Why teenagers stop talking to their parents... 💔本站添加:
Why do teenagers feel they can't tell their parents most things? When I was 14, my dad gifted me an iPad for my birthday. I loved it, but right after handing it to me, he said, "I've installed parental control software just to keep you safe." I didn't mind. I had nothing to hide. He'd check my history and it made me feel like he cared. But in high school, life got heavy. I made friends who became my survival kit.
There was Kabir, who had severe anxiety, and Dia, whose parents fought constantly. Our private group chat was our only safe zone to vent without judgment. One night, during a panic attack, I texted them, "I'm drowning and I don't know how to tell anyone." They instantly flooded me with love and memes. I finally felt understood. But one evening, I left my iPad open. My dad went in to check the software and found our chat. He spent hours reading and screenshotting months of our private secrets. The next day, he sat me down and said, "Your friends are dangerous."
Without asking, he forwarded those screenshots to Dia's mom and called Kabir's dad. By Monday, the fallout hit.
Dia's parents locked her down, Kabir stopped replying because his phone was taken, and our group chat died. My dad said he did it to protect us, but all I felt was pure betrayal. He didn't protect me, he exposed my soul. After that, I stopped sharing. When I cry myself to sleep, I do it silently. He can check my iPad or my texts, but he'll never find the real me again. It's not that teenagers don't want to tell their parents, it's that we hide from the people who don't respect our boundaries.
