure that that plan is solid. The plan has to be solid. You have to know what freight you are moving before you take out any loans on anything. You have to know that your truck is going to be moving.
That's what I would that's what I would you know recommend you know if the personal loan also have has a low interest rate if you can find something with 0% interest on personal loan probably won't find 0% interest but lower interest and you have a game plan got to take the risk to take the risk with no risk there's no reward I hope that answered your question, Miss Regina. Hope that helps.
Uh, Jordan said, "I was paying 8,000 a month for notes and 12,000 a month on insurance."
12,000 a month on insurance. Bro, 8, Bro, you just rattled off 20,000 a month.
You just rattled off 20k a month in just payments.
Boy, God bless you. You had four trucks.
So you you a month for how many months were you rolling? Like how many months did you stay, you know, like actively like were you moving the trucks? Like, did the numbers make were they making any sense for you to keep rolling? Like, like, what? Fill me in, brother. Fill me in, please.
So, we got Hassan Hunter. Shout out to Hassan Hunter. Quarter question. First year of authority. Whether box or semi is a slow rolling strategy best by renting trucks in order to age your authority.
What can we do to overcome that hurdle in the first year?
You got a couple of options.
So when we start talking age of authority, right?
When we get into like the authority side of things, that's mainly people that are looking at working with brokers when they start off their company. Like I know people that did not mess with brokers their first six months.
You know, they went to the the Lowe's and, you know, the the Home Depot and, you know, pulled up the gig apps, right? ran a lot of that stuff starting off their first six months before they even thought about dealing with brokers because the brokers are the ones that put that, you know, that stipulation on you like, "Oh, we need a year. We need uh six months." And those are the ones that typically do that. So, you have to seek out other sources. I dropped a video 10 other niches that you could tap into where you don't really have to worry about the age of your authority like that. It's just some of those other niches are not, you know, what people accustomed to doing out the gate.
But that's an option. Those are other options for you, you know, to where you don't have to lease on to someone's authority. Like you just several different ways that you can still move that equipment in the very beginning.
And renting trucks, that's a strategy when you have work. I'm just be honest with you. That's when you already have the work. Cuz think about it. The moment you rent that truck, the clock is ticking.
Week one is coming around. Whether you move freight or not, now your back is against the wall, which means you start looking at whatever. If you do get something to move, especially if you're dealing with a broker, and they say yes, they know you're new.
They're lowballing you nine times out of 10 because they know you just trying to get, you know, get get some freight moving. Especially like, you know, every now and again someone might get lucky with TQL. Shout out to Bobby L. He got kind of lucky with TQL, you know, being able to pick up some contracts with them as a new authority and something just recently as well.
Shout out to him on that, you know. So, it just depends on the broker that you're dealing with a lot of times.
But I give you an example like my menty, one of my mentees, Rogue. And I'm going to be bringing him on the channel real soon. Um, he bought he has three trucks and I want to say three rentals right now. Why did he get three rentals? Because his contracts and his dedicated lanes called for him to get the rentals. It made sense. He already has the work.
See, people were doing it kind of backwards. They they're getting the rentals and don't have no work. They don't know what they're going to move.
They're just saying, "I'm going to go get a rental. I'm I'm going run it up."
It's going to be very difficult. You know, you might get lucky with a load or two here and there, but when you get out to where you going, what happens when you don't, you know, when everybody's still telling you no and you've been sitting for a day or two? That's going to get frustrating very, very quickly.
Not saying that's going to be your story if you decide to go rent a vehicle. But that's just something to think about before you do that. Like that was the biggest thing for me. The one of the biggest decisions in the very beginning for me was should I rent a truck? You know, back then authorities, you know, of course you still would run into the brokers that would say no. You know, your authorities too new. But there were more yeses than nos, right? five and a half years ago.
There's way more fraud now than there was five and a half years ago as well.
So, these are the reasons why a lot of these brokers is telling you, "No, you need two years." Like, one broker said two years. I went, "What?
That's crazy." But, you know, got to think about it from their from their point of view, too. So, if you if you bring on a new carrier and something happens to that customer's freight, then now you're held responsible for it. So, you know, I get it. I get it.
Jordan say he's paying 12,000 a month in fuel. Oh, yeah. Yeah, bro. That's Yeah, that's that's a that's [laughter] what G say chicken and rice first year, baby. Chicken and rice the first year.
All chicken and rice.
And you was running out of Atlanta. Um ATL. You running out of ATL? No, no, that's Jordan. Shout out to ATL. ATL in the building. Man, I got some great loads out of Atlanta. Great loads.
Great loads coming out of ATL.
Like if you're in that market, you're around all the Amazons.
A lot of broker freight. Especially if you have an aged authority out there.
Yeah. You going you going to eat out there for sure. Shout out to one of my mentees, uh, Chris out there. Chris doing this. He's doing this big one out there right now. Out there in ATL.
You'll see us. You'll see us in Vegas.
If you coming out to Relay Con, you get to meet a lot of these guys, man. Get to talk to them. Get to network with them.
You know what I'm saying? Find out what they doing, how they moving. Bobby L's going to be in Relay Con for the first time this year. Shout out to Bobby L's.
So, if you y if y'all run relay right now, man, get registered for Relay Con for real. For real. Get registered for Relay Con. It's going to be It's going to be I think this going to be the littest one to date. It's going to be lit. Some surprises is out there. I can't reveal them right now, but there'll be some surprises out there.
Come on out there. If you're going, if you're going, come on through.
Yeah, man.
Wait, who's this? Mr. 007. Real DC. I'm I'm I'm I'm assuming you you're in uh the District of Columbia. DC. Shout out to DC.
I was about to go buy a truck in two days. Please elaborate. [laughter] Please elaborate.
Was that a question for me, Mr. 7 or somebody else.
Okay. So, you was in business since 2020. Okay. So, if you you you was in business since 2020 and you purchased all those trucks and you had all those notes. Well, we in 2025. It's five years. Like, what happened?
Were you running contracts? Um Jordan, I'm just curious.
Okay.
Okay. I'm I'm I'm The story is unfolding.
The story is unfolding. Here we go. See, I had my cousins running under my authority. He got a few to a few to meet and my insurance went from 2,000 a month each truck to 3,000 a month each. Well, he got some violations.
Rem was just talking about that, y'all.
And I didn't even I ain't even know.
Shout out to everybody for the super chats, too. I appreciate that.
Appreciate that on the super chats, y'all.
Appreciate the super chats.
See, try to try to we try to we try to show family some love. See how they do us.
See how they do us.
So now, Hassan, Amazon requires six months of authority, not one year. It's six months of authority. 180 days active authority.
Get that 180 days out the way. Get that account. Get you an account.
[clears throat] Jordan said he knows not good truck.
Well, say that too loud, Jordan. But boys go crazy when you start saying he knows not not good trucks. Well, they have a fit.
They love Heenos now. They love them.
Know a few guys with them heos. Diesel mechanics hate working on those heenos.
I do know that for sure.
Parts hard to find on that thing.
[clears throat] The M Whitfields. How are you? How are you? Appreciate you tapping into the live. See, if you just got a new authority, besides load boards, how can I get loads? I'm in Louisiana. Also, should I rent or buy a used one?
Louisiana. Louisiana. Louisiana.
Definitely research your market. Like the first thing I would do outside of going to load boards, especially with a brand new authority, I'm looking in my backyard, right?
Take a very close look at what you have around you, but also go watch that 10 niches video that I dropped that the herd is not even thinking about. Some people are, but most of them are not. Everybody jumps right on the low board when they, you know, when they get in in the uh when they get in box truck because that's what most of us know to do. Go get DAT, few other load boards, you know, and start and start dialing for dollars. Start picking up that phone, calling them brokers, new authorities. Most times, most times you get hung up on be honest with you.
They gonna hang up the phone on you.
Rude. They rude with it, too. They don't even care. Soon as you get Hey, they say, "Hey, what's your MC number?" Uh 114678.
Soon by the time you get the nine, you Hello.
I'm telling you, rude. Make you want to call back and then hang up on them. Like for real.
Um so and to answer your question, should I rent or buy a used one? That that that depends on your finances.
depends on where you're at financially.
Like I said, renting is tough because you you you not you don't you got to know what freight you're moving before you decide to pick go get a rental truck.
You got to have the work. I have to know what work I'm moving before I get the truck.
I can't repeat that enough in videos.
know what work you are going to be moving before getting a truck.
You don't want to get the truck and then be sitting there looking like, "Well, what I'mma do? What we going to do now?"
You got to already have an idea of how you going to move that truck and get to that money, right? You got people that have aged authorities that you know are willing to let you lease on. That may be an option for you.
Make sure the percentages work out, you know, make sure the numbers make sense first before doing anything.
Mad Dog. Mad. Oh, MD. M Dog. I said Mad Dog. M Dog. Shout out to M Dog 3207.
M Dog said, "Do you think renting a truck first?" I think I kind of just answered this somewhat. Renting a truck first to make sure I want to do this is a good idea. I know someone who will let me run under their Amazon account.
Well, what what what I will say is um if you know I run into guys all the time with rental trucks, especially like when I'm when I was out of town running, you know, in other states running Amazon relay, running contracts, I were running to guys that were running, you know, and they were in rentals. They said they were doing okay, but mind you, they had the work. They had the work. That's why they had the rentals because they had the work.
And the same they said it was working out for them, right? I've never rented a truck before. I just know guys that have rented them. And most of the people that rent those trucks, they already have the work for them, right?
You got to think about it.
It's almost like me going to buy a set of golf clubs. I get what you're saying, but it's almost like me going to buy a set of golf golf clubs, going out and, you know, knocking 18 holes down at the golf course with brand new golf clubs.
Do I go buy the golf clubs or do I rent them from the, you know, the catty shack, the golf store?
just to see if I like golf, like if I if I want to take this serious or not.
Me, I get what you're saying. So, you know, some some people minds are wired like that, but me, if I'm going to do something, I'm I'm going to do it. I'm running.
Take the wheels. We We I call it uh no brakes and no gears, man. We We rolling wide open. I'm not about to be playing around with nothing I put my hands on at all. Ray said he eating. Shout out to Ray. Ray James said we eating.
Let's go.
Let's go. Ray.
Ray said we eating. Shout. Look. Shout out to the Shout out to the eating the eating crew.
We eating out here, man. Ray said, "Let's get it." Ray said they eating.
That's what I'm talking about.
Ray, what you running out of? Shout out to 52 people in here. I know we got at least 52 likes on this live right now.
I'm dropping a little something right now.
I ain't even going to hold you. I probably got about another 15 minutes before I got to slide out of here. I just wanted to jump on and holl at anybody who may have some questions that have been in the comments and they were unanswered. So, I'm trying to answer as many as I can right now.
Rates drop. All the rental truck people was uh booking low rates that made the Amazon relay rates drop tremendously.
That that could be a possibility. You know what I'm saying? in certain markets because you know what happens when you're in markets like that and people have access to Amazon relay and if that's what you're what you're mainly running like if you're mainly running the Amazon relay only and you in those c certain markets somebody could literally come to your city with the Amazon relay account and come out there with six seven rental trucks and run all y'all rates down the loads. You know that you've been running for a certain amount of money and you just see six, seven new trucks come out of nowhere and you like, "Yo, where these where these dudes come from?"
Yeah. You like, "Yo, I used to run that for 450.
These dudes running it for 275 300." You looking like, "Oh man, y'all killing us out here."
That happens.
That happens.
But I'mma tell you the way around that.
Posting that truck. If you don't know nothing about posting that truck, post that truck.
Well, I almost forgot to give my dad on sponsor a shout out. I'm tripping right now. Hold up. Hold up, y'all.
Hold up.
Shout out. Shout out. One second. Let me take this me go to comments. Let me take that joint down.

Where we at?
All right. What' I miss? What I miss?
What I miss? I got a couple more that I'mma answer.
Couple more. I'mma answer.
[clears throat] Tay Jones Enterprise.
Ta. Jones. Tay Jones. I think I'm saying that right. If you're going to be in this space, is it better to lease 12 months versus rent?
Rent is double the monthly cost.
Also, [music] set up your commercial account with the three big rental companies. Now, okay, he giving some game for y'all.
Give him some game cuz I don't think that was a question. This this is a statement right here. There you go.
Yeah. So, Hassan, definitely check out that definitely check out that 10.
That video got when I tell you that video is uh is is heat. That video is heat.
Heat.
If I'd have been on the flip side and I saw that video, I would have been giving that guy about $50 to $100 just for that information.
There you go, big bro. I appreciate you just you just changed everything for me.
You mean I don't got to fight these brokers? Oh, that's just how my mind work, y'all. [music] That's how my mind work cuz that's that was that's game.
That's game. That's That's the That's just the stuff that most people don't think about. Everybody is taught go get your truck, go get you a load board, start calling brokers.
Nobody's really taught that there's other sources of freight that you can move out here outside of these load boards. Plenty of them.
Shout out to Mr. 007 again, the real DC for the super chat. I appreciate it, brother.
I appreciate it.
I think I'm just getting down to the to the super chats. The comments rolling right now.
So Jordan said load was $800 a night for a 200 mile load. Now they like 360 450 for same amount of miles. I was using Amazon in Alabama Theodore to New Orleans that stop. Now all the loads are less money. Okay.
Okay.
All right, I got this super chat right here.
V the light. Appreciate the super chat.
I finally got down to your joint. I'm preparing to purchase a cargo van. My question is, how should I fund my business checking account in order to buy the cargo van? H, it's a good question.
How should you fund your business checking account in order to buy the cargo van? If you have cash, you just put cash in there [music] in your business in your business checking account.
But even with a business checking account, most banks, they want to see deposits over time so that they can see that you have some income coming into your business. You get what I'm saying?
There's a lot of ways you can There's a lot of ways you can fund it. Now, they got they got they got credit card hacking nowadays where, you know, you could actually there's sites that you could use to pull funds from off of your, you know, credit cards. I would prefer business credit cards if you're going to do that. 0% interest credit cards on top of that.
That's how you really can can move out here.
0%. I always recommend 0% because that gives you some time to take that money and do some things with it, you know, do some things with that money versus using the personal cuz when you when you let's say if I had a business credit card at 0% for 18 months with 50,000 on it, that means I could do what I want with that 50k for 18 months before interest ever hits me.
So those are the type of business cards that you want to start looking for.
business credit cards because now you can move that money around at 0%.
You feel me?
But I hope that I hope that helps.
Shout out to Shout out to one of the channel members. Shout out to D Sean Dennis.
Appreciate you. Needing suggestions together. Call backs or return emails when booking loads. My MC is 3 years old.
Needing suggestions.
I'm trying to understand that question.
Needing suggestions together, call backs or return emails when booking loads. My MC is 3 years old. Yeah, that if you're asking me whether you should be calling back or following up with brokers that you ran loads for. Oh, absolutely.
always always always circle back, you know, to follow, you know, to follow up to build those relationships.
[clears throat] That's what's up. Rob said he get to join Amazon Relay next month.
Congratulations.
Congratulations.
Yeah, that's that's that's that's that.
Um, bro, I don't know why I don't know why why they would go up. George is a is funny.
And if and here's another thing, too.
Um, Jordan, if you scale too fast, if you scale too fast, that could also make your insurance increase faster, too. I forgot about that one. If you scaling up too quick. Yeah, they they gonna tax you.
They gonna tax you.
But but if you've been rolling since 2020, so it seems like you you scaled up gradually. I don't think you went out and just pull trucks out, you know, out out on them.
Any other questions?
Got like like 10 minutes.
10 minutes. 10 minutes. 10 minutes. 10 minutes.
Yeah, you got to shoot me a DM, Mr. 0007. Real DC. Hit hit me on the DM, brother.
[laughter] Oh man, if he had that cell phone in his hand and got a ticket. Oh, you insurance going up, bro. I can tell you that now.
Insurance going up. If you don't if if you don't drop that driver, but that's a violation. If he got caught with that, that's a big one. That is a big one.
Cell phone in hand. That's a violation for sure.
They don't typically give warnings for that one.
Well, Tay Jones, um, yeah, I I I run them now, just to answer that question for you. I run them now, especially if you're running postal routes. Now, you may run into, you know, like a Amazon to Amazon where they actually load the truck, you may run, just depending on the market that you in, you may run into some that might act a little funny. So, you know, just a heads up on that. But typically, if you're doing poster routes, you're loading the truck, so you don't you won't have any issues in that department with that truck.
Um, n Detroit engine is good. I started off with a Detroit engine. That thing was solid. That thing ran like a sewing machine, too. And it was a 2006 with no death. I didn't have any death. I didn't know how much of a blessing that was back then until after I purchased my second truck with death.
But hey, I hope I was able to answer some questions for y'all. For sure. For sure. Shout out to everybody that did tap in to the live. Shout out to y'all that did tap into the live.
[clears throat] Yeah, Modus is Motus is acting real real wonky right now. They acting real real wonky right now. especially with that transition.
Got one more question. When you otr, do you book hotels every night or sleep in a truck? I see some boxes have sleepers.
So, if you don't have a sleeper, that's definitely going to be up to you. You know what I'm saying? If if if you on that on that uh you know, if you on that chicken and rice diet, you know, you just you decide you sleeping in the truck.
gota, you know, some people want to thug it out. Some people don't want to, you know, want to spend that hotel money.
They want to keep that in their pocket.
That comes out of that profit for sure.
You know, when I was otr, there was times I step in the truck. In my beginning days, there was times I got a hotel, I would swap out, right? I would I would swap out every now and again. I might decide, hey, I'm sleeping in the truck tonight. make my little pallet, block out my windows, truck stop, night night.
But then, you know, I started getting uh I had I had this connect at one time where, you know, we was getting employee rates the hotels. So, I was paying like 30 40 bucks for the hotels at the time at one at one time.
And then I got the Hilton Honors Friends and Family. I have that now, you know.
So, I do get discounts at depending on where I'm going to. So, I typically will get hotels like when I went was in different states running, as you can see, I built up so many points where I was literally most times sleeping, you know, for free off off points, sleeping in hotels off points. But yeah, just that's kind of up to you. You know, you want to sleep in truck, sleep in your truck, get a hotel, get a hotel.
just, you know, keep it budget budget friendly cuz it's going to eat that profit. It's going to eat dig into that profit for sure.
But yeah, I got to get ready to jump up off here, man. If I didn't get to answer your questions, today is Tuesday. I think I'mma do another live on Thursday.
Then I'mma come back on Thursday and do another live.
Um, everybody seen that cargo van box truck video. They're like, "Yo, I want a cargo van now." And I am not in the cargo van business, but I do know quite a few guys that have cargo vans and they're doing their thing in their cargo vans. Like, for sure.
For sure.
Cal Chaos, I'm leaving CDLA to box truck. What you have for me? You leaving CDLA to box truck?
I don't know y'all. If I had I'm I'm I'm I'm I'm considering a few things, but with that CDLA in my hands, game over all the way. That's I'm going to tell you that. All the way over.
All the way.
all the way.
I ain't going to lie. Box truck probably wouldn't wouldn't it would be for other people that I would put in there, but me class A, we going to run up a whole different bag with that one, brother.
Promise you.
But just like that, y'all, I appreciate y'all tapping in. I'm about to sign up out of here. If you missed part of this live with the questions, it's going to be on the replay on the channel.
