Diplomatic agreements can be weaponized by powerful actors to undermine their original terms and justify continued violence, as demonstrated by how the Board of Peace was used to pressure Palestinian resistance movements into disarmament while Israel simultaneously intensified assassinations and military operations in Gaza, despite having signed a ceasefire agreement with the same factions.

Trump's “Peace” Board Does Netanyahu’s Bidding: Israel Intensifies Assassinations & Attacks in GazaAdded:
It's really sickening that this thing is called the Board of Peace and that it's been weaponized in this way. But the clear fact now, I think that is just out in the open is that this was never set up as a resolution. This was never set up with any thinking of the fate of the Palestinians in mind. In October 2025, Hamas and the Palestinian resistance signed a ceasefire deal with Israel. And that agreement was brokered by the United States, Egypt, Turkey, and Qatar.
And despite the fact that there are all these claims about what the Palestinians agreed to, disarmament, surrender, etc., the fact of the matter is that it was a very brief document. And the Palestinian resistance made very clear at the time that they only were empowered on behalf of the Palestinian people to negotiate an end to the acute genocide. So what that meant was an exchange of captives.
Hamas and Islamic Jihad agreed to hand over all of the living and deceased Israeli captives to Israel in return for a few thousand Palestinians held captive by Israel. Under the terms of that initial limited ceasefire framework, there was supposed to be a resumption of life essentials. They call it humanitarian aid, but we're really talking about life essentials that would come into the Gaza Strip. The quantities were supposed to be at least 600 trucks and there was supposed to be construction equipment coming in to do uh initial reconstruction and clearing of rubble so that the Palestinians could also recover the bodies of tens of thousands of Palestinians potentially who remain buried under the rubble and to begin to rebuild schools, hospitals, clinics, and some roads. Um, it also uh laid out terms for an initial Israeli withdrawal of its occupation forces to what was called the yellow line and and that was it. That was basically the agreement that uh Hamas signed and Ron Durmer, Netanyahu's top adviser at the time, signed it on behalf of Israel.
Well, since then, the United States and Israel have run around the world promoting a lie that the Palestinians agreed to terms beyond that, including total disarmament of Hamas and other Palestinian resistance factions, and that they essentially had agreed to surrender. What Hamas said at the time was that we aren't going to commit to anything that cuts to the heart of the Palestinian liberation struggle, of the connection between Gaza and the occupied West Bank, um, or the future of a Palestinian state, that those types of negotiations would require a Palestinian national consensus. And yet, what we've watched happen since Trump instituted his so-called Board of Peace is that they have run around saying Hamas agreed to things that they didn't. and and they've used this to justify an absolute murderous rampage in Gaza where the Israelis have killed more than 900 Palestinians since the ceasefire was signed. The Israelis have also moved deeper into Gaza. They were supposed to be moving further away from Gaza. Uh they've moved deeper inside of Gaza and they now are in control of roughly 60% of the Gaza Strip. In fact, the entire eastern part of Gaza is now just a wasteland of rubble. And recent satellite photos uh that we published from Forensic Architecture show that the Israelis are actually constructing military facilities there. And in the west of Gaza, Hamas remains the only governing authority even though it has said repeatedly that it's ready to hand over power to the to an established Palestinian technocratic committee.
Hamas and Islamic Jihad officials told me that they have their own committees that have set up to do a smooth transition of power, but the Israeli government has blocked the entry of this independent Palestinian technocratic committee to the Gaza Strip. That means that it's Israel that is keeping Hamas as the governing authority in Gaza, not Hamas. They have said very clearly, "We are ready to relinquish all governing authority." But what's happened since March is that officials from the so-called Board of Peace have been summoning uh Palestinian resistance uh movements led by Hamas to a series of meetings in Cairo where they have made clear to Hamas that this so-called Board of Peace has rewritten the ceasefire agreement and they are now saying to Hamas that if you don't disarm, if you don't demilitarize, essentially if you don't surrender, then Israel is not going to have to abide by any of the terms that it actually signed in the October agreement. What that means is that the Board of Peace is saying if you don't disarm and surrender, we can't really stop Israel from resuming the full-scale genocide in the western part of the Gaza Strip where Hamas remains.
At the same time that the Board of Peace is putting this pressure on the Palestinians with the not so thinly veiled threat that the intense genocide could resume, Israel has been conducting a massive campaign of targeted assassinations of Hamas leaders, particularly commanders of the Casam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas. Uh just after Khalil Al-Ha, the lead negotiator for Hamas and his delegation left Cairo in early May, the Israelis struck a car in Gaza, killing Khalil Al-Ha's son. A few days later, they killed Isadin al-Hadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadadad, the head of the Kasam brigades. Then just a few days ago, they assassinated Izad al-Had's reported successor in another targeted assassination. And by the way, when they kill these Palestinian resistance leaders, in almost every case, they're also killing their spouses, their children, and other civilians in these strikes. Let's remember, Israel didn't sign a ceasefire agreement with children in tents, but it continues to burn them alive in strikes.
Israel signed a ceasefire agreement with Hamas, with the Palestinian resistance.
And yet they act as though there was some secret clause in the agreement that the Palestinian side agreed to that said that Israel is still allowed to assassinate the very people it signed the ceasefire agreement with. It it defies anyone's common notion of what a ceasefire is. And the reality is that the Palestinians have not launched any attacks against Israeli forces. The Hamas and Islamic Jihad have not been launching rockets into Israel. Even when Israel has assassinated top Hamas or Kasam brigade officials, the Palestinian side has maintain the ceasefire. And one of the most grotesque aspects of this is that this was an agreement that was brokered by President Donald Trump that was signed off on by regional mediators Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey and is supposedly being overseen by an institution called the Board of Peace.
And yet none of the mediators, not Qatar, not Egypt, not Turkey, are saying anything about the more than 2,300 ceasefire violations that Israel has committed since October. They're saying nothing about the continued burning alive of people in Israeli strikes.
They're saying nothing about the fact that Israel seems like it has cart blanch permission to assassinate the leaders from the factions that they signed the ceasefire agreement with. And Netanyahu right now is using the Board of Peace. And the Board of Peace is going along with him to try to completely kill and erase the original terms of the ceasefire agreement and to now make any possibility of the Palestinians having any life whatsoever contingent upon a full surrender of the Palestinian Liberation Cause. Netanyahu is continuing with his ethnic cleansing operations um inside of Gaza. uh top military officials uh in Israel have been agitating to resume a much larger scale perhaps ground operation certainly bombing operation in the west of the Gaza Strip. The entire thing has been set up to try to win the surrender of the Palestinian Liberation Cause something that Israel has failed uh throughout its existence to enact through war. The Palestinians have not surrendered. They did not agree to disarmament. They did not agree to abandon the quest uh at uh for self-determination and an independent Palestinian state. And while all of this is happening uh in Gaza, the lenses of the world, the attention of the media outlets has completely turned away. And we're now watching uh a negotiation between the United States and Iran indirectly that may well lead towards some kind of an initial memorandum of understanding, some kind of a of a prolonged ceasefire, some kind of a diplomatic path opening up. And the Israeli pattern is that whenever that happens, it ratchets up the killing machine. It starts bombing more intensely. And the Iranians have said that as part of any deal, there has to be a ceasefire that applies to all fronts of resistance. And they've specifically said Lebanon. Israel has killed more than 3,000 Lebanese people since the war on Iran began. They have caused massive displacement of hundreds of thousands of Lebanese from the south of Lebanon. and they continue to to expand their bombing zones, even now striking in the heart of Beirut. Part of the reason that Netanyahu is doing this is because a diplomatic track is opening up. Part of it is because Israel wants to push deeper into Lebanon. And part of it is because the Lebanese resistance, Hezbollah, what we were told by Netanyahu that they had largely been decimated with the pager bomb plot and the wars and the assassination of Hassan Nusella. But actually, Hezbollah has shown tremendous resilience and has continued to inflict damage, continued to fight off Israeli attempts to move their troops deeper into Lebanon. And they're also uh remarkably effective at killing Israeli soldiers and blowing up Israeli tanks and other vehicles with fiber optic drones. And the Israelis have not figured out a way to combat these very cheap weapons that are now being utilized by the Lebanese resistance. So what we're looking at here is that Israel is moving ahead with its ethnic cleansing campaign in Gaza.
Israel is continuing to assassinate the leaders of Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, Kasam Brigade, Sariah Aluds, the very forces that it signed a ceasefire agreement with. But most of the people that Israel is killing on a daily basis in Gaza are civilians. They continue to burn people alive. They continue to bomb civilian residential buildings. They continue to block the agreed upon quantities of life essentials to the strip. They continue to block the delivery of construction equipment so that Palestinians can begin some minimal level of reconstruction or the clearing of rubble. Israel has a PhD in violating ceasefires and what we're seeing right now in Gaza. There's going to be more to come because it's clear that with the Israeli elections looming, with possible diplomacy opening up in Iran, Netanyahu wants to assure ensure that his greater Israel project continues and that the Gaza Strip is ultimately going to be ethnically cleansed. You know, if you if you look at what's happened, particularly since uh the US and Israel launched their war on February 28th against Iran, most of the countries in the Persian Gulf, the Arab countries in the Persian Gulf, have pretended as though Israel doesn't exist. The United States doesn't exist. The US and Israel are not at war against Iran. and they've just uh released a series of statements condemning Iran as though it just woke up one day and for no reason decided to start launching drones and ballistic missiles at all of its Arab neighbors.
And if you look at that pattern of ignoring the fact that an entity called Israel is at war against Iran, or that the superpower of the United States is not only at war against Iran, but has military bases in all of these Arab countries in the Persian Gulf, many of which have actually been used in one way or another to attack Iran. And you combine that with the total deafening silence in the face of the genocide of the Palestinian people, the refusal to lift a finger to do anything to stand up for the Palestinians who are being wiped out right now by Israel, the fact that none of the mediating countries make any noise about the fact that the agreement that they are the official mediators of, the guaranters of, their officials signed that October ceasefire agreement as guaranters and they say nothing about the fact that Israel is assassinating the leaders of the other side who signed the ceasefire agreement, not to mention killing hundreds of Palestinian civilians since that ceasefire was signed. It should be viewed as just a mark of shame for the foreseeable future that none of those countries will lift a finger and in many cases won't say anything about the fact that the United States has endorsed and facilitated Israel openly violating these ceasefire agreements and openly killing the very people that signed this ceasefire. There's this pervasive lie that Hamas signed some document that said that it had to disarm and demilitarize and essentially just surrender to Israel. And Hamas signed no such document. Um, but what Palestinian negotiators from Hamas and Islamic Jihad have done is they've they've tried to embrace the parts of Trump's so-called 20point plan that they believe are in sync with the broader consensus in the Palestinian nation. Um, and so for instance, they've said, "Yes, we'll relinquish power in Gaza." Um, and they have said, "Yes, we will welcome and support an independent committee of Palestinian technocrats to come in and take over the administration of Gaza."
But what has happened is that that has been portrayed as Hamas's requirements.
The fact is that Hamas actually has taken a quite flexible position. And so what what the officials from the Board of Peace have told Hamas is twofold. On the one hand, they've said, "If you don't now agree to disarm, even though you never signed an agreement saying you would, but if you don't now, then we can't stop Israel from resuming the genocide, and we can't guarantee you that any of the terms of the ceasefire that you and Israel signed are going to be respected." So, there's the threat of war hanging over uh Hamas's head, and it's an attempt to put a gun to their head and say, "If you don't lay down your weapons now, we're going to continue to allow Israel to burn your children alive and assassinate the officials that they signed the ceasefire agreement with." The other track is they've said, "Okay, you don't want to disarm. We're going to now just uh deploy resources into the eastern part of Gaza. There are no Palestinians left in that eastern part of Gaza except Israelibbacked gangs." And so part of the plan seems to be that they're going to try to create some pmpkin village in the eastern wastelands of Gaza that are occupied by Israeli forces where the Israelis are building military infrastructure and try to get this Palestinian technocratic committee to make an announcement that Palestinians in the Hamas controlled parts of Gaza should come over to the east and we'll give you some food and medicine, etc. This is all a way of of trying to push Palestinians toward a path where Israel ultimately says the only solution is to deport you. The only solution is to relocate you to another territory and then it clears the way for a total resettlement of Gaza. So those are the choices that are being put on the table right now for the Palestinian negotiators is basically either face a resumption of the genocide or surrender or we're going to deploy some Palestinian technocratic committee to a place in Gaza where we've ethnically cleansed it completely except for our Israeli backed gangs and then try to entice Palestinians to come to that pmpkin village to hang out for a while before we then find another country we're going to deport them to. It's really sickening that this thing is called the Board of Peace and that it's been weaponized in this way. But the clear fact now I think that is just out in the open is that this was never set up as a resolution. This was never set up with any thinking of the fate of the Palestinians in mind. This was set up as a real estate project potentially for Jared Kushner and his buddies. Um but ultimately at the end of the day that might not even happen. It might be that the United States decides this is too big of a mess and it's easier to just let Israel handle it. And what that means is that Israel will take these military bases they're constructing and then eventually they'll say, "Huh, this might be a nice place to put back some settlements." I think that's the real agenda here on the part of the Israelis is to wait out this fraudulent board of peace process, let it fail, and then Israel says, "Well, we already control 60% of Gaza, so we're going to just start to repopulate it with our settlers and our military facilities. face.
